Chapter 626: Encountering Danger
Using the Death God Seal's location, Yang Haoran confirmed the current whereabouts of Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang.
However, their current location surprised him somewhat.
Yang Haoran had visited the Wu family's villa in Lecheng before, so he knew its approximate location. And now, Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang were in the same general area as the Wu family's villa.
Yet, he couldn't be certain whether they were inside or outside the villa. Although he had a precise fix on their location, he only knew the rough area of the Wu family's villa, and considering its considerable size, he couldn't determine if they were actually within its confines or just nearby.
Nevertheless, he was certain that the two of them were within the vicinity of the Wu family's villa.
It was precisely because they were in the Wu family's villa area that he felt surprised, as a lack of cell signal would never occur in that region.
Unless the phone's owner had intentionally set it that way, or they were currently caught within some sort of restrictive barrier that could block signals.
In Yang Haoran's view, he thought the latter possibility was greater, but he couldn't entirely rule out the first possibility, so he prepared to go and investigate in person.
Furthermore, if Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang were currently inside a restrictive barrier, it was highly probable they were in danger. If he were to tell his suspicions to Bai Xue and the other two, it would inevitably cause them to worry, especially Xiujuan.
Therefore, he said no more and left the villa directly.
After exiting the barrier, Yang Haoran didn't hesitate in the slightest. He immediately tore open space, stepped into the spatial rift, and when he reappeared, he was already in the area where the Wu family's villa was located.
Gazing at the Wu family villa before him, his previous uncertainty now turned into certainty: Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang were indeed inside the villa.
With his Ghost Eye activated, he saw a restrictive barrier enveloping the entire Wu family villa. Besides this barrier, the villa was also shrouded in a layer of intense Yin Qi.
This restrictive barrier cut off external perception of its interior. While Yang Haoran could see the barrier's existence through his Ghost Eye, and even perceive the Yin Qi within it, he couldn't sense how many power fluctuations were present inside. Thus, he was unclear about the exact situation within.
However, he didn't halt his steps because of this. Since Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang were inside, whether the Wu family villa was now a dragon's pool or a tiger's den, he had to brave it.
Having consumed a drop of medicinal fluid for healing, Yang Haoran's injuries were now mending at a decent pace. His complexion had consequently regained some color, and his condition was somewhat better than before.
Yet, he paid no mind to his injuries. With a flash of his body, he appeared at the edge of the barrier, preparing to forcefully break it open and enter the villa to discern the situation.
Whether the two had encountered danger and were trapped inside the villa, or if a restrictive barrier had been laid here for other reasons, the truth would become clear as soon as he entered.
Without hesitation, he extended a palm and pressed it against the luminous curtain formed by the restrictive barrier. Sensing the power emanating from his hand, the barrier immediately released a surge of its own, attempting to push his palm away.
Yang Haoran's expression remained calm, devoid of surprise or tension. As he blocked the force unleashed by the barrier, a surge of Spirit Power suddenly erupted from his palm.
“Break! ”
The restrictive barrier's defense was decent, but in Yang Haoran's eyes, it was utterly insufficient, a stark contrast to the shield deployed by the Black-Robed Man tonight. Under the burst of his Spirit Power, the barrier's defense immediately suffered a devastating blow. Its protection shattered, the barrier let out crisp cracking sounds, and fissures rapidly spread, covering the entire restrictive barrier in the blink of an eye.
Boom!
The barrier shattered with a resounding crash, and Yang Haoran immediately sensed the presence of four power fluctuations.
Two of these four power fluctuations were Yin Spirit Power, one strong and one weak, which Yang Haoran believed came from Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang.
As for the other two power fluctuations, one originated from a Spirit Medium's Communication Power, and the other from a ghostly entity. This ghostly entity was, in all likelihood, the Spirit Medium's Guardian Spirit.
Whether it was the power fluctuation released by the Spirit Medium or by the Spirit Medium's Guardian Spirit, both were more powerful than Old Master Wu.
If even Old Master Wu was inferior to their opponents, then Xiao Kang was naturally even less so. He had never undergone a Soul Qi infusion, so the Spirit Power within his body was no different from Yang Haoran's when he first became a Night Watcher.
Since a Spirit Medium was present in the villa, it meant that Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang had indeed encountered danger. Yang Haoran's brows furrowed slightly, and with a few flashes of his body, he vanished into the night.
“Dad! Just agree to him! Do you really want to see our whole family die here? ! ”
The one who spoke was Wu Junior, Old Master Wu's younger son, the young master fond of indulging in a dissolute lifestyle.
At this moment, Wu Junior's expression was one of terror, his eyes full of anxiety. A layer of Yin Qi coiled around his body, binding him. No matter how he struggled, he couldn't break free from this layer of Yin Qi; instead, it tightened around him, making his body incredibly uncomfortable.
Besides Wu Junior, several others were bound by the same method: Wu Senior, Wu Senior's wife, the Old Butler, and two young, beautiful women. Their situation was identical to Wu Junior's; they were all entangled in a layer of Yin Qi, tossed into a corner like trash.
Apart from Wu Senior, the faces of the others were all etched with terror. Compared to their panic, Wu Senior appeared much calmer.
Wu Senior was, after all, the current pillar of the Wu family, a man of great intellect who had also weathered many storms. Thus, he was exceptionally composed; even in his current predicament, he did not panic, maintaining a remarkably steady demeanor.
Around the few individuals, bodyguards lay sprawled haphazardly on the ground. All of them lay in pools of blood, lifeless, with terror frozen on their faces, indicating they had suffered extreme fright before death.
Old Master Wu gasped for breath. He ignored Wu Junior, as if he hadn't heard his younger son's cries. He spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his Ghost Eyes gleaming with cold killing intent, fixed on the figure across from him.
Xiao Kang stood by his side, emitting a faint aura of Yin Qi, his Ghost Eyes also fixed forward. Though young in age, he was no longer as timid as when Yang Haoran first met him.
On the contrary, under Old Master Wu's long-term tutelage, he was now not only very courageous but also possessed a resolute character. Facing their current predicament, not a trace of fear showed on his face, a quality far superior to Wu Junior and the others.
“Grandpa Wu, this guy is simply too powerful. I feel like I can’t hold on much longer. ”
Xiao Kang's face was slightly pale. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and whispered to Old Master Wu beside him.
“Even if you can’t, you must persevere. In a life-or-death struggle like this, only by killing him can we survive. Otherwise, not only will you die, but our Wu family will be buried alongside you. ”
Old Master Wu responded in a low voice. At this moment, facing Xiao Kang, Old Master Wu had shed his usual kindness and benevolence, replaced by an unyielding sternness that brooked no argument.
Xiao Kang said nothing, but nodded slightly. He knew Old Master Wu was absolutely right; if they didn't kill their opponent, then they would be the ones to die.
Opposite the two of them stood a man who appeared to be around forty years old, with a scar on his face. This scar, however, was not left by them, but was an old wound.
Thick Yin Qi emanated from the man's body, and powerful Communication Power radiated from within him. A cold sneer played on his lips as he looked at the two with mockery in his eyes.
Above his body, an Evil Spirit floated suspended in the air. Judging by its light red eyes, it seemed to be among the weaker sort of Evil Spirits.
Although it was at the bottom tier among Evil Spirits, it was an Evil Spirit nonetheless, absolutely not something Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang could contend with. And factoring in the Spirit Master, Old Master Wu and Xiao Kang were even less of a match.
