Chapter 598: Thump-Thump-Thump!

As the Night Watchers arrived one after another, they respectfully lined up behind Huo Laoban, while the Old Crone took charge of counting their numbers.

A moment later, when the last Night Watcher finally arrived, the Old Crone reported respectfully to Emissary Huo, “Emissary Huo, all Night Watchers from Cloud River City are accounted for. ”

Huo Laoban nodded, then uttered just two words.

“Depart! ”

At Emissary Huo’s command, the procession, led by him, marched grandly towards the main gate of the Hongyu Cement Plant ahead.

After walking for about twenty meters, Huo Laoban halted. They had now reached the very entrance of the Hongyu Cement Plant.

The Night Watchers present did not understand why Emissary Huo had suddenly stopped, but Yang Haoran and the others comprehended the reason: this was the edge of the forbidden barrier. They had personally witnessed the barrier disappear and conceal itself right at this spot earlier.

Huo Laoban had stopped now, of course, to break through the forbidden barrier shrouding the Hongyu Cement Plant.

“Emissary Huo, breaking a small barrier like this is a trivial matter. Let me handle it,” the stout middle-aged man, discerning Huo Laoban’s intent, immediately offered with a chuckle.

“Heh heh, then I’ll trouble you, Fatty Bro,” Huo Laoban responded with a smile.

“Hahaha, it’s nothing! If I don’t show off now, I’m afraid I won’t get the chance later. ”

As his words fell, Fatty stepped forward, his right hand suddenly emitting a green Star Spirit Power, and he pressed his palm forward.

Buzz! ! !

Under the attack, the concealed light screen of the forbidden barrier reappeared. Standing at the edge of the barrier, everyone naturally saw this light screen with perfect clarity.

Fatty’s palm strike was not exceptionally powerful, yet it was certainly not weak. However, this strike merely caused the light screen of the forbidden barrier to become visible; it didn’t even cause a single ripple, let alone break through the barrier’s light screen.

“Heh heh, not bad. It certainly has some defensive power. ”

Fatty chuckled, showing no trace of embarrassment. As he spoke, a folding fan appeared in his hand.

The fan was not open, but on its outermost rib, there were four twisted Demon Markings.

Yang Haoran took in this sight, a slight surprise welling up in his heart. The folding fan Fatty had produced was actually a four-marking Demon Weapon.

Though surprised, it was not unexpected. After all, Fatty was a member of the New Sun City Demon Hunter Association, so it was hardly surprising for someone of his status to possess a four-marking Demon Weapon.

With the Demon Weapon in hand, Fatty smiled, then flicked his wrist, and with a crisp snap, opened the folding fan.

The fan’s leaves depicted various human-headed, beast-bodied monsters: some flying in the sky, others crawling on the ground. Though diverse in kind, they shared one common trait—their faces all contorted in expressions of agony, some even completely twisted in pain.

However, no one paid attention to the fan in Fatty’s hand at that moment. All eyes were fixed on the forbidden barrier that enveloped the Hongyu Cement Plant.

The instant Fatty opened his fan, the forbidden barrier suddenly vibrated violently. Then, under the gaze of Yang Haoran and the others, the light screen formed by the barrier was instantly cut into fragments by an invisible force.

“Heh heh, a fine technique, Fatty Bro. Your power seems to have advanced again,” Huo Laoban said, smiling at Fatty as he watched the barrier’s light screen dissipate.

“Hahahaha! Mere trifle! I’ve made a fool of myself! Made a fool of myself! ”

Although he spoke such words, Fatty’s triumph was evident in his tone, though no one present chose to pierce that particular veil.

“Heh heh, much obliged, Fatty Bro,” Huo Laoban said with a smile, then took the lead, striding into the Hongyu Cement Plant.

Seeing Huo Laoban enter the plant, the others naturally followed closely behind, Yang Haoran being no exception.

Yang Haoran had assumed that once they all entered the Hongyu Cement Plant, the shattered barrier might re-coalesce, trapping them all inside.

However, the scene he had anticipated did not occur; the fragmented forbidden barrier did not re-coalesce.

Maintaining his vigilance, he kept close behind Huo Laoban. Though they were both Undertakers, he felt no shame whatsoever. After all, his sole responsibility was to save people and prevent any stragglers from escaping; other matters, including leading the charge, were best left to Huo Laoban. Thus, he quite logically walked behind Huo Laoban, allowing Huo Laoban to bear the brunt of any unforeseen circumstances.

Upon entering the Hongyu Cement Plant, the first thing that greeted their eyes was a sizable open space. Yet, this expanse was devoid of everything save for dense, overgrown weeds.

Beyond this open ground stood a dilapidated factory building. Though the interior was obscured, everyone could sense the Communication Power and Yin Qi emanating from within.

Furthermore, throughout the entire Hongyu Cement Plant, only this one dilapidated factory building emitted such energies.

“I feel as if they’re waiting for us,” the middle-aged woman said, her brows tightly furrowed.

Her words echoed Yang Haoran’s innermost thoughts at that moment.

“They’re just a bunch of self-important sheep. Even if there’s a trap inside, how strong could a trap set by sheep be? Perhaps they don’t realize that their so-called trap is nothing but a joke in a tiger’s eyes. Not only will it fail to ensnare or kill the tiger, but it will also hasten their own demise,” the young woman stated coldly, her face devoid of expression, her words brimming with arrogance and disdain.

The middle-aged woman’s frown deepened. As a mother, she dearly wished her daughter weren’t so arrogant and conceited. Though she had tried many methods to change her daughter’s personality, the effects had always been negligible.

She had brought her daughter along for tonight’s operation precisely because she hoped the night’s events would humble her daughter, making her realize that there was always someone greater, a higher peak to reach.

“Don’t underestimate your opponents. They must have something to rely on if they dare act like this. Carelessness will likely lead to significant losses,” the middle-aged woman said, looking at her daughter, and reminded her.

The young woman did not reply, but from her demeanor, it was clear she had not taken the middle-aged woman’s words to heart.

Huo Laoban overheard the mother and daughter’s conversation, but he offered no opinion, nor did he cease his steps. The smile on his face remained, and he calmly said, “Everyone, open your Ghost Eyes, so we don’t miss anything. ”

These words were naturally directed at the Yin Division members present. Ghost Eye was their unique ocular technique. Once activated in such an environment, not only would their vision remain unaffected by the darkness, but they would also be able to perceive many things invisible to the naked eye. Thus, opening their Ghost Eyes was indeed quite necessary.

All the Night Watchers immediately opened their Ghost Eyes, and as an Undertaker, Yang Haoran naturally followed suit.

In truth, even if Huo Laoban hadn’t given the order, Yang Haoran was already prepared to activate his Ghost Eye, as doing so in such circumstances could only be beneficial.

As they activated their Ghost Eyes, the two Talisman Masters each produced a talisman and affixed it to their bodies. The talismans spontaneously ignited, turning to ash, and a flash of light briefly gleamed in both their eyes.

The two elderly Exorcists and Fatty, the Demon Hunter, also performed various techniques on their eyes. While these methods didn't grant them the full abilities of an ocular technique, they at least enabled them to see clearly in the darkness.

By the time everyone had successfully applied their chosen techniques to their eyes, they had already reached the entrance of the dilapidated factory building.

Huo Laoban’s steps did not falter in the slightest. He strode directly into the crumbling factory building.

Seeing Huo Laoban act so decisively, the others naturally did not hesitate, following him into the dilapidated factory building.

When the last person stepped into the decrepit factory, the dark interior suddenly lit up with a series of bright overhead lights, illuminating the entire dilapidated factory in a dazzling glow!

“Yo-ho! Welcome, everyone! Hahaha! ”

A flamboyant and excited welcoming voice rang out inside the factory. As the voice faded, it was followed by a burst of powerful music—loud and rhythmic, a relentless thump-thump-thump! Thump-thump-thump! It shook the entire factory, as if the building might collapse at any moment from the explosive beats.
