<r>The woman's warning allowed Er Lengzi, in his despair, to once Tagain see a glimmer of hope. At this moment, he was like a person lost in the darkest night, his entire world enveloped in blackness, unable to perceive even a sliver of light. The woman's warning was, in this darkness, a guiding beacon.
<r>Though fear gnawed at his heart, Er Lengzi forcefully suppressed it. Trembling all over, he managed to reply, "I. . . I'm fine. I. . . I might have had too much to drink."
<r>Er Lengzi's voice quavered. After his words fell, he pulled out his wallet from his pocket and took out two New Beginning Coins, placing them on the table.
<r>"I. . . I need to rest. Can't. . . can't drink anymore. Count the money yourself. Any. . . any extra, just keep the change."
<r>Er Lengzi finished speaking, then glanced at the woman beside him. Seeing her nod, he understood her meaning and rose from his seat.
<r>The moment he stood up, Er Lengzi felt his legs buckle, and he almost tumbled to the ground. If the waiter beside him hadn't reacted quickly enough, he would have already been intimately acquainted with the floor.
<r>If he'd had a choice, Er Lengzi would have rather fallen to the floor right then than be supported by this ghostly waiter. Falling would only have caused a bit of physical pain, but being held by this waiter, though his body suffered no harm, his spirit received a devastating blow.
<r>
"I. . . I. . . I'm fine. " Er Lengzi quickly broke free from the waiter's support and then looked at the woman again. . .
<r>Without Er Lengzi realizing it, the woman had also risen. She didn't speak, merely gesturing with her eyes for him to leave quickly.
<r>Er Lengzi understood the meaning in the woman's eyes. After freeing himself from the waiter's grasp, he mustered all his courage and strode quickly towards the bar's main entrance.
<r>He wanted to run, but his current state wouldn't allow it.
<r>Due to the excessive fright, his legs were not only trembling violently but also felt weak and powerless. Thus, Er Lengzi stumbled and lurched the entire way, creating quite a commotion.
<r>However, at this moment, he couldn't care less about such things. He had only one thought: to leave this place as quickly as possible, utterly disregarding everything else!
<r>The short distance felt like tens of thousands of miles to Er Lengzi in his current state. The bar's exit was clearly before his eyes, yet it seemed as distant as the horizon.
<r>Er Lengzi finally managed to bolt out of the bar's main entrance, escaping the establishment. During this desperate flight, it felt like an eternity, but in reality, it was only a brief moment.
<r>Once outside the bar's main entrance, Er Lengzi paid no mind to his already soaked trousers. He gasped for air, his heart slightly relieved. The feeling of surviving such a harrowing ordeal made the air taste sweet.
<r>"Do you think you're safe just because you left that haunted bar? Don't celebrate too soon."
<r>Just then, the woman's warning echoed beside him. Her voice was originally quite pleasant, but to Er Lengzi's ears, it made his body shudder violently, as if he had heard the most terrifying sound in the world.
<r>He turned his head to look beside him. The woman was none other than the very same woman who had been sitting next to him in the bar earlier.
<r>"Did those ghostly things follow us out? " Er Lengzi exclaimed in shock, hastily looking back towards the bar.
<r>"They haven't followed us out *yet*, but that doesn't mean they won't. From my many years of experience, they'll likely pursue you, then forcibly drag you back inside the bar, devour your flesh, drink your blood, and in the end, you'll die and become one of them," the woman said with a smile.
<r>The woman's smile was as beautiful as a hundred flowers blooming, but Er Lengzi was in no mood to appreciate her beauty at that moment. Though he was quite lustful, compared to his life, lust was utterly insignificant.
<r>Therefore, even though the woman was beautiful, and even more so when she smiled, he had no inclination to appreciate it at that moment. He just wanted to live.
<r>"What do we do now? " Er Lengzi was utterly bewildered, his mind frozen as if it had crashed, completely incapable of thinking.
<r>"It's quite something that you'd even ask such an idiotic question. Of course, we leave this place immediately. If we don't, do you really plan to wait for them to come out and drag you in? " the woman asked.
<r>Er Lengzi instantly realized she was right. He quickly asked, "Will it be safe once we leave here?"
<r>"That's not necessarily true. You've already been targeted by them, so even if you leave this place, they might still find you."
<r>As the woman spoke, she began walking forward. Seeing this, Er Lengzi hastily chased after her.
<r>"What should I do then? Beautiful lady, you absolutely must save me! You must save me! " Er Lengzi's voice trembled, laced with a distinct whimper.
<r>At this moment, Er Lengzi had completely forgotten the sordid thoughts he'd harbored when he first spotted this beautiful woman in the bar. His intense desire to survive made him see the woman as his sole hope for staying alive.
<r>"If I hadn't wanted to save you, you'd be dead by now. Come with me, I will help you solve this problem completely," the woman said with a smile.
<r>Upon hearing this, Er Lengzi's heart swelled with elation. Overcome with emotion, he quickly showered the woman with thanks, almost dropping to his knees before her.
<r>In response to Er Lengzi's gratitude, the woman merely smiled, saying nothing more.
<r>"What exactly happened just now? It wasn't my first time at that bar; it's always been fine before. How did it become a haunted bar tonight? " Er Lengzi asked as he walked alongside the beautiful woman.
<r>As he brought it up, he couldn't help but shiver, an expression of terror involuntarily appearing on his face. The incident had shocked him too profoundly; he felt he would never forget the terrifying scene in the bar for the rest of his life.
<r>"Didn't you know? A fire seven days ago completely burned that bar to the ground. Both the customers and the staff perished in that blaze. What you saw tonight were their ghosts," the woman explained.
<r>Er Lengzi regarded the woman beside him as his lifeline, so he believed her words without question.
<r>"The reason I appeared in that haunted bar tonight was primarily to subdue the spirits within it. However, the sheer number of ghosts in the bar was overwhelming; I simply couldn't handle them alone. So, I abandoned the idea of subduing them for now and prioritized rescuing you, a living person, first."
<r>The woman's explanation made Er Lengzi understand what had transpired. While he felt a chill of fear for what might have been, he also felt a measure of relief, grateful that he had encountered this woman beside him. Otherwise, he might very well have died tonight.
<r>Just as this thought crossed his mind, Er Lengzi bizarrely noticed that the street tonight was not only devoid of people but also of a single car. The entire world was terrifyingly quiet.
<r>Er Lengzi had lived in Cloud River City for many years, and he had never encountered a situation like this. On this very street, from dusk till dawn, one could always spot the figures of drunkards, gamblers, and lechers. It would never be as utterly deserted as it was now.
<r>Not only were there no people or cars, but even the barbecue shops on both sides of the street, which usually operated all night, had their doors tightly shut. This was completely unlike anything Er Lengzi remembered.
<r>The doubt in his heart made Er Lengzi stop. He first pulled out his phone to check the time. Seeing it was only eleven o'clock, his confusion deepened instantly.
<r>"That's not right. It's only eleven o'clock; this street can't possibly be this deserted. Am I dreaming? Is everything I've experienced tonight just a dream? " Er Lengzi furrowed his brows, muttering to himself.
<r>At this moment, the newly arisen doubt actually diluted some of the intense fear in his heart. If all of this was merely a dream, then he had no need to be afraid, because once he awoke, all his terrors would vanish like smoke.
<r>Seeing Er Lengzi stop, the woman also paused her steps.
<r>"Why have you stopped? Aren't you afraid the Evil Spirits from the bar will catch up? " the woman asked with a smile.
<r>"Everything that happened tonight is too unbelievable for me. I'm wondering if this is just a dream. As long as I wake up from the dream, I can return to reality, and then all sources of terror will disappear, including you," Er Lengzi's eyes lit up as he voiced his conjecture.
<r>"Heh heh, then hurry up and try it. Make this dream of yours wake up quickly," the woman said with a chuckle, then watched Er Lengzi with an expression as if she were about to enjoy a good show.
