Chapter 1061: Eager to Kill

If ordinary people could detect the tremendous commotion emanating from the temple where Yang Haoran resided, it went without saying that non-ordinary individuals would be even more aware.

However, not all non-ordinary individuals knew exactly what had transpired. Some had a vague idea, others knew very little, and some were utterly clueless.

Precisely for this reason, many non-ordinary individuals immediately dropped what they were doing and rushed towards the temple where Yang Haoran was located. Some were simply there to gawk, eager to see what exactly had happened, while others sought to gather intelligence—some for personal reasons, and others for the factions they belonged to.

Among the numerous factions in Gu Mo City, two reacted with the most intensity at that moment. One was the Corpse Driving Sect. As its members were all corpse refiners, they possessed an intimate understanding of zombies, and the guttural roars of zombies were, naturally, no exception.

Upon hearing these astonishingly powerful roars, they immediately deduced that the sounds emanated from Corpse Ghouls among the zombies, and there was more than one of them.

Throughout all of Gu Mo City, only the Corpse Driving Sect raised zombies. For such a situation to suddenly arise, it was obvious without a second thought that it must be related to their sect.

Not all members of the Corpse Driving Sect were aware of the Corpse Driving Sect Door Master's actions against Yang Haoran that day; only a select few high-ranking members knew. The reason he acted this way was that he felt there was no need to make a grand public spectacle of the matter. If outsiders knew, they might mistakenly believe that he, the Corpse Driving Sect Door Master, was afraid of the newly arrived Underworld agent from the Underworld Office.

He had believed that sending two capable individuals to handle the situation would suffice. However, he had not anticipated that events would spiral beyond his expectations, ultimately forcing him to personally rush to the scene with his most trusted lieutenants.

The other corpse refiners of the Corpse Driving Sect were completely unaware of these affairs. Therefore, upon hearing the roars of several Corpse Ghouls, they all assumed something major had befallen their sect, hence their intense reactions. Many corpse refiners even immediately hastened towards the scene of the incident.

Apart from the Corpse Driving Sect, another faction reacted with considerable intensity: the Spirit Mediums.

Among the major factions that appeared at the temple where Yang Haoran was located that day, the Spirit Mediums were notably absent. They had not shown themselves because it was part of their plan; they wanted other factions to lead the charge, to ascertain exactly how capable Yang Haoran truly was.

Now, seeing Yang Haoran engaged in a full-blown conflict with the Corpse Driving Sect, and having caused such a massive disturbance, what reason could they possibly have not to be excited?

Inside the temple, which was currently undergoing reconstruction, Yang Haoran observed the eight roaring Corpse Ghouls before him. His expression remained unchanged, still bearing a faint smile, yet a slight worry gnawed at his heart.

All eight powerful Corpse Ghouls were close to the peak of their kind. Aside from the one belonging to Xu Jingwen, which was injured and missing an arm, the other seven Corpse Ghouls were all in optimal condition.

In addition to these eight Corpse Ghouls, there were also the three individuals from the Corpse Driving Sect Door Master's retinue. The strength of all three surpassed Xu Jingwen's, and they were not to be underestimated; dealing with them would not be simple.

Conversely, on his side, there was currently no one else apart from himself. As for the other Night Watchers, they were currently busy not only protecting the ordinary believers but also contending with the remaining Corpse Ghosts, making them utterly incapable of assisting him.

Furthermore, even if Shui Ling and the other Night Watchers weren't dealing with the Corpse Ghosts, their abilities wouldn't be sufficient to help him. A struggle of the magnitude currently unfolding between him and the Corpse Driving Sect Door Master was not something just anyone was qualified to participate in.

If one were to use the Underworld Office's realm divisions as a benchmark, to qualify for participation in such a struggle, one would need to have at least opened their Heaven Soul. Those who hadn't even opened their Heaven Soul, and thus didn't possess a Soul Armament, were simply not qualified to join. If they tried to force their way in, the likely outcome would be that they wouldn't inflict the slightest harm on their opponent, but would instead be shaken to death by the residual shockwaves generated by the battle.

Shui Ling and Lu Wu had not yet opened their Heaven Souls, so even if they weren't occupied with the Corpse Ghosts, they couldn't alleviate his burden.

Of course, Yang Haoran had never intended for Shui Ling and Lu Wu to share his burden. Although the current situation was somewhat dire, he was, after all, an individual who had opened both his Heaven and Earth Souls. To put it bluntly, a being like the Corpse Driving Sect Door Master was simply not on the same level as him. Thus, he certainly wouldn't give in to panic or fear over this.

Just as Yang Haoran was pondering a countermeasure, a violent spatial fluctuation suddenly emanated from beside him. When such a phenomenon occurred, many might instinctively retreat, wary of whether the newcomer was friend or foe. Yet, Yang Haoran did no such thing; he calmly stood his ground, his feet not moving an inch.

No sooner had the spatial rift appeared than an irreverent laugh echoed from within.

“Hehe, just made it, just made it! Almost missed this great show! ”

As the laughter rang out, two figures emerged one after another from the spatial rift. These two were none other than Huang Sha and Xiang Chuan, who had gone out to gather food under Yang Haoran’s instructions. The one emitting that irreverent laugh was, predictably, Xiang Chuan.

Although their appearance drew the gaze of everyone present, it did not cause the Corpse Driving Sect Door Master to abandon his intention to attack.

He merely glanced at Xiang Chuan and Huang Sha before locking his gaze back onto Yang Haoran, then coldly issued an order.

“Kill them all, leave none alive. ”

His three cultivated Corpse Ghouls abruptly ceased their roaring at that moment, then, emitting a strong foul stench, lunged towards Yang Haoran to kill him.

The two individuals beside him, seeing that their Door Master had already given the order to act, naturally didn't hesitate. They each employed their corpse-controlling methods to command their own Corpse Ghouls, and their combined target was also Yang Haoran.

They unanimously designated Yang Haoran as their target, rather than Huang Sha and Xiang Chuan, who had just arrived. This was because the killing intent within all three of them towards Yang Haoran had reached its absolute peak. Precisely for this reason, they were overwhelmingly eager to slay Yang Haoran, to vent the rage and frustration festering within their hearts.

As for Xiang Chuan and Huang Sha, who had just arrived, it wouldn’t be too late to deal with them after Yang Haoran was taken care of. After all, their Door Master had already ordered that no one be left alive; dying sooner or later was merely a difference in timing, but the ultimate outcome would be the same.

Seven Corpse Ghouls uniformly lunged towards Yang Haoran, yet only the Corpse Ghoul cultivated by Xu Jingwen remained frozen in place.

Its master, Xu Jingwen, was already dead, and thus no one could issue it commands. That was why it stood there, frozen, unable to keep pace with the other seven Corpse Ghouls.

However, entities like zombies were exceedingly bloody and brutal. Even without their master’s command, they would still act purely on instinct. Much like naturally occurring Corpse Ghouls, who were never controlled by others, everything they did was entirely driven by instinct—such as hunting, capturing prey, and feeding.

Although Xu Jingwen’s Corpse Ghoul no longer had a master, its instincts remained. So, after a brief moment of stunned inaction, it reacted, its form flickering as it too charged out. And its locked target was also Yang Haoran.

The reason it had locked onto Yang Haoran was not due to simply following the others, but because Yang Haoran’s Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, had previously severed one of its arms. Only a short while had passed since that incident, so it naturally hadn't forgotten. Thus, it viewed Yang Haoran as its target—or rather, as edible prey.

“Yo! Big Brother, you’re really popular. From the looks of it, they all seem to be coming straight for you! ”

Xiang Chuan, unhurried, teased Yang Haoran. The reason he wasn't flustered was that he himself was quite capable, embodying the saying, 'those with high skill are more daring. '

Furthermore, he also possessed the identity of a Pharmacist. Even if he couldn't defeat his opponents, merely revealing this status would make it highly unlikely for them to harm him. And even if they did, other experts present would surely intervene to rescue him, for Pharmacists were a highly sought-after profession in this world after all.

Beyond that, there was another crucial reason for his unhurried demeanor: he knew only the tip of the iceberg of Yang Haoran’s true strength. A man capable of handling even Gold Talisman Masters would hardly stumble in such a minor skirmish.

Therefore, he truly couldn’t find a single reason to panic.
