Chapter 1060: Fury Reaches Its Peak

At the exact moment Yang Haoran moved to tear Xu Jingwen's soul to shreds, the Corpse Driving Sect Master and his two companions launched their assault on Yang Haoran almost simultaneously.

Although they had recognized the unfavorable situation and acted immediately, they were still half a beat too slow. By the time their attacks reached Yang Haoran, Xu Jingwen's soul had already been ripped apart by the dense Yin Qi.

Xu Jingwen's soul had been held firmly in Yang Haoran's grasp the entire time. In such a situation, forcibly rescuing Xu Jingwen's soul from Yang Haoran's hands was easier said than done. If Xu Jingwen's soul could have resisted for even a brief moment, even just a few short seconds, it would have granted the three a chance to intervene and save him.

However, the moment Yang Haoran acted, Xu Jingwen's soul couldn't even hold on for a single second before it was ripped apart and pulverized by the Yin Qi. Under these circumstances, even if the Corpse Driving Sect Master and his two companions had been vigilantly tracking Yang Haoran's every move, it would have been absolutely impossible for them to successfully rescue Xu Jingwen's soul from his grasp.

The fury in the hearts of the Corpse Driving Sect Master and his two companions had now reached its zenith. The reason wasn't merely because Yang Haoran had allowed Xu Jingwen to suffer Soul Transformation right before their eyes; another reason was that they felt Yang Haoran was toying with them.

After Yang Haoran extracted Xu Jingwen's soul, he could have instantly dispersed it. Yet, he deliberately chose not to, instead waiting for them to demand the release of Xu Jingwen's soul, only to then smilingly extinguish it after refusing their plea.

Though the entire process was brief, Yang Haoran had carried himself with an air of nonchalance, as if a gentle breeze. To the three of them, this was nothing short of outright mockery, and how could they possibly tolerate such an insult!

Three strands of grayish-white power reached them in the blink of an eye. Yang Haoran wore a smile, his face devoid of any trace of panic, for he had long anticipated such a development and was thus well-prepared.

Without any visible movement from him, the several Ghost Fiend Soul Chains that had been menacingly swirling around his body let out a spine-chilling ghostly cackle, actively meeting the three strands of grayish-white power head-on.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

A series of explosions rang out. The several Ghost Fiend Soul Chains, conjured by Yang Haoran's Ghost Art, blocked the trio's attacks. However, these Ghost Fiend Soul Chains subsequently dissolved into streams of Yin Qi under the force of their assault.

This Ghost Art, which had consumed a considerable amount of his Spirit Power to cast, was thus easily shattered. Although these Ghost Fiend Soul Chains had suffered some depletion in the recent battle with Xu Jingwen, the consumption wasn't significant, and the vast majority of their power still remained.

Even so, facing the trio's furious onslaught, the Ghost Fiend Soul Chains were still unable to withstand it for long, let alone completely neutralize their attacks; they merely managed to dissipate a portion of the incoming force.

As the Ghost Fiend Soul Chains dispersed, the trio's attacks slammed towards Yang Haoran, who was behind them. Because the Ghost Fiend Soul Chains had delayed the attacks for a short while, Yang Haoran had ample time to react.

Undoubtedly, Yang Haoran was not harmed by the trio's attacks. As their assaults hurtled towards him, his form flickered, and he vanished from his original spot, effortlessly evading their offensive.

However, the Corpse Driving Sect trio's attacks were not limited to that. No sooner had Yang Haoran dodged their furious strike than he was met with a new wave of their offensive.

Yang Haoran's expression remained unchanged. He did not directly confront the trio's attacks; instead, he dodged while simultaneously deploying a Ghost Art Yin Qi Shield. The three opponents were all stronger than Xu Jingwen, and facing them simultaneously without having opened his Earth and Heaven Souls naturally put him under considerable pressure. If he were to be overconfident, he might suffer a loss, so for the sake of safety, he first erected a protective shield around himself.

With the protection of the Yin Qi Shield, his safety was naturally greatly enhanced. After all, this Yin Qi Shield was exceptionally sturdy, and for individuals of their realm, breaking through it was no simple task.

The Corpse Driving Sect Master and his two companions' ordinary attacks were utterly ineffective against Yang Haoran, because Yang Haoran's movements were exceptionally agile, and he could accurately predict their moves. This resulted in Yang Haoran successfully evading their attacks almost every time. On the rare occasion an attack did strike Yang Haoran, it was blocked by the Yin Qi Shield around him, failing to injure him in the slightest.

For the Corpse Driving Sect Master and his two companions, this was hardly good news. If this continued, not only would it be difficult for them to inflict any real damage on Yang Haoran, but they would also constantly deplete their own internal energy. Thus, all three unleashed their ultimate trump cards: the zombies they had nurtured.

The Corpse Driving Sect Master conjured three coffins. Under his control, these three coffins descended from the sky like falling meteors, plummeting down towards Yang Haoran below.

These coffins were incredibly fast, but Yang Haoran's speed was no less impressive. He darted left and right, narrowly but safely dodging the attack of each coffin.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

The three coffins slammed into the ground, emitting three dull thuds and kicking up vast clouds of dust. These three coffins were robust in quality and empowered by the Corpse Driving Sect Master's force, so even after plummeting from a great height, they showed not the slightest damage. Instead, they carved deep pits into the earth.

At the same time, the other two also conjured two coffins each. Four coffins, controlled by the pair, shot towards Yang Haoran like arrows released from a bowstring. However, the outcome was the same: these four coffins likewise failed to injure Yang Haoran in the slightest, not even managing to strike him.

Although they were just coffins, not true offensive maneuvers, the fact that they couldn't even touch Yang Haoran's body caused the trio to lose face.

“Yang Haoran, don't blame us for ganging up on you; you brought all of this upon yourself! ”

The Corpse Driving Sect Master said, his face cold and his voice filled with murderous intent, as he addressed Yang Haoran. No sooner had his words fallen than the coffins, standing upright on the ground, began to violently tremble. Then, without exception, they all burst apart with a resounding crash.

ROAR! ! !

Ferocious and bloodthirsty roars echoed through the air above the entire temple. Three hideous-faced zombies, reeking with foul stench from head to toe, revealed themselves under the gaze of everyone present.

These three zombies were all Corpse Ghouls he had nurtured. Their entire bodies were enveloped in dense Corpse Qi, and the power fluctuations emanating from them were extremely potent, none weaker than the Corpse Ghoul Xu Jingwen had nurtured.

Seeing this, the other two also successively summoned their nurtured Corpse Ghouls. Four explosions rang out in quick succession, and the Corpse Ghouls nurtured by the two also shattered their coffins, appearing within everyone's sight.

The Corpse Ghouls nurtured by the two weren't stronger than the Corpse Driving Sect Master's; in fact, they were even slightly weaker compared to the Corpse Ghoul Xu Jingwen had nurtured. However, both of them had nurtured two Corpse Ghouls of this caliber, while Xu Jingwen only had one. If a true battle were to ensue, the Corpse Ghoul nurtured by Xu Jingwen would certainly be no match for the Corpse Ghouls nurtured by the two of them. After all, with only a small disparity in individual strength, they possessed an additional one, naturally making their Corpse Ghouls more formidable.

Furthermore, Xu Jingwen's own strength was also inferior to theirs. It was precisely for this reason that, within the Corpse Driving Sect in Gu Mo City, Xu Jingwen's status was ranked below the two of them.

After these four Corpse Ghouls revealed themselves, they too let out a series of bloodthirsty, savage roars. Xu Jingwen's Corpse Ghoul, though missing an arm severed by Remnant Moon, was not dead by any means. While its combat power was certainly diminished to some extent, truthfully speaking, it still possessed considerable fighting prowess.

Hearing the furious roars of these seven Corpse Ghouls at this moment, it was as if it had suddenly found its organization, and it too let out a roar in response.

For a time, the unique roars of the zombies above the temple shook the heavens, their momentum incredibly astonishing. The roars not only echoed throughout the temple's airspace but even spread across the entire Gu Mo City, so clear that even ordinary people could hear them distinctly, causing them to cast their gazes towards the temple where Yang Haoran was located.

However, only a small portion of these gazes held curiosity; most were filled with terror. For these ordinary people knew well that those 'immortal-like' figures were about to fight again, and typically, it was they, the common folk, who ended up suffering in the end.
