Chapter 1062: Fierce Onslaught

While Xiang Chuan was teasing Yang Haoran, Huang Sha had already made his move against the eight incoming Corpse Ghouls.

Huang Sha's strength was quite formidable, but facing eight Corpse Ghouls simultaneously, he knew perfectly well he wouldn't stand a chance. Yet, he didn't falter. As the Corpse Ghouls surged towards Yang Haoran, he likewise made his move.

He had only recently begun following Yang Haoran, and if he wanted to earn Yang Haoran's trust, then the more dire the situation, the less he could afford to show fear. Moreover, in recent days, he had grown quite close to Xiang Chuan and had gleaned some information from him.

Although Xiang Chuan hadn't explicitly stated some things he shouldn't have, everything he told Huang Sha hinted at two key pieces of information: first, Yang Haoran's strength was exceptionally formidable, far beyond what he had ever imagined.

The second piece of information was that Yang Haoran was not to be trifled with. Don't let his perpetually smiling, harmless demeanor fool you; that was merely a facade. If one were to be deceived by his outward appearance, they wouldn't even know how they died. Therefore, when dealing with Yang Haoran, it was best not to truly provoke him, lest he harbor murderous intent.

When Huang Sha learned this information from Xiang Chuan, while he didn't show an overly strong reaction, he nevertheless synthesized these two points and committed them firmly to memory.

Facing this current predicament, he chose not to flee, but instead, fearless of death, he decisively struck out at the incoming Corpse Ghouls. His actions were driven by these two very reasons.

To flee in the face of battle would be to betray Yang Haoran, and his fate might well be even worse. Furthermore, Yang Haoran possessed formidable strength; what seemed like certain death to Huang Sha might not be so in Yang Haoran's eyes—a fact that could be somewhat discerned from Xiang Chuan's reaction.

If he hadn't considered these two factors, he would have likely fled long ago. Why else would he have torn through space from such a distance to rush back? After all, he had only been following Yang Haoran for a few days; there was no deep bond between them. He had no reason to foolishly risk his life for Yang Haoran when facing a situation of certain death.

Facing eight formidable Corpse Ghouls simultaneously was, for the current Huang Sha, nothing short of seeking death. Thus, he dared not conceal his strength, immediately unleashing his full capabilities.

With a grim expression, he let out a roar, then slammed both hands fiercely onto the ground.

The ground before him immediately transformed into sand over a large area, and from it, eight massive hands of mud and sand coalesced. They shot out, seizing the eight Corpse Ghouls squarely in their grasp, then yanked them fiercely towards the sandy earth below.

The eight Corpse Ghouls' movements halted, their bodies sinking into the mud and sand below. In just the blink of an eye, half of their forms were submerged.

From this scene, it appeared Huang Sha had gained the upper hand, yet his expression remained grim, devoid of any hint of satisfaction. He knew all too well that while his technique seemed immensely powerful and had successfully restrained the eight Corpse Ghouls, it was only temporary. With his current strength, simultaneously controlling eight Corpse Ghouls was simply unrealistic.

In less than a breath's time, the eight Corpse Ghouls' bodies ceased their descent. Under their violent struggles, cracks appeared on the mud and sand hands holding them, looking as if they were on the verge of shattering.

Huang Sha's body trembled, clearly on the verge of collapse. He had already pushed his abilities to their absolute limit, but even so, simultaneously trapping eight powerful Corpse Ghouls still exceeded his capabilities.

Yang Haoran listened to Xiang Chuan's teasing while observing Huang Sha's trembling form. Although Huang Sha's back was to him, he knew Huang Sha must have been red-faced and straining from the immense pressure.

"This is no time for jokes. Huang Sha's on his last leg. Go help him. After this, your rewards will be plentiful."

Yang Haoran said with a smile, his words, naturally, directed at Xiang Chuan.

"Heh heh, what's all this talk of benefits? Big Brother, you're treating me like a stranger. Who are we to each other? Rest assured, Big Brother's business is Little Brother's business. Little Brother would go through fire and water for you, no matter the. . ."

Before Xiang Chuan could finish, a series of explosive sounds erupted from the front, as the eight Corpse Ghouls successively broke free from the mud and sand.

Huang Sha let out a painful groan, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. The moment the eight Corpse Ghouls tore free from the mud and sand, it meant his technique had been broken, and as the caster, he naturally suffered a certain degree of backlash.

After successfully breaking free from the mud and sand, the eight Corpse Ghouls again charged towards Yang Haoran's position. Seeing this, Huang Sha, ignoring his internal injuries, let out a furious shout, and a sand wall rose from the ground, blocking the path of the eight Corpse Ghouls.

Boom! ! !

The Corpse Ghouls' bodies crashed into the sand wall, but it offered no resistance, instantly shattering into fragments under their impact.

Huang Sha's strength was already no match for the eight Corpse Ghouls, and with the sand wall having been hastily conjured, its defensive capabilities were naturally quite limited. How could it possibly withstand the fierce onslaught of the eight Corpse Ghouls?

Seeing this, Xiang Chuan knew he couldn't afford to keep bantering with Yang Haoran. If he continued to waste time with idle chatter, he couldn't be sure if Huang Sha would be torn to shreds by the Corpse Ghouls, but he could be certain that Yang Haoran would hold it against him, and settling accounts later would be a headache.

His life was held in Yang Haoran's grasp, so he dared not truly provoke him. Occasional teasing or light mockery was one thing, but if he were to genuinely infuriate Yang Haoran, he knew he wouldn't get off lightly.

His voice abruptly cut off. Daring not to waste another second, his figure flashed and vanished from his spot, reappearing beside Huang Sha.

Simultaneously, Yang Haoran also made his move, for he knew that even with Xiang Chuan joining the battle, relying solely on Xiang Chuan and Huang Sha to deal with eight formidable Corpse Ghouls was clearly an impossible task. He had to act.

A clang of chains suddenly echoed through the area. Dozens of black chains, as thick as arms, materialized out of thin air, their presence imposing and their aura astonishing, instantly coiling around the eight Corpse Ghouls that had just breached the sand wall.

The Corpse Ghouls' movements were once again impeded. The chains, formed from Yang Haoran's Spirit Power, were far stronger than the mud and sand hands Huang Sha had just conjured, both in terms of offensive power and sturdiness. Thus, when entangled by these chains, the Corpse Ghouls not only failed to break them instantly but found themselves trapped in place.

Seeing this, Xiang Chuan recognized a prime opportunity to strike. He immediately conjured several Black Talismans. Although he wasn't a Talisman Master, as a Pharmacist, he possessed no shortage of various treasures, some gifted by others, some acquired in exchange for medicine, and among them were quite a few talismans.

However, his standards were quite high; he simply disdained low-grade goods. Thus, the talismans he kept in his personal spatial dimension were, at the very least, Black Talismans.

Even among Black Talismans, their power naturally varied, for not all Black Talisman Masters possessed equal strength. The more formidable the Talisman Master who drew a talisman, the greater its power would be.

The Black Talismans Xiang Chuan conjured at this moment, though merely common fire talismans, were nonetheless top-tier among Black Talismans. Even as ordinary fire talismans, the power they could unleash was not to be underestimated.

There were eight fire talismans in total. Once conjured by Xiang Chuan, they were affixed to each of the eight Corpse Ghouls. The moment the talismans ignited, the area instantly transformed into a sea of flames.

Scorching, fierce flames engulfed the eight Corpse Ghouls. The Corpse Qi emanating from their bodies emitted an eerie hiss upon encountering the inferno, and vast quantities of it were instantly incinerated and evaporated by the blazing fire.

The eight Corpse Ghouls simultaneously let out roars. Whether it was from the pain of the burning flames or the rage of being trapped and incinerated in place, their cries shook the heavens for a moment.

"Heh heh, when dealing with these monstrous zombies, if you don't have the Saintly Power of the Saint Mother Sect, then fire talismans are absolutely a great weapon. Even if their bodies are impervious to blades and spears, they can't withstand the scorching incineration of blazing flames,"

Xiang Chuan watched the eight Corpse Ghouls roaring in the blazing inferno, unable to suppress a triumphant laugh. Yet, no sooner had his laughter faded than a series of crisp crackling sounds emanated from the chains binding the eight Corpse Puppets. Simultaneously, the Corpse-Controlling Gate's Door Master and two others also made their move!
