Chapter 88: All Are Madmen
"He doesn't care at all..." Seeing that her prolonged assault yielded no results and her internal power was nearing exhaustion, Ma Li finally regained her composure, realizing why Bai Mo had only dodged and not attacked.
All her previous attacks, in that man's eyes, were nothing more than a solo performance!
"In that case... Soul Burn - Bloodflame!" she cried out. Instantly, a massive red fireball, centered on Ma Li, expanded outwards, devouring everything in its surroundings with lightning speed.
She staked all her remaining power on this single strike. Ma Li realized that this battle was unwinnable, and having her reason obscured by fury, she had mistakenly wasted most of her Spirit Energy, thus making retreat imperative today.
For over a hundred years, living as a noble, she had never experienced a life-or-death struggle against an enemy stronger than herself, which ultimately led her to commit a colossal error in this sudden battle.
The momentous explosion was merely a facade, a smoke bomb to allow herself and Qiao Zhi to escape. She believed the opponent would undoubtedly dodge first when faced with such a self-destructing attack.
"Darling, let's go!" Amidst the rampant blood-red flames, she pulled up the heavily wounded Qiao Zhi and flew headlong towards her lair, for only there could she find a sufficient sense of security.
"Don't rush." Just as the man and woman were frantically fleeing the explosion's radius, a hand as smooth as jade suddenly extended from Ma Li's chest.
"Shatter!" After piercing through Ma Li's body, the rampant psionic power created ultra-high frequency vibrations, causing the wound on her chest to rapidly tear open outwards, ripping her entire being into several pieces.
"What in the world is this thing?" After grabbing her "fragments" in his hand, Bai Mo used psionic power to scour away the remnants of her will, intending to take them back as material for a research project application.
"Hiss...!" Suddenly, the blood scattered on the ground silently condensed into a hand, which once again grabbed Qiao Zhi and transformed into a streak of light, fleeing away.
"Interesting. I'll let you off for now." Bai Mo glanced at the bloody hand, not stopping them from leaving, but rather planning to catch a bigger fish.
The earlier explosion hadn't caused any damage to his body, but his clothes couldn't withstand it, turning into a tattered mess. Especially the part covering his right hand, which had pierced through Ma Li, had directly shredded into strips of cloth.
Picking up the sample, from which all residual will had been erased, Bai Mo prepared to leave.
Completely tattered, he walked down the street, moving at a speed almost imperceptible to the surrounding pedestrians. Those he passed had barely caught a whiff of blood before a white blur had already swept past them.
When he passed near Qiao Zhi's subordinates' base again, Bai Mo slowed down. He swept his divine sense through the base and found several corpses piled in a corner, their cause of death appearing to be multiple stab wounds from densely packed sharp objects.
"I don't recall killing anyone here. Did they have an internal conflict?" Filled with questions, his curiosity piqued, he continued scanning other parts of the base.
"This traitor, she still dares to resist! Stab! Aren't you good at stabbing, huh!" "Argh!" A man, sneering, plunged steel needles one by one into the fingers of a woman tied securely in the center, followed by a sharp shriek.
"Does anyone know where Qiao Zhi's lair is?" Bai Mo, who had appeared suddenly, asked with an utterly harmless voice.
"Where did this madman come from, daring to disturb Boss Qiao Zhi? Just find someone to break both his legs and throw him out." The man sitting in the co-leader's seat, wearing a thick gold chain, seemed to be in a very bad mood.
"I'm just asking. It's fine if you don't answer; you'll tell me anyway in a moment."
"Hahaha, another one's gone mad." These henchmen, who had only arrived after hearing the commotion, hadn't witnessed Bai Mo's earlier rampage. Naturally, they had no idea that beneath the tattered clothes of this ragged young man lurked a chilling devil.
"......"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Almost everyone in the entire room had a hand explode in an instant. Screams rose and fell, echoing through the hall. This group of Ability Users, unprotected by a Life Field, was utterly defenseless against the psionic attack.
"Can you behave yourselves now?"
A silence fell over the surroundings. Someone tried to rush forward to fight to the death, but as soon as he took his first step, another one of his legs exploded, leaving him to writhe on the ground in convulsions.
"......"
"You're the biggest one here?" Bai Mo asked, pointing at the gold-chained man who had been sitting, but was now slumped.
"Even if we die, we won't betray Boss Qiao Zhi!" The gold-chained man adamantly refused Bai Mo's question.
"What about you?" Bai Mo looked around. Everyone was filled with righteous indignation, their faces contorted, whether from pain or hatred, looking as if they wanted to devour Bai Mo alive.
"In that case, let's switch interrogators first."
With a "snap," the ropes binding Mu Si were torn open by psionic power, and the iron rings that had held her hair in place were also burst apart. Covered in wounds, she fell to the ground.
"I'm letting you go. In exchange, you'll help me interrogate them to find that vampire's lair. They can barely move anything but their mouths, so please, be my guest." Bai Mo gestured.
He was suddenly curious to see how far a madwoman could go.
As he needed to extract information, Bai Mo didn't seal their mouths. He merely used psionic power to pin them all down firmly, then grabbed a small stool and watched the live show.
"Try... not to kill them all. Be careful with that."
Mu Si nodded, emphasizing the "all" in "don't kill them all."
Mu Si first walked over to the man who had tormented her the most just now, the one who had incessantly jabbed needles into her fingers.
All sorts of vile words spilled from his mouth, but Mu Si acted as if she hadn't heard them, inserting her hair through the exploded wound on his arm.
From his divine sense, Bai Mo saw numerous hair-like strands, thin as iron wire, burrowing into the exposed blood vessels and advancing along them, as if trying to take root in every corner.
At first, the man was still cursing, but soon only screams remained. After that, even the screams ceased, because her hair had pierced through his brain along the blood vessels, killing him instantly.
"This is pure torture and revenge, isn't it? What about the interrogation you promised?" Bai Mo, having witnessed the entire process, asked displeased.
He felt nothing towards the bloody scene itself, but the casual manner in which she tormented someone who might have known the answer to death displeased him slightly.
"Scum, deserves to die."
"I seem to have let out a madwoman... A lot seems to have happened just now. Anyway, carry on. Don't touch the gold-chained man in the middle, and just leave two others alive."
"Well? If you still won't talk, keep watching this live movie." Bai Mo twisted the gold-chained man's head to face Mu Si, but the man remained silent.
Mu Si slowly pulled out half her blood-soaked hair from the first person and deliberately walked towards the next....
