Chapter 87: The Taste

"That is precious knowledge we painstakingly gathered over centuries of internal transmission! How could we possibly hand it over so easily to a mere short-lived creature like you?!" As an arrogant vampire from an age of nobility, Mary couldn't bear the opponent's condescending attitude and surrender their valuable heritage before personally experiencing his strength.

Spirit Qi had granted them greater power, also fueling the Blood Clan's boundless ambitions. Bai Mo's relentless pressure quickly caused Mary to lose her patience.

"Perhaps I'll have a late-night snack tonight?" Bai Mo chuckled.

"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!" After negotiations collapsed, he immediately acted without hesitation, directly blasting half of Mary's body with a single palm strike.

He had no warrior's spirit; he felt no guilt whatsoever about attacking without warning, especially when the opponent looked so utterly delicious. Who, before eating roasted chicken, would ever ask the chicken if it wished to be roasted?

The desire to devour these Blood Clan members had always lingered in his heart, though he had kept it suppressed.

However, Mary's blood transformation ability was clearly much stronger than George's. A palm strike that could have severely wounded George was instantly recovered from by her.

The hatred for her lover being harmed, the fury of her pride being trampled—all erupted at this moment.

Mary attacked frenziedly. High-velocity flowing blood covered her hands, and she relentlessly slashed at Bai Mo's vital points as if wielding two high-pressure water knives.

Gazing at the murderous high-pressure water knives before him, he finally grew a little serious.

This woman's control over the blood in her body was clearly far superior to George's. Of course, when Bai Mo considered that this vampire, who appeared to be in the bloom of her youth, was likely an old monster over a hundred years old, he could perfectly understand why she possessed such exquisite control.

Over a hundred years, possessing a body that wouldn't age, even the dullest individual could accumulate something.

Even though he didn't actually need to breathe, Bai Mo instinctively took a deep breath, dispelling the impulse to devour them from his mind. He used telekinesis to pick up shattered stones and dirt from the ground, pelting Mary with them as if teasing an animal.

Constantly "throwing a stone to ask for directions," he attempted to gauge the extent of her lethality through this method.

"Her liquid armor is more than adequate for defense but lacking in offense. It's quite a ways off from the true ultra-high-pressure water knives we have in the materials lab." After half a minute, as he continued to "kite" her, he reached this conclusion.

"But it's not impossible that she could compress it further into a truly offensive water knife." Through just a few rounds of probing, Bai Mo could generally discern that these two water knives posed a very low threat to him. Cutting through an ordinary person's body would be easy, but breaking through his Life Field was virtually impossible.

Even if he stood still and let her hack away, Bai Mo estimated it would take at least one or two minutes of continuous cutting to even open a small incision.

But he had not the slightest interest in close-quarters combat. He never enjoyed fighting; compared to bloody battles, he preferred to quietly zone out alone, let alone engage in a fight where victory held no meaning.

"Do you only know how to run away?!"

After dozens of empty slashes, even the terrifyingly strong female vampire couldn't help but pause for a moment to catch her breath. The awkward frustration of having power but no means to use it made the arrogant woman furious, causing her to hurl a string of nasty insults.

Over a hundred years of being high above, of "sitting and watching the clouds roll in and out," had made Mary forget that she too was once just an ordinary human. Had she not been fortunate enough to catch the eye of a second-generation Blood Clan member, her bones would likely have turned to ash by now.

Seeing that close-quarters combat was completely ineffective, Mary flashed backward, retracting her blood armor, and then unfurled two blood wings from her back, soaring into the sky.

"Blood Dragon Impact!"

The vampire Mary roared, her entire body transforming into a blood dragon, hurtling towards Bai Mo from high in the sky with tremendous acceleration.

"A move that 'kills one thousand enemies but loses eight hundred of your own,' only a vampire like her, so adept at blood transformation, could use it without restraint."

Since she still couldn't fully transform into blood, Mary would, just before each impact, actively detach the parts of her body that hadn't transformed, like a rocket shedding its stages, leaving only the remaining portion to deliver the strike.

"I wonder to what extent the second and first generation Blood Clan members above her have been strengthened by the Spirit Tide. With physiques far superior to humans, the benefits they gained from the Spirit River are likely no less than mine."

"Coupled with their continuous accumulation over several centuries, if their numbers weren't so few, they would probably be a huge headache. But now, with tens of millions of ability users worldwide, their less-than-a-thousand count still won't be able to stir up any major waves."

Bai Mo casually dodged the frenzied attacks from his opponent, barely retaliating, looking like someone enjoying a madman's spectacle. His sufficiently powerful speed gave him this kind of confidence.

"Why do you only dodge?! Didn't you want the secret manual?! Take it! Take it! I'm coming to give it to you! Why won't you catch it?!" Mary, gradually becoming somewhat hysterical, seemed to regard herself as a human cannon with infinite ammunition, continuously bombing him by treating her body as a missile. The area within two to three kilometers around them was blasted into a pockmarked mess.

"It's a good thing the battle moved to the northern mountains; it's practically an unpopulated area. Otherwise, dealing with the aftermath would be troublesome." George, while worrying about his lover, was also concerned that the commotion would become too great and attract the attention of humanity's high echelons.

For centuries, despite possessing prolonged lifespans, they had always kept a low profile, mingling among humans. After all, the Blood Clan were, in essence, once human themselves, and the enjoyment of life was the nature of most people; living in reclusion meant losing out on such pleasures.

During the fierce blood transformation battle just now, some of the fresh blood that had originally adhered to Mary's body, as she used it as a weapon, splashed onto Bai Mo's lips.

Noticing his lips felt somewhat moist, Bai Mo instinctively licked them, only to discover his tongue brushing against a warm liquid. The delightful sensation of it melting on his tongue, and the consuming desire emanating from deep within his body, made him feel as though the one before him was more like a colossal piece of food than a Blood Clan warrior.

"The taste is quite good."

The trace amount of blood that entered Bai Mo's body was digested almost instantly. With his excellent control over his bodily state, he quickly felt a subtle, almost imperceptible increase in his power.

However, the growth in power did not prompt him to immediately succumb to his desire and use all his strength to devour the opponent.

That trace of blood just now was an accident. Before more guinea pigs paved the way, he was unwilling to become the test subject himself.

After pondering for a few seconds, he conceived an even bolder idea. Bai Mo decided to drag the Dao Academy, and even the highest echelons within Huaxia, into the fray....
