Chapter 304: Past Events
"Have a seat." After inviting Bai Mo to sit, Mu Si elegantly reclined on another sofa.
Nearly two months had passed since the battle in Florence. Witch's Sin, having completed their withdrawal, invited Bai Mo to be their guest in their subspace.
"Is this your main base?"
"It's a part of it; we have several other subspaces."
"Your luck is truly remarkable. I've scoured every corner of the Huaxia Federation I could search, yet I've only managed to acquire fewer than ten Kongxuan Crystals—those spatial stones you use to open subspaces."
"It's possible others have hidden them," she hinted. "Would you like to hear our story from the past ten years?"
"Whatever."
"Ten years ago, the day after you left, I took those girls and sent them back to their respective homes. I initially thought that was the end of it, but to my surprise, three days later, one of the girls returned to me."
"When I opened the door, the first thing I heard her say was—'I killed someone.' She told me she had murdered the nosy middle-aged woman next door, stabbing her more than twenty times. She even specifically cut off her tongue and minced it into a paste, all because that woman kept gossiping behind her back about what happened after she was taken away."
"Not long after, another girl came to me in tears. She said her former boyfriend had broken up with her because he couldn't accept her past."
...
"Later, I went to understand their situations one by one. Most of them found life after returning home far from satisfactory; they were almost all still trapped in the shadows of their past. Even I couldn't forget what had happened then."
"So I gathered them, organizing them into a group called Witch's Sin, and trained them to specialize in assassinating the dark forces that brought misfortune to countless people."
"Initially, my idea was simple: I just wanted to give them a spiritual anchor. Because, aside from me, they were all ordinary people, and without professional assassin training, it would have been impossible to mold them into professional killers."
"But later, I realized how terribly wrong I was. In this world, brimming with primal force, there truly are infinite possibilities." She smiled charmingly, though unfortunately, her audience was a block of wood, or rather, a beam of light, not a person.
"Perhaps it was our hatred for this society that fueled us, a group of madwomen. After toiling for more than half a year, we actually discovered a method to distort light using pure mental power, allowing us to become invisible. As long as one's will is sufficiently firm, even ordinary people can achieve it."
"Relying on this invisibility ability, we continuously embarked on what we considered righteous vengeance, slaughtering those who treated women as mere playthings, one after another. From their hands, we seized vast sums of money, and even a few spatial magic stones."
"With this ill-gotten wealth, we grew stronger and stronger. And those few spatial magic stones, after much painstaking effort, finally became a home for our group of broken-hearted individuals."
...
"However, many people also sacrificed themselves in this process. By the time we decided to transition into an assassin organization, over a third of our members had already died."
Mu Si recounted the thrilling story of her group over the past ten years with a casual air, but Bai Mo, seated on the other side, still seemed largely unfazed.
"What you used isn't optical invisibility, is it?" After listening, he immediately cut to the most important reason for his visit. "Such a thing couldn't deceive my projections." raNObes
"I call this method Mind Blockage. Under its distortion, all living beings will subconsciously believe that nothing exists in that location, as long as I don't actively attack." Mu Si had already witnessed his indifference ten years ago, so she remained unperturbed.
"Thermal blocking for machines and light-distortion invisibility can render surveillance cameras useless. Combined with Mind Blockage, which prevents humans from perceiving your existence, it's no wonder there's almost no one you can't kill."
Over the past few days, he had also retrieved information about Witch's Sin from the Huaxia Federation's internal database, gaining a preliminary understanding of the assassin organization.
"It's a pity, though, that killing big figures like you, who possess numerous avatars, is still quite difficult."
Nearly all the powerful figures in charge on Earth possessed their own secret life-saving techniques. Without an attack that bypassed all defenses and struck directly at the true body, like a curse, truly killing them was an extremely difficult feat.
During their conversation, Mu Si also gifted Bai Mo the method for cultivating Mind Blockage, as a way of thanking him for what happened ten years ago.
"Sister, is that the man worth three billion Euros?" As the two spoke, in a corner of the subspace, two girls were whispering.
"Little money grubber, don't even think about it. As long as he hasn't been completely bewildered by Mu Si, he definitely wouldn't let his true body appear here... The self-destruction of a subspace can kill everyone within it."
"It seems someone is plotting against me," Bai Mo said with a smile to Mu Si, having noticed the two girls' conversation through his divine sense.
"Those are orphans we've adopted over the past few years. The girls you rescued wouldn't dare plot against you."
"The idea of Mind Blockage is indeed quite good..." His figure began to dissipate as he spoke.
"You've learned it?!"
"It's quite simple once you understand the principle." Bai Mo switched to using psychic power to disturb the air and create sound, forming a uniform sound field that made it impossible for Mu Si to pinpoint his exact location.
"If it could be turned into a mass-producible technological device, the entire world would likely be transformed by it." He seemed to exist everywhere in the space, sounding the same no matter where one listened.
"The load is too great; I don't think it's possible. For an ordinary human body, cultivating to the point of optical invisibility is already incredibly difficult. As for those who can lock in their body heat and evade infrared detectors, they are almost exclusively low-tier Shadow Mages. And for cultivating Mind Blockage, at minimum, a mid-tier Shadow Mage is required to withstand the strain."
Mu Si categorized the system she had pioneered as a branch of mages—Shadow Mages. Currently, there were only three tiers: low, mid, and high. She herself was still a high-tier Shadow Mage and had not yet managed to cross the exceptionally difficult threshold of a Super-class Mage. However, by relying on her unique Mind Blockage method, she had become one of the very few capable of assassinating targets beyond her tier.
The European Union had commissioned her to assassinate Gang Duo precisely by offering her some experience regarding advancement to Super-class Mage, along with an astonishing quantity of magic materials.
