Chapter 288: Posthumous Affairs
The Martial Path's exploration into the realm of mental will had never ceased. In the course of researching emotions, a terrifying byproduct was discovered: it could, at the cost of slight interference to one's thoughts, selectively erase all emotions pertaining to certain matters.
Initially, it was a young man, heartbroken after losing his beloved. To prevent himself from drowning in sorrow, to transform his grief and indignation into strength, he suddenly conceived of exploring this very direction.
Not long after, relying on his innate talent for researching mental will, he achieved some initial breakthroughs. Full of self-confidence, he immediately used himself as a test subject.
Unfortunately, while the outcome indeed granted him his desired result—he no longer dwelled on his lover’s passing—the side effect was remarkably cruel: he felt no love for the person he had once so deeply cherished.
Though he could recall every detail of their time together, he found himself utterly incapable of expressing any emotion towards her, not even hatred.
Due to these unforeseen circumstances, he decided to forever bury this matter deep within his heart.
It was only later, through the combat power assessment system, that Bai Mo accessed his memories—the unknown history of this Martial Path powerhouse, who was already at the upper echelon of the Fourth Tier.
Following further refinements, the current Golden Apple came into being.
The streaks of light, carrying emotions, all flew towards Maysuo under the guidance of Ying Huo. One person’s emotions might be minuscule, but within the entire Maysuo Nation, over forty million ordinary people, unable to bear the endless torment, had secretly consumed the forbidden fruit that fell from the sky. This had almost become an unspoken secret among everyone.
Ramdo instinctively sensed that something was amiss. He had just assumed his opponent was overestimating himself by distorting the geomagnetic field merely to imprison him. But now, it appeared the more crucial reason was to lure these kaleidoscopic entities and gather them all here!
"What kind of reaction will a god, whose power originated from faith, have when confronted with forty million doubts about that very faith?" Bai Mo did not choose to immediately activate the starlight that had already infiltrated Ramdo’s body; instead, he continued to quietly observe the developing situation.
Gazing at these seemingly harmless streaks of light, Ramdo, for the first time since the battle began, entertained the thought of retreating. His body was incessantly sending frantic warnings, alerting him that the object before him was exceedingly perilous.
However, having reached this point, how could Ying Huo possibly allow its opponent to escape? With a single thought, countless streaks of light surged towards Ramdo, who blazed like the sun at the center of the battlefield.
Neither his shield of faith nor the divine kingdom that had merged with him could withstand these doubts directed at faith itself, for in essence, both were of the same origin.
Ramdo, who hadn’t sustained a single injury throughout his fierce battle with Ying Huo and could truly be said to possess an immortal body, was now continuously crumbling under the erosion of the flowing light. The situation had, in an instant, undergone a full 360-degree reversal.
Like warm sunlight melting snow, his ten-meter-tall God Body, after merging with the divine kingdom, began to incessantly dissolve. The flowing light acted like the most demanding sculptor, ceaselessly refining its creation, until finally, only a less-than-two-meter, scarred and teetering God Body remained.
The God Body and its internal divine core, assaulted countless times by doubts about faith, were now riddled with cracks everywhere. These were his true, inherent powers, while the external aspects were merely constructs piled up with the aid of external Faith Power.
Ten years was still too short; Ramdo had no way to completely refine all the bestowed Faith Power into his own divine might. He could only use faith as a leverage point to amplify the power he could control.
"No!!!!!" he roared towards the heavens, then tried to flee the battlefield at his fastest speed. With his God Body so severely damaged, it was utterly impossible to continue fighting at the previous intensity.
Although his power was reduced to less than one-tenth, he remained among the world’s most elite individuals, with vast wealth still hidden in various locations. Given enough time, rising again after recovering from his injuries would be no difficult feat.
However, at this critical juncture, Ramdo’s mind suddenly went blank. He was stunned for a full two seconds.
"Too late." The situation shifted dramatically; the prepared Bai Mo instantly reclaimed all his power, incidentally detonating the starlight that had accumulated within his opponent’s body. He then condensed a gigantic Xuanhua hand, trapping Ramdo inside, forcibly playing the role of the oriole.
"It’s time we brought this to an end." Up until this moment, Ying Huo had spoken its second sentence.
It restored the distorted magnetic field to its original state, allowing the remaining streaks of light to scatter. They would autonomously seek out all high-ranking members of the One-Wheel Cult who cultivated using Faith Power, and strip away their hypocritical shells.
"Why! Why can I, who cultivated with the power of an entire nation, not compare to you, fellow!" Ramdo, tightly trapped, was utterly unwilling to accept his fate.
"The Maysuo Nation has only a hundred million people, while the Huaxia Federation has one and a half billion," Bai Mo offered an irrefutable explanation. "Even if I can only gain a tenth of them."
After uttering these words, he extended his hand towards Ramdo’s forehead, preparing to forcibly seize the opponent’s divine core, where memories were stored.
Essentially, after attaining godhood, his physical structure no longer bore much resemblance to that of ordinary humans. His body had been completely refined into a God Body, and all core components were concentrated within the divine core.
"I will die before I leave it to you!" Seeing his opponent extend a hand to his forehead, Ramdo guessed Bai Mo’s intent: he wanted to obtain his memories, completely!
"Bang!!!" With a muffled thud, Ramdo decisively self-detonated his divine core, along with his God Body and Divine Kingdom. Under the control of his last vestiges of power, countless fragments transcended the restraints of gravity, scattering randomly to various corners of the world.
Because he needed to set up one final scheme, Ramdo's self-detonation was not particularly powerful; it only destroyed one of Bai Mo's avatars. He still understood the principle of a cornered beast fighting back, and naturally, he wouldn’t personally risk his life to kill his opponent.
According to Ramdo’s final plan, he staked everything on the future: every young person who found a fragment of his divine core or God Body would be subtly influenced by his residual will, ultimately becoming Bai Mo’s enemy.
Those who could pick up these fragments would certainly not suffer from bad luck. He believed that by casting a wide net, someone would eventually soar to great heights and fulfill his vengeance in the future!
"Even on the verge of death, he still laid such a trap." Bai Mo intercepted one-third of the fragments and very easily discovered the trick hidden within.
Of course, for someone standing at his height, it was merely a trick; but for ordinary people, Ramdo’s mental influence would be akin to an act of fate.
"I’ll just wait and see how many years it takes for the first person to fight their way to my doorstep." Bai Mo paid no mind to this scheme; rather, he even found himself developing a peculiar interest in this kind of novel-like revenge plot.
