Chapter 221: Straight to the Point

"You're going to disrupt our current strategic deployment," Chen Bo, as the interim supreme commander, said, feeling somewhat vexed by Bai Mo's unauthorized action.

"Strategy? Our very existence is the strategy!" Bai Mo said coldly.

"Hehehe, I like that. What's the point of overthinking with a massive turtle shell on? Just charge into where the sea monsters are densest, and it'll be over." Teach expressed his agreement with Bai Mo's words, then let out some strange laughter.

"Seconded." The solitary ascetic preferred such actions.

"A bunch of people with no regard for the bigger picture," Chen Bo thought to himself, but his expression remained unchanged.

Unlike Chen Bo, who intended to annihilate this batch of Sea Race creatures, Bai Mo was simply feeling a bit disgruntled and wanted to find something to chop up.

So, he had already split off two avatars in advance. One was responsible for notifying Chen Bo, while the other was tasked with transporting the salvaged pieces of the alien spaceship wreckage back to the testing grounds.

Moreover, as someone whose inherent ability was psionics, his mastery over Xuanhua far surpassed that of others who had just broken through. After all, the control methods for both were incredibly similar, so he even saved the effort of familiarizing himself with his new power.

Wearing the massive turtle shell of Xuanhua, it was truly no easy feat to kill him. Bai Mo's "small goal" of enduring a nuclear bomb back then had essentially been achieved. He estimated that with Xuanhua fully activated, he should be able to directly withstand the attack of a single low-yield nuclear warhead.

The density of water is eight hundred times that of air. Underwater, all small and medium-sized kinetic weapons were largely meaningless. Even ordinary pistol bullets could only travel a few meters after being fired, making them inferior to the impact of cold weapons.

"A human?" Seres, relying on its powerful mental energy, detected the enemy from over a thousand meters away.

Without using his divine sense, which had a scanning range of nearly a thousand meters, Bai Mo didn't immediately discover the presence of the Sea Race's command core. However, he still charged in the direction of the densest concentration of Sea Race creatures, relying on his instincts.

"How dare he... how dare he charge a two-hundred-thousand-strong army alone!" Seres was also stunned. Possessing the Zerg legacy, it naturally wouldn't follow the cultivation paths humans had discovered for themselves, and thus had very little understanding of the newly emerged Xuanhua.

"Kill! Kill! Kill!" Bai Mo directly charged into the Sea Race's outer positions. These were mostly low-level cannon fodder, but they perfectly satisfied his desire to vent.

Just like an ordinary person popping bubble wrap, every time his psionic power "pressed down," a low-level Sea Race creature would burst open. The Sea Race creatures surrounding him, however, were helpless against the massive turtle shell that was Xuanhua.

Even when countless Sea Race creatures attacked simultaneously from all six directions—above, below, left, right, front, and back—their rate of destruction was merely equivalent to Xuanhua's rate of recovery. They simply couldn't land any effective attacks on him.

Of course, this was also due to the lack of control from grassroots commanders. All the low-ranking soldiers only knew how to swarm forward and attack what was directly in front of them, essentially having no concept of focusing fire on a single point.

"As long as he can be held back, it doesn't matter how much cannon fodder on the periphery dies." Seres clearly didn't care about these casualties.

In its view, the enemy's speed in killing cannon fodder was only two or three per second. A two-hundred-thousand-strong army... even if exhausted, they could wear the opponent down to death. It was better for itself, controlling the core of the great detonation array, to remain in the command center.

However, the Zerg Brain Bug also overestimated the Sea Race's morale. It forgot that its subordinates were not battle machines with locked morale, programmed to fight until the last one to complete their mission, but merely a group of semi-intelligent beings who had only recently emerged from a beastly existence a few years prior.

Still not lightly wounded, its control limit over the Zerg army was only a little over ten thousand. So, it simply released some Zerg sub-bases, presenting them as fortuitous encounters to five or six humans, allowing them to act as control relays, and gradually assimilate them into mid-level Zerg commanders during their genetic modification process.

As the supreme authority commander, Seres only needed to directly control the thoughts of these mid-level commanders to indirectly control more troops, greatly reducing its own control burden.

This tactic was naturally not something it had originally devised. The Zerg, having warred across the stars for countless years, naturally possessed a complete set of methods for absorbing and integrating other civilizations. Genetic modification and assimilation imprints were just one part of it.

Unfortunately, given the Sea Race's current level of civilization, it wasn't easy to find mid-level commanders with sufficient intelligence. Even if it found them, Seres wouldn't dare to control them.

Because the current batch of Sea Race individuals with adequate intelligence were almost always also the strongest. Unlike humans, who, thanks to their complete basic education, could have a few ordinary people randomly picked to sufficiently control troops.

Facing an enemy that was utterly impossible to defeat, the cannon fodder units soon began to collapse.

Chaos quickly spread through the ranks. The formations, which had originally shown some semblance of order after preliminary training, were immediately shattered by their own panicked comrades.

After nearly half an hour of slaughter, Bai Mo's mood, which had been slightly disgruntled due to Hua Taishan's death, gradually calmed down. He ceased this meaningless work and began to quickly advance towards the command core, relying on his own observations.

Seres had originally thought the enemy would slowly kill their way through. In that case, it wouldn't need to personally engage in battle, and could simply keep delaying with cannon fodder until it was over. But now, the opponent seemed to have noticed something. No matter how reluctant it was, it could only activate its plan ahead of schedule.

"All Sea Race, heed my command! Block the enemy at all costs! May the Spirit of Nature bless you!"

Activating the plan would take approximately thirty seconds. It certainly didn't want the enemy to disrupt it at the last second, so it allowed ample preparation time. At the same time, it used its powerful mental energy to induce most of the Sea Race into a berserk state.

From Bai Mo's perspective, all the surrounding Sea Race creatures suddenly went berserk, attacking him with suicidal abandon. Thus, he became even more interested in what the command core was doing.

Xuanhua instantly transformed into a streamlined state, and rapidly advanced under Bai Mo's guidance.

Anything in front, ram it aside! Anything else, ignore it.

Carrying immense kinetic energy, he charged all the way until he was less than three hundred meters from Seres. However, he was still blocked by several massive Sea Race creatures, whose bodies were comparable in size to his Xuanhua.

"Although we don't know what the Great Priest is doing, it's always right to block you." These massive creatures were not affected by Seres's mental energy; instead, they began communicating with Bai Mo.

They didn't bear much animosity towards Bai Mo, who was slaughtering in the army formation, because those who died were basically their food to begin with...

This was the first time Bai Mo encountered Sea Race creatures capable of communication, and he felt a bit strange.

"Great Priest? What's that?"

"It is the being that guides us forward," one of them said.

He didn't reply, but instead instantly retracted Xuanhua. He then used his psionic power to propel himself like a small fish, rapidly passing through the gaps between the massive beasts.

The beasts had no idea such a move was possible. This was the sunless deep sea. They hadn't noticed that Bai Mo's essence was a semi-transparent Xuanhua, which encased a core. Instead, they had simply perceived him as a beast of their own size based on their senses.
