Chapter 1056: The Dharma Transmitter's Oath
"World-ending? Isn't that a bit... extreme?" Li Fan's expression was one of stunned disbelief. "As it stands, the Xuanhuang Realm is the only safe haven left in this entire dark star sea..."
Before he could finish, Dharma Transmitter Wei cut him off with a wave of his hand. "Heh, my friend, you misunderstand. We're not talking about actually destroying the Xuanhuang Realm, merely fabricating a catastrophe that an ordinary cultivator couldn't handle—a disaster that would require Jiang himself to personally intervene."
"As long as we can draw Jiang out, the two of us can then appeal to him. We should be able to persuade him to investigate the current five-member ruling council."
A grim glint flashed in Dharma Transmitter Wei's eyes. "Those fiends from the Xuantian Sect, no matter how skilled their disguises, could never withstand the scrutiny of the Dharma Transmitter's Oath!"
"The Dharma Transmitter's Oath?" This was the first time Li Fan had heard the name, and his curiosity was piqued.
"It is a Great Oath that every one of us had to swear when we first joined the Dharma Transmitters. In the name of the Dharma Transmission Heavenly Venerate, before countless comrades who had already sacrificed themselves or were about to, we had to look directly into our own hearts, our very own souls."
"Back in those days, facing the vicious encirclement and slaughter by the Ten Great Immortal Sects, not everyone could hold true to their original convictions."
"To identify the vermin within our ranks, the scrutiny of the Dharma Transmitter's Oath was essential! If a Dharma Transmitter ever betrayed their vow, ten others could convene and forcibly invoke the oath's review."
"Under the illuminating light and questioning of one's own soul, any treachery is laid bare for all to see!" Dharma Transmitter Wei declared with pride.
For a moment, an awkward expression flickered across Wei's face.
"However, as long as we can gather ten Dharma Transmitters, we can definitely expose the Xuantian Sect's conspiracy! Jiang's status is unique; he alone counts for five. With the two of us, that means we only need to find three others to support us!" The white-haired Wei quickly changed the subject.
"With Jiang's prestige, if he's the one to take the lead, it won't be difficult!"
Li Fan nodded. "Our Federation of All Worlds has many surviving cultivators from other cultivation realms. The calamities that befell their worlds were all different. Creating a disaster of a scale that would alarm Jiang..."
"Shouldn't be a problem," Li Fan stated with conviction.
"Then the only thing that remains uncertain... is your claim that Chen and the others have been possessed by Xuantian Sect fiends."
Just when Li Fan thought they had reached an agreement, the two Dharma Transmitters abruptly steered the conversation back to its starting point.
Dharma Transmitter Zhou's voice regained its lazy drawl, the previous urgency to save the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance vanishing in an instant.
"Speculation is still just speculation. If we can launch an investigation into the Alliance's highest governing body without any substantial evidence, what kind of chaos would that invite in the future?"
"Your Federation of All Worlds has been hunting the remnants of the Xuantian Sect for so long, you must know them very well. Can you produce any key evidence?" Dharma Transmitter Zhou asked.
Li Fan fell silent for a moment before speaking slowly. "This Mo Rubin is a cunning and treacherous individual. Many of the secret arts previously used to identify Xuantian Sect members have proven ineffective against him. However..."
He paused, his voice laced with confidence. "The Law Kings of the Xuantian Sect all cultivate techniques passed down by the Xuantian King from the Immortal Realm. They are a self-contained lineage, all stemming from the same source. After mastering these techniques, they can sense one another's presence."
"Based on this principle, it's possible to create a miniature puppet that automatically circulates a Xuantian Sect Law King's technique. When carrying this item, it will naturally resonate if a member of the Xuantian Sect is nearby..."
As he spoke, Li Fan smiled and took out a palm-sized figurine, a small man as translucent and crystalline as white jade, and presented it to the two Dharma Transmitters.
Zhou and Wei took the miniature puppet, and after a moment of inspection, their faces filled with astonishment.
The white jade figure was practically a living thing, the technique circulating within its body on its own.
They could even feel the faint pulse of its life force!
Such craftsmanship in artifact refining...
It was beyond anything the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance could produce!
And with that, their trust in Li Fan's words grew a little stronger.
"You may have this puppet. I trust that with your methods, you'll be able to conduct the final verification. I hope you can do it as quickly as possible."
"The Xuantian Sect fiends have secretly controlled the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance for five years. With such vast resources at their command, whatever they are plotting in the shadows is exceedingly dangerous," Li Fan said solemnly.
"I must also return and report this discovery. I hope it will garner greater attention from my organization."
With that, Li Fan clasped his hands in a farewell gesture and prepared to leave.
The two Dharma Transmitters did not try to keep him.
Li Fan left behind a round disc inscribed with the characters for "Myriad Worlds" as a means of future contact, then hastily departed from Dharma Transmitter Zhou's private sub-world.
Zhou toyed with the Myriad Worlds disc, a strange light in his eyes.
He sent his spiritual sense into the disc and felt as if he had arrived in a starry expanse. However, most of it was shrouded in a yellow mist, with only the faint, distorted shimmer of concealed lights visible.
Only one point of light, representing Li Fan, shone clearly and was open for communication.
Zhou was lost in thought.
Each point of light in that starry sky represented a cultivator from the Federation of All Worlds, and he could theoretically communicate with any of them through this disc.
But for now, only Li Fan had granted permission for contact; the others were hidden by some power.
The other party's consent was required.
Zhou showed the Myriad Worlds disc to Dharma Transmitter Wei.
After a moment, the white-haired Wei let out a soft sigh. "It seems this Federation of All Worlds is indeed real."
"This kind of technology, and that puppet..."
"That fellow, Huang, has truly been derelict in his duties. For such an organization to emerge in the Xuanhuang Realm without us receiving a single piece of information..."
Wei's expression was grim.
Zhou, however, remained noncommittal. "I'll reserve judgment until I see their so-called Longevity stage experts. Everything else is a minor detail. Only the Longevity stage..."
"...is something that cannot be faked. It is the truest measure of an organization's foundation."
A flicker of yearning appeared in Wei's eyes. "The Longevity stage, ah..."
"If I hadn't been bound by my duties as a Dharma Transmitter, I might have had a chance back then. What a pity..."
Zhou shot him a sidelong glance. "Are you trying to fool even me now?"
Wei simply shook his head slightly, offering no defense.
After a moment, he suddenly spoke. "Right, we need to thoroughly investigate those youngsters who carried out the mission this time."
"For him to be so well-informed about your movements, there must have been a mole."
