Chapter 120-1: Grand Plan of Revenge (1) |
“Brothers, smash the ships, quick. If we don’t sink these vessels, the Black Wind race will all run in a moment.”
“Everyone, sweep the Trading House. Buy as many psionic bombs as you can. Blow holes through the hulls and record combat footage. When we divide resources later, submit it to the warband admins for reimbursement.”
“Damn, the psionic bombs at the Trading House got bought out in an instant? Your hand speed is insane.”
“No more bombs. I’ll gouge with a dagger. Those of you who have bombs, hurry up and blast. Make it quick!”
—
Facing the Black Wind race fleeing in panic, the players had no intention of letting them go.
Assassin-build players used Duskhaze form to accelerate to the seashore warships, began planting psionic bombs, and prepared to detonate them to cut off the Black Wind race’s route of retreat.
Many players who couldn’t buy psionic bombs could only chisel the ships with daggers, trying to open breaches and flood them with seawater.
They all knew they carried the hopes of the entire village.
How could they possibly accept letting the Black Wind race escape?
Meanwhile, the players watching the livestream in the Little Black Room all spoke up to cheer them on, urging this group of assassins to work faster.
On the main front.
The ferocious pursuit continued.
Facing Black Wind warriors who kept falling back, God King adopted a restricting strategy.
He had some players protect those who possessed the Inherited soul Bind, then had the protected players use the Bind Inherited soul to restrain part of the Black Wind warriors’ retreat.
At this moment Heiyu had only two choices: abandon that group of racial members, or turn back to kill his way in and relieve the ones being restrained.
And Heiyu’s choice made God King beam with joy.
He chose to protect the racial members who were withdrawing. During the retreat he repeatedly counterattacked to free them, which severely slowed the pace of their evacuation.
It also bought more time for the assassins still chiseling the ships.
Now, Heiyu, who was leading his people toward the coast, was holding the rear and clashing with the players.
With his hunt level 53 combat strength, he could easily one-shot any players who weren’t on the Gargoyle build, yet fear was hard to hide in his eyes.
After several rounds of battle, he realized these strange alien lifeforms seemed unafraid of death.
Over a few engagements, he had led his people to slaughter tens of thousands of aliens, but they didn’t seem to care at all.
He could even see a kind of fanaticism in their eyes, as if this was a hunt, and the Black Wind race he led were merely prey in their gaze.
Such bizarre aliens had never been recorded in the annexed documents attached to the ancestral sea charts.
But regret came too late.
The easy occupation at the beginning made him think he had taken the seabed area of the Colorful Mist Sea Region, yet he never imagined the successive follow-up blows that would come.
In his view, the abilities of this alien group were also extremely strange.
Unlike the overwhelming majority of nearby races who developed single-track combat systems, this mysterious group’s abilities were all over the place: there were elemental-damage output abilities and close-quarters slaughter abilities. The various systems dazzled him, making it impossible to find a targeted tactic.
But most outrageous was the death trait of these mysterious beings.
At the moment of death, their bodily structure collapsed and turned into black smoke that dissipated.
When he was young he had heard the elders mention a mysterious seabed creature that wielded the power of the ocean in battle. Whenever it died, its stable bodily structure broke down, most of the body fused into the seawater and vanished without a trace, leaving only a crystal-like, brilliant core of the head.
That kind of dissolution could be explained by principle, but these mysterious beings before him vanished completely into nothing, leaving not even the slightest trace.
Even so, one could barely attribute it to this alien race’s special life structure, dissolving into the open after structural collapse upon death.
But the bizarre thing was that this disappearance appeared in other ways as well.
For example, an arm of a mysterious being cut off by his weapon would also vanish into nothing the instant the main body died.
It was as if the severed arm still had some unknown link to the body.
Such an absurd life trait left him incredulous.
Watching the racial members around him fall one after another, Heiyu’s expression grew more and more ferocious.
It was for the future of the race that he chose a migration of the entire race, wanting to find a suitable land to recuperate, yet he never thought he would fall into such a desperate situation.
Facing the frenzied counterattacks of the mysterious aliens, Heiyu knew they had to evacuate as soon as possible.
If they kept fighting like this, the casualties of his people would continue to rise.
Once casualties reached a certain point, it would be tantamount to pronouncing the race’s death.
In the Azure Star Sea Region, the weak were prey to the strong. Even if the remaining racial members later found a relatively safe land to establish a homeland, during development they would have to tread on thin ice and guard against raiders from other sea regions. This battle was consuming the Black Wind race’s foundation and future.
Thinking of this, Heiyu let out a battle roar and lunged again at the players charging in, using his fleshly body to meet their offensive, attempting to turn the tide.
His powerful physical aptitude allowed him to charge through the players’ full-force damage output and plunge into the crowd, slaughtering them at will.
Although the high level players present had Inherited soul attributes around level 30, there was still a clear gap compared to Heiyu’s hunt level 53.
The evolution points required to raise the Inherited soul level followed a rising curve. With each level, the required evolution points climb a notch.
The gap might look like just 20 levels, but in truth the disparity in strength was enormous.
This was also why Heiyu could endure the players’ frenzied damage output, roam back and forth across the main front, and the players still couldn’t do anything to him.
As Heiyu kept launching sudden assaults, God King issued new orders.
“Players with Taunt, form a team. Take turns soaking Heiyu’s damage output for a moment. The rest of you ignore him. He wants to buy time for his racial members. The ones we want to keep are his racial members. If he wants to kill, let him. We’ll keep focusing on his people who are still retreating… Players with the Bind Inherited soul, drink your potions and get ready for the next round of mass restraint.”
Through the Owl-Headed Fiend’s perception mode, God King saw through Heiyu’s thoughts and had no intention of paying attention to him, continuing to direct the warband’s players to damage output against the Black Wind warriors.
Discovering that the aliens he was charging at completely ignored him, even striking at his people right in front of his eyes, Heiyu went completely berserk.
The violent drain on his stamina had him gasping for breath, but he didn’t dare stop.
In the midst of fierce clashes, they reached a stretch of white sand.
Realizing they had arrived at the shoreline where the warships were, Heiyu shouted without looking back:
“Heiying, lead the warriors of your lineage to prepare to board the ships…”
Before Heiyu could finish, a racial member appeared behind him, face grave, and said,
“Leader, several warships have been smashed and sunk. There are many alien lifeforms behind us that can turn into black shadows, destroying the hulls.”
Hearing the racial member’s urgent reminder, Heiyu felt as if struck by lightning, a chill rising from the bottom of his heart.
He hadn’t expected these mysterious aliens to try to cut off their retreat without him knowing.
At the brink of despair, Heiyu struck out, blasting all the players assailing him into the air, then shouted loudly.
“Peace talks, I want to negotiate with your leader!”
“As long as you’re willing to let us leave, we can offer half of the resources our race carries as compensation… If we keep fighting, only more of our two races’ people will die.”
Faced with Heiyu’s compromise, the players ignored him completely.
The voice channel filled with scorn:
“Haha, he sure can dream. I may be bad at math, but even I know that letting them go gets us only half, while killing them all gets us everything. Who negotiates like this when we have absolute advantage? Brothers, keep pushing, crush them!”
“Still want to run? Dream on. I’m avenging the half a spirit fish I didn’t finish!”
“They charged ashore and slaughtered us back then. Now that they can’t win, they’re chickening out? You think this is your home, come and go as you please? Kill them!”
“Keep going, I haven’t even had my fill yet. Peace talks your XXXX, all of you can die.”
—
Faced with Heiyu’s attempt to compromise, the players paid him no mind.
For this battle, many players had abandoned ongoing hunts and rushed over.
For example, players who had been fighting the Black Tide, the Swarm, or battling in the Crystal Hall area all chose to die on purpose to come support.
They were about to win; how could they be willing to stop?
