Chapter 495: Pokemon master of tactics: Chapter 495

Alex heard this and thought for a moment.

He didn't know exactly how powerful this Flygon's mate was, but the fact that she had made this offer already told him quite a lot. She wouldn't casually offer someone weaker than herself unless she believed that strength difference was significant enough to make a difference, and would be enough to change the outcome of a negotiation like this.

He looked at her and asked, "How strong is your mate?"

The Female Flygon paused briefly before answering, clearly trying to put something into words that she didn't fully understand herself. "I know you humans use levels to classify strength, but I don't know his level. I can only say that he is stronger than me."

For a moment, Alex didn't know what to make of that vague answer, but he didn't think she was lying. If anything, it felt like she genuinely lacked the ability to measure strength in the same structured way humans did.

He kept a relaxed expression and continued, "Then tell me this, how many of his moves can you withstand? If you can answer that, I can estimate how strong he is."

A faint smile appeared on her face as she replied without hesitation, "One move if he uses his strongest attack moves. Otherwise… two."

This time, Alex was genuinely a little shocked.

A level 62 Pokémon shouldn't be defeated that easily, even by a very effective move. The fact that she could only withstand a single full-power attack meant that her mate had to be far beyond her level.

And the way she said "moves" instead of "move" made it even more telling. It implied that even without going all out, her mate could beat her very easyly.

Alex quickly began calculating in his head.

At minimum, that would put her mate somewhere around level 67. Considering how difficult it is to defeat a Pokémon in one hit without heavy buffs, that seemed like a reasonable lower minimum.

At the same time, her statement that she could survive two weaker attacks moves suggested that her mate probably wasn't much higher than level 72.

That alone gave Alex a surprisingly clear estimate. He leaned back slightly, reconsidering the offer more seriously now.

for three Dragon Gems, he would gain everything this Flygon and her mate had collected over decades—resources that could easily exceed one hundred million Poké Dollars—and, more importantly, he would gain access to a completely new one time trump card.

A Pokémon in the level 67–72 range. That a Pokemon stronger than almost all Elite Four members, strongest Pokémon is.

For a brief moment, his thoughts drifted to Mew and Mewtwo, and the request he had once received.

With help from a Pokémon at that level, dealing with a young Mewtwo might actually become possible.

Still, Alex quickly dismissed that thought.

He had no intention of acting on it anytime soon. He wanted to wait until he had several Champion-level Pokémon of his own before even considering something that dangerous.

He looked back at the Flygon and said, "Alright, this deal sounds reasonable. But you need to understand something, the item you want isn't easy to find."

He continued in a calm tone, "I shouldn't have any trouble obtaining one relatively quickly, but getting all three will take time. It could take several months."

The Female Flygon's expression immediately turned dissatisfied, her wings shifting slightly as tension built in her posture.

she said firmly. "Human, that is not acceptable, I need it quickly. Otherwise, you can forget this deal."

Alex didn't seem bothered by her reaction. Instead, he smiled slightly, as if he had expected this response from the beginning.

he said, raising his hands a little in a casual gesture. "Alright, alright, How about this, I'll give you one Dragon Gem within a week. The other two will follow later, even if it takes a few months."

The Flygon didn't answer immediately.

She remained silent for quite some time, clearly thinking through the implications of that offer.

Finally, she spoke again, her voice calmer but still firm. "That is acceptable, human… but in that case, I cannot give you the entire collection of my pack."

Alex was once again impressed by the intelligence of this Flygon.

The fact that she didn't immediately agree to hand over all of her pack's valuables, but instead adjusted the deal to reduce her risk, showed a level of caution that even many humans lacked.

Alex smiled slightly as he replied, "I understand why you're suspicious, but I don't intend to cheat you. How about this, we meet in exactly one week at your territory. I'll bring one Dragon Gem, you give me one-third of your pack's collection, and we complete the exchange step by step."

The Flygon didn't answer immediately.

She thought about it for a moment, clearly weighing the risks again, but this time the situation was different. Alex had already proven that he was willing to share critical information without hiding the downsides, and his proposal reduced her risk significantly.

After a short pause, she nodded and accepted the deal.

She then added, "My pack lives north of here, deep in the desert. If you ask any Pokémon that has lived there for a long time, they will be able to guide you."

Alex nodded with a faint smile, satisfied that the agreement had been reached. But instead of ending the conversation there, his expression slowly turned more serious.

He looked at her and said, "Now that we're business partners, there's something you should know."

The Flygon's eyes narrowed slightly, sensing the shift in tone.

Alex continued, "What you and your mate did today isn't something humans will simply ignore, especially not the powerful ones who actually rule our world."

He paused briefly before adding, "You probably don't know this, but there are human trainers whose Pokémon are stronger than your mate is. And if several of them work together… you and your mate won't have a chance to run away."

For the first time, the Flygon's composure broke slightly. Shock appeared clearly in her eyes.

For a moment, she couldn't believe what she had just heard. The idea that humans could possess Pokémon stronger than her mate, somebody she considered almost invincible, was difficult to accept.

She stared at Alex, trying to determine whether he was lying.

Alex, however, only smiled faintly. He said calmly. "That's the truth, If I were you, I'd find your mate as quickly as possible and leave this place. And be careful if you see a large number of powerful humans entering the desert."

The Flygon frowned slightly and asked, "Why?"

Alex's expression turned completely serious as he answered, "Because under normal circumstances, powerful humans don't bother chasing Pokémon after a raid."

He held her gaze and finished, "But if they for some reason decide to… they'll come with a level of force that neither you nor your mate can handle."
