Chapter 13

I opened my eyes.

“…It’s been a while since I came out.”

I looked down at my body and then looked around me.

“Hey, you. Lend me your iron staff.”

The thing I accepted was thin and didn’t look very reliable.

“I guess it’s better than nothing.”

It had been two years since I last came out.

Like an idiot, I continued to increase the size of the vessels. And yet the body would suffer when I came out.

It could not last for long.

“…I have to hurry.”

The enemy stayed still as if he was stunned.

I rushed forward and slammed the iron staff into its nose.

In just one hit, the iron staff bent, becoming totally useless.

“Ba-bastard…your mana!?”

“Hey, another one!”

I threw the staff to the side and accepted another one.

Hitting him again would probably result in the same thing.

“Bastard. I’m asking you about your mana. Are you listening to me!”

“Shut up, idiot!”

I and I could not talk to each other.

But we could share some of our memories.

I’m the one that was originally a human. And so I only had the human vessel. I was the weak one that nearly died.

And I am the ogre. If I stay out for too long, my body could not bear it. I’m the strong one.

When I increase the size of my vessel, my vessel increases in size as well.

This is because there are two types. The other me seems to be satisfied with this explanation. I don’t get it.

But there is one thing that I do understand…

“Shut your damn mouth. I’m so big, that I don’t fit in this body. You don’t know how angry it makes me!”

And with that, I thrust the iron staff into its nose.

Then I used the staff to stitch its upper jaw to its lower jaw.

Now it would stop yapping away.

“…Well, seeing as I don’t have much time. I might as well make the most of it.”

As we were sharing a body, breaking it would inconvenience both of us.

This guy in front of me. He has higher mana, but not by much.

According to my memory, I trained in martial arts, swords, and staves every day.

I didn’t know the details, but the moves would probably be useful.

So of course, I would use them.

“Hey. Give me my next iron staff… No, give me all of them!”

I carried all ten of the staves I was given.

“Now, let the hunt begin.”

Oh, this was going to be fun.

I laughed confidently.

My eyes opened.

“Damn…”

The battlefield, once the dust had settled, was horrible to look at.

There were corpses scattered everywhere.

However, most of them were the enemy. Was it because we had won?

“No…it was because they were unable to maintain order.”

After the boss was killed, the enemy arm was thrown into chaos.

Soldiers that were fighting just a moment ago would lose their courage and become weak.

    The rest of the chapter:

The boss was the strongest one. And if that boss was killed, the first thing they would think is that there is no one in their army that could kill the opponent.

Once a commander was killed on the battlefield, the corps commander would have to choose another commander quickly, or the soldiers would remain the same.

And it was because they knew this, that my comrades seemed to have been energized.

In fact, they seemed more like bandits than soldiers.

The enemy had abandoned the stronghold and retreated. My comrades took the enemy’s horses they had won and chased after them.

The wounded were left behind. This was because the healthy couldn’t wait to get out of there.

The ogres gladly killed the surviving enemy soldiers.

Every time they killed someone, their vessel would grow a little.

In other words, they would be able to store more mana.

And so they had no reason to hesitate.

“This really does look like a post-apocalyptic world.”

It was the kind of world I had seen in fiction.

I leaned my elbows on my knees and thought about what I would do now.

I was currently sitting on a head.

    A giant Taiga head.

Yes, its giant corpse was lying on the ground under my ass.

I mean, that’s how I was positioned when I reawakened.

“My friends seem like they’re too scared to come close now…”

    I had memories. Just memories.

It wasn’t me that used the body. It was the other me.

Indeed. Even though it was the same body, the outcome could be so different.

Numerous iron staves had been stabbed into the Taiga’s body. And then the final blow went right through its head.

When I thought back on it, it was a pretty horrifying fight.

“…Damn it. My legs are starting to shake.”

This was an effect of my body staying the same while just the amount of mana changed.

The more mana there was, the more mana coursed through your body. You couldn’t stop it.

Every cell in my body was screaming in pain.

The parts that had been used the most also used the most mana.

Of course, it meant it was easier to get injured.

“Well, seems like they’ll leave me alone. So I might as well sit here for a while.”

We had taken the stronghold and killed the commander, after all.

No one was going to ask me to do more work.

And so I leaned back into the Taiga corpse.

I save that the top of its head had about ten staves in it.

    “…Really, what am I going to do…”

It wasn’t something you were supposed to do on a battlefield, but I closed my eyes.

    I was exhausted.

The enemy had fled, and my comrades were too scared to come close to me.

So I might as well take a nap then.

The original website has some of the chapters divided into pages. The bot that scans for the chapter is ignoring every page except for the first one.

I'm in the process of adding the rest of each chapter to the comments. pressure
