A former young man from Japan is reincarnated as Golan, an ogre in the Demon World.

Currently, war is erupting all over the Demon World, and it is much like the feudal era. Furthermore, the residents of the Demon World are all of the happy-go-lucky sort.

These people will take two steps forward if you take half a step back. Modesty is not a virtue in here.

Regardless of what you think, you have to be strong in order to protect your own rights. That’s the Demon World.

Before he died, his mother told him, ‘you should protect your friends, even if it means risking your own life.’ And while he tries to follow his family’s mantra, problems face him at every corner.

‘I’ll protect all of my family!’ Golan decides, but every day is the dark ages in the Demon World. Collapse

    It's pretty decent. Something like a 3.5

The main problems are the author's unending desire to ramble on and on about lore, the mc becomes dumb, and the mc almost entirely abandons fighting efficiently once he gets his big power boost.

Something to keep in mind: The bot that gets the chapters completely ignored the second page for the first 70-ish chapters. So, for your sanity, I have commented on each of the chapters with the rest of the chapter.

Anybody got Novel recommendations where there isn't any "power of friendship" tropes? I get so sick of the goody2shoe naive mc that always tries to save everybody and everything. I'm tired of the bromancing genre all together.

Okay, so I actually read this. It's an okay read with some annoying things. The action is really under explained, and it's not clear at 1st that he has an alter ego personality that gives him a times 10 strength boost at the cost of his sanity. The mc is in someways, a typical beta mc, but he doesn't shy away from beating people up, and many 'off screen' enemies of his get killed. All in all, if you're bored, it's a decent read.

If you place between a 5-7 on the edgelord tier list, you should be fine.
    A 1 =Whiteknight, a 10=Edgelord.

So, ist it really good or bad?
I always supicious when most jp novel had low rating while chinese were high.

Look for the most part chinese had the most copy paste and psychopath mc for most of their novel. I know because i read a whole bunch of them. But it does very satisfying reading when mc humiliate his enemy, just dont make it on another 100 chapter to do it, i'm boree by that time

While jp, most comments hate this friendship power. But whats wrong with it? As long the story is good and engaging, why not? Sometimes i hate it myself because they update like once a year, wth. Oh i also hate naive, pussy mc which jp use

Btw this is oot, but for korean, i hate the flow on translation, they love to make their character talk all at once and it hard to track whose talking, maybe its translation stuff? Idk

    I-I think he’s being sarcastic?

Obviously. That’s why I jokingly said “this guy gets it” then explained why I don’t like it when authors bs mc and then turn them into demons and calling it demon mc

I have had mental prejudice against Japanese LNs for a while now because most of them are extremely stupid. To sum up most Japanese LNs (Even though there are some good ones out there, I believe that they are few and far between) the mc is usually a beta boy incel who somehow gains a harem and acts like he is 8 even though he is supposedly the reincarnation of a 40 something-year-old man. This novel stopped me from reading the moment it said
Before he died, his mother told him, ‘you should protect your friends, even if it means risking your own life.’ And while he tries to follow his family’s mantra, problems face him at every corner
So essentially with the power of friendship, you can do anything. This doesn't seem like a good life lesson. Why would you give your life for some other people? Like at most, IF YOU CAN, save part, if not all, of your FAMILY. Not some unrelated strangers or acquaintances. I don't know if that is just me being an asshole or not. If someone actually reads through this novel and sees that it is good and is bored enough, please feel free to correct me on my preconceived notions on this novel.

I can already tell the novel would be shit. Something about one guy running around saving people, being naive, then having the "friends" stab him in the back, only for them to say false nothings to get on his good side, then the cycle repeats. Oh, you can't forget when he supposedly learns his lesson, but still gets tricked by them continuously.

You are so right. Fu#k friendship, the mc has to be a psychopath, killing everything that moves. Loot them all. Be a so call demon right. Who needs a friend, who needs family kill your mother if you can, right! That is the badass mc we all want to see!
Why have a relationship just f#ck all the bitches. Social interaction f#ck that only the mc is king "bow down and be the flood ill walk on." All hail the loner mc.

        This guy gets it.

But honestly speaking I see no issue with social interaction but authors should learn to take into account that different races have different ways, cultures , etc. Why make a monster mc who will act human and perhaps even change those around into more human-like? Who’s to say we humans are genuinely right in our interactions? What if it really is worthless in the end. Don’t forget we humans are the type of creatures who would choose death over ntr lol. If an mc is gonna be a demon, act like one. If you want a human good mc just read a f#cking Disney fairy tale, they’re definetly better than a CN or KN.

Oh yea I never really try to group the novel I read based of the Author's Origin. So I don't know.

But sometimes there are just hidden gems that just suit your taste. Like how a high-rated novel might sometimes totally confuse the hell out of you on how did this thing got rated so high. That's honestly worst than finding a bad-reviewed novel that turned out to be good.

I think reader here has experienced this irony. bond

But this is interesting tho. Thanks for the info mate.

I'm not basing the novel on the author's origin, I am just saying that the LN and WN scene in Japan is pretty shit. Even with this, we have a demon wielding a katana with some other demons who all, for some reason, have human morals even though they are demons DURING WAR. I haven't even read this and I can already tell. It isn't original, it has been done better, and it is just oversaturated content. Talking about ratings, you really just have to read the comments. By comments, I mean actual comments. Some sites, WebNovel especially, are just flooded with bots that give 5 stars to get the recommended page, that usually has a spoiler on their comment, and then are just blank/mumbo jumbo that no one understands. You really have to dig deep to find actual reviews that usually say that the novel is crap. I try to be open-minded and read the synopsis and the first few chapters, but I can usually tell if the novel is good based on the content of the first few chapters. Hope that helped welldone

Oh yea I never really try to group the novel I read based of the Author's Origin.

It happens semi-automatic. All people influenced by their environment and different countries have different environment. When you read many novels you can detect author's origin in dozen chaps. Authors grew up on anime for JP novels so more than half of all novels just anime script without books features. Anime btw made for kids, most of them at least, so many authors keep make kid's plot thinking it's good style. (Just my thoughts btw)

That's honestly worst than finding a bad-reviewed novel that turned out to be good.

It's expectation problem. When you see high rate you will expect something good and will dissapoint if it will not but if you see low rate you don't expect anything and will have good surprise if it will be good.
But i still prefer check all high rated novels first coz peoples should like them for some reason (till it's not bots rate).
