Chapter 266: An Yuanyao Feels Nauseous

An Yuanyao sat on the edge of the bed, raising her hand to look at the ring on her finger.

Her mind drifted back to the moment Liu Changqing took her to pick up the ring and the way he gently placed it on her finger.

A warm sweetness filled her heart.

She didn’t even realize that her face was already full of smiles.

Humming a tune, she lowered her hand and stood up from the bed.

She had rested enough.

Even though Liu Changqing had told her that she didn’t need to clean so often, An Yuanyao still wanted to keep their shared living space spotless.

She just couldn’t sit still.

After rinsing the towel in the basin, she walked over to the computer desk and began wiping it down.

Even though Liu Changqing hadn’t used the computer in a while since finishing his novel, she still wiped it clean every day.

Just like before, once she was done wiping the desk, she opened a drawer to organize it again.

That’s when she spotted a notebook inside.

She had seen it a few times before while cleaning and had even asked Liu Changqing about it.

At the time, he had just smiled and said:

"It’s just some diary entries from when I was a kid."

She hadn’t thought much of it then and simply put the notebook back.

But today, for some reason, she felt an urge to open it…

Hmm… Liu Changqing’s childhood diary?

Curiosity stirred within her.

Taking the notebook, An Yuanyao stood up from her crouched position and sat on the chair, staring at it for a moment.

After a brief hesitation, she flipped it open.

The handwriting was a bit messy, but she had no trouble reading it.

Each diary entry wasn’t too long—some she could skim through in just a few seconds.

As she read, a soft chuckle escaped her lips.

Through these old entries, she seemed to catch glimpses of the past Liu Changqing.

The thought that he had actually done the things written in the diary made her laugh.

Muttering to herself, she said:

"Changqing has changed so much compared to before..."

Her hands continued flipping through the pages.

After a few more entries, the content suddenly stopped—the following pages were blank.

She froze for a moment.

Instinctively, she turned a few more pages…

Then, she saw something that made her pause.

On one of the blank pages, there were two names written.

Liu Haicheng

Hao Jing

Unlike the messy handwriting in the previous entries, these names were written in a much neater and more formal style—it didn’t seem like the same handwriting at all.

She didn’t think much of it and turned the page.

This time, her hands stopped moving.

The entire page was covered in writing.

But the only words written were those two names—again and again.

Liu Haicheng. Hao Jing.

Seeing this, An Yuanyao was puzzled.

She kept staring at the names, and before she realized it, she started muttering them out loud.

"Liu Haicheng… Hao Jing… Are these Changqing’s parents?"

She knew that Liu Changqing’s parents had passed away.

She had even asked him about them before, but after learning they were gone, she never brought it up again.

Now, seeing this entire page filled with their names, she suddenly felt a pang of heartache.

Lifting her hand, she gently ran her fingers over the names on the page.

Changqing… must miss them so much…

Her thoughts drifted to the moment he wrote these names, imagining the overwhelming longing he must have felt.

After this, there were no more diary entries—only blank pages.

Noticing this, An Yuanyao closed the notebook and held it in her hands.

She also took out a few scattered items from the drawer, planning to tidy everything up later.

The sound of a key turning in the lock pulled An Yuanyao’s attention away from the television.

Before she could get up, she saw Liu Changqing stepping inside, carrying several bags.

Slightly surprised, she stood up and walked toward him, her voice carrying a hint of curiosity.

"Why are you home so early today?"

"Nothing special… just felt like coming back. But forget that—look what I bought!"

His voice was quiet at first, but in the second half of the sentence, he deliberately changed the topic.

After switching to slippers, he lifted the bags in his hands, showing them to her.

The items inside caught her attention.

“This is…”

“I saw a bakery on my way back—it was packed, so I bought some stuff. Got a few cupcakes, some cream puffs, and donuts… You and Xiazhi both like these, right?”

“…But isn’t this a bit too much?”

“There was a grand opening deal. I couldn’t stop myself.”

Jokingly, Liu Changqing carried the bags over to the coffee table, placing them down before taking out the neatly packaged desserts.

Each one was beautifully wrapped.

The cupcakes came in little boxes, and the cream puffs and donuts were individually packaged.

An Yuanyao naturally sat beside him.

She really couldn’t resist sweet things, and her gaze landed on the treats on the table.

Xiazhi loves cake—I’ll save some for her when she gets home…

Just as she was thinking this, Liu Changqing opened the box of donuts, took out two, and handed one to her.

An Yuanyao reached out and accepted it.

Liu Changqing took a bite, chewing and swallowing as he evaluated the taste.

It was decent, but he didn’t understand why some people were so crazy about donuts.

An Yuanyao also took a bite.

But before she could swallow, a sudden wave of nausea surged through her.

Her chewing stopped abruptly.

Meanwhile, Liu Changqing quickly finished his donut, turning to glance at her—only to notice her face looking off.

He froze for a second, then asked,

“…What’s wrong?”

“…”

An Yuanyao didn’t respond.

Instead, she quickly set the donut down on the coffee table, stood up from the sofa, and rushed over to the small trash bin nearby.

Leaning over, she spat it out.

Liu Changqing immediately followed her, his hand gently rubbing her back.

"Did you eat something bad? Feeling nauseous?"

After dry heaving a few times, An Yuanyao finally felt a little better.

She straightened up and walked back to the sofa, but her appetite was completely gone.

Liu Changqing quickly fetched a glass of water, handing it to her.

She took a sip, swished it around her mouth, and spat it into the trash bin Liu Changqing held out.

Her face still looked a little pale.

Seeing this, Liu Changqing grew concerned.

"Are you feeling better?"

“…Yeah.”

She nodded but then stared at the desserts for a moment.

Then, turning to Liu Changqing, she spoke lightly—

"Can you take those away…? Just looking at them makes me feel sick…"
