Chapter 453: My Plan |
The numerous demons spread out like ripples, rapidly converging with the immortals of Huaxia and the Greek Realm to relay Du Yu's commands.
Mahakala keenly sensed the shift in the winds on the battlefield.
It seemed something highly unusual was unfolding.
He had only one goal this time: to wage war against Du Yu.
Someone had once pointed out his future path, claiming that if he could mobilize the entire might of the Extremely Dark World to hunt down and kill Du Yu, he would undoubtedly be able to purge the world.
However, that person had repeatedly emphasized and warned him to "try not to kill Du Yu," which left him deeply puzzled.
Now, Mahakala could not catch a glimpse of Du Yu at all. The man seemed capable of appearing anywhere at will, which was incredibly bizarre.
In the next second, Du Yu appeared right before the Northern Emperor.
The Northern Emperor's eyes turned cold, and he subconsciously took a step back.
"A favor?" The Northern Emperor looked at Du Yu in confusion and asked, "You and I have only met once. Why do you need my help?"
"Because I am going to win this battle, and I know you will definitely place your bets on the right person," Du Yu said with a smile. "No one else is suited for this task. You are the only one."
The Northern Emperor's eyes darted slightly before he replied, "I have no problem helping you, but let me make this clear up front: if there is any danger, I will retreat immediately."
"Relax." Du Yu pointed at the massive Buddha in the distance and said, "This time, I am going to let you achieve a great merit."
"Achieve a great merit...?" The Northern Emperor glanced at Mahakala in the distance, his heart full of doubts. "Do you have a way to kill that giant Buddha?"
"Follow me." Du Yu flashed him a smile, then took to the sky and flew straight toward Mahakala.
At this moment, the Terminator was watching this scene unfold from within the Cave of Time. The moment he laid eyes on the Northern Emperor, he understood.
This person had already been turned into a Great Pivot by Du Yu.
Du Yu had returned several days late after the tale of Xu Fu, so he must have made ample preparations.
And this was precisely one of them.
Seeing Du Yu and the Northern Emperor flying toward him, Mahakala slightly widened his enormous pupils, staring intently at the two of them.
"Kneel, Du Yu," Mahakala demanded coldly. "Otherwise, you will regret this."
"Regret? Hahahahaha..." Du Yu was genuinely amused by Mahakala. "Nothing I've endured has ever made me feel regret, yet you think refusing to kneel will make me regret it?!"
Seeing Du Yu's stubbornness, Mahakala abandoned all courtesy. His two massive fingers twitched, causing a figure in the distance to come hurtling forward at breakneck speed. It was Dong Qianqiu.
Noting this, Du Yu also gently waved his finger. Dong Qianqiu immediately froze in midair, unable to advance even a single inch further.
The Northern Emperor had been about to slip away, but after witnessing Du Yu's methods, he stopped in his tracks.
"Mahakala, I suggest you do not provoke me," Du Yu warned. "If you have a grudge against me, then face me in a fair fight. If you dare target anyone else again, I will make you die in the most agonizing way possible, leaving not even ashes behind."
"Agonizing?" A sinister grin spread across Mahakala's gigantic face. "Do you have any idea how much Suffering I have endured? What can mere pain possibly do to me?"
"Hahaha! Your 'Suffering'?!" Du Yu scoffed. "Your trivial little 'Suffering' is nothing more than a joke to me."
"Hmph! You're just bluffing!"
Ignoring Du Yu's warning, Mahakala reached out his hand toward another direction.
A petite figure was violently yanked forward.
Sighing, Du Yu flicked his finger lightly to halt the figure's momentum.
The slender figure appeared to have already fainted. A look of worry crossed Du Yu's face as he flew forward and caught her in his arms.
"Mahakala, I told you not to do this, yet you insisted on stepping on a landmine." Du Yu gazed down at Shiranui Asuka in his arms, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from her face.
Only then did Mahakala realize that the man before him wasn't bluffing at all; he genuinely seemed to possess overwhelming power.
"Northern Emperor, I'll leave the rest to you."
Du Yu traced a circle with his hand, conjuring a Portal right in front of him. With a light push, the Portal shot rapidly toward Mahakala, ultimately attaching itself directly to his abdomen.
"You...!"
Before Mahakala could even react, the Northern Emperor rocketed forward and dove straight into his body.
In a short while, the muffled sounds of a fierce struggle echoed from within the massive Buddha.
Du Yu knew the matter was far from settled.
Mahakala's true body possessed a powerful defensive barrier; it could only be breached when his state of mind was unstable.
Thinking of this, Du Yu slowly raised his head and called out to Mahakala, "Little monk, a couple of days ago I ran into a friend who called herself You Si. Do you still remember her?"
"You..." Mahakala froze. "What did you just say?"
"You Si told me that the greatest regret of her life was saving a little monk outside a certain village," Du Yu said with a smirk. "That arrogant little monk continuously tried to force her to ascend to the Extremely Dark World forever, crushing her to death with that giant, filthy hand every single time. She had finally had enough."
"You... That's impossible!" Mahakala roared. "Creating Ultimate Darkness was Mother's dream! She would never oppose it!"
"Is that so?" Du Yu shook his head slowly. "Then why did she run away every time she saw you? Why didn't she ever ascend to Ultimate Darkness whenever she died?"
"That... That's because..."
Mahakala furrowed his brow, suddenly contorting his face in a display of intense agony.
"Ah!"
The black Buddha continuously swelled and expanded, then desperately clawed at his own throat as if he were being violently choked.
Du Yu knew that the Northern Emperor had succeeded.
"Kill him, Northern Emperor."
Inside the massive Buddha's body, the Northern Emperor was utterly shocked to discover that the little novice monk before him was actually so fragile. Was this truly the extent of Mahakala's strength?
He extended several strands of hair, viciously wrapping them around the little novice monk's neck, and with a swift, subtle twist, decapitated him completely.
The head of the giant black Buddha also slowly toppled to the ground.
To everyone's sheer disbelief, Mahakala had fallen.
The war had only just begun, yet the enemy's leader was already slain.
The immortals didn't even understand what they were doing here anymore.
"Old man He, you're up," Du Yu declared.
He Suoyi slowly materialized beside Du Yu and asked, "Are you telling the truth? Are you really going to yield the Ultimate Dark Bodhi Heart to me?"
"I've already killed Mahakala for you. Doesn't that prove my sincerity?"
He Suoyi sneered faintly before saying, "You'd better not regret this..."
"You'd better not regret it either," Du Yu chuckled.
"Why would I regret anything?!"
With that, he flew out and made a beeline for the Portal, swiftly vanishing into its depths.
Seeing this, Du Yu slowly channeled his magic and sealed the Portal completely.
A short while later, the Northern Emperor's Voice Transmission echoed: "Du Yu, what's going on? Who is this old man? Why can't I find a way out?"
Du Yu landed on the ground, gently set Shiranui Asuka down beside him, and spoke:
"Northern Emperor, you don't need to come out. Killing Mahakala requires one person on the inside and one person on the outside, and I can only be on the outside. Furthermore, most of the people on this battlefield capable of killing Mahakala are my friends, and I couldn't bear to send any of them in. Thinking about it, you were the most suited for this job."
"You played me?!"
Du Yu smiled and replied, "Not at all. I let you achieve a great merit by perishing together with Mahakala. The entire Immortal Realm will remember your contributions. We will never forget you."
"What...?!" The Northern Emperor's voice was filled with sheer panic. "Du Yu! This is completely different from what we agreed upon!"
"No, it is exactly as we agreed." Du Yu slowly shook his head. "One million years ago, I told you that you were destined to die here after all."
