Chapter 67: Exploring the Church

The church at night was extremely quiet.

Watching her body move closer and closer to the church against her will, Vivian felt resistant inside.

Running to a church to steal things was simply far too excessive!

Lord God’s actions were completely blaspheming the gods!

But… if Lord God wanted to blaspheme the gods, then so be it, but why did he have to drag her along too?!

Naturally, Vivian’s protests were completely useless.

She could only helplessly watch as “she” arrived at a section of the church courtyard wall.

Then, at some unknown point, the Blood-Red Scythe appeared in her hand.

Immediately afterward, “she” climbed in a few quick movements to a window made from some unknown material.

Then “she” carefully began cutting at it with the scythe.

It looked like Lord God intended to cut open a hole large enough for himself to crawl through.

Because Lord God was also being careful, the noise produced was minimal.

Thus, as the sharp scythe swept across the window, not even a single scratch was left behind.

Then Lord God tried many more times. His movements gradually changed from gentle to increasingly forceful. Clearly, Lord God was beginning to grow irritated from embarrassment.

This entire sequence nearly made Vivian laugh out loud.

Lord God’s plan had failed.

He could not even enter now.

That also meant she would not have to go inside and do this kind of sneaky thievery.

This made Vivian secretly breathe a sigh of relief.

“Next, Lord God should try other windows!”

“But unfortunately, naive Lord God, every single window in this church is equally sturdy. It’s impossible for you to find a breakthrough point!”

“You should just give up already!”

At that moment… her body uncontrollably yawned.

“So sleepy…”

“It’s already very late. Lord God, stop messing around and hurry back to sleep.”

But at that moment—

“Hm? You’re actually sleepy.”

The Evil God’s voice rang out.

This made Vivian freeze for a moment.

She had not expected Lord God to care so much about her body.

Vivian suddenly felt somewhat flattered.

However, before she could even feel touched—

“she” took out a bottle of potion.

“This is?”

Vivian quickly realized the potion’s effect.

“Could it be?!”

In an instant, Vivian realized something was wrong.

Then the potion went down her throat.

The previous drowsiness instantly vanished, and she became fully energized again.

“Now there’s no problem.”

Jiang Chen’s voice rang out.

No problem? What part of this was no problem?! Vivian felt like she was going crazy.

Using drugs to forcibly raise one’s mental strength was simply too excessive!

But before Vivian could continue panicking, “she” moved again.

What did she see?!

Lord God gave up on destroying the window and instead shifted his gaze toward something else—the window frame.

“This window should be worth something good.”

After trying several times and still failing to damage the window, Jiang Chen immediately confirmed this conclusion.

“If I remove this window, maybe I can even sell it for some money later.”

As he spoke, Jiang Chen began operating.

Not long afterward, Jiang Chen successfully removed the entire intact window along with its frame.

After storing away the window, Jiang Chen’s gaze shifted toward the church below.

Because he had adjusted the gamma settings, the dark church looked almost no different from daytime in Jiang Chen’s eyes.

Carefully jumping down from the window, Jiang Chen simultaneously activated Stealth Mode.

“I have to admit, stealth really is an indispensable part of all open-world MMOs.”

While speaking, Jiang Chen swept his gaze around and slightly frowned.

“This is getting troublesome!”

Areas of observation vision were visible everywhere around him.

The moment he entered those zones, he would immediately be discovered.

“What the hell!”

Jiang Chen looked toward the sources of those observation areas, and even he was startled.

On both walls of the church and on the stone pillars beside the seats, all kinds of carved reliefs served as observation points.

To put it simply, those relief carvings were basically magical versions of surveillance cameras.

For example, not far from him, the carved head of a snake was slowly rotating as it observed every movement around it.

Originally, Jiang Chen thought infiltrating this place would be very simple, but now it seemed he had overthought things.

“This actually has some difficulty!”

Looking at the more than twenty constantly moving observation fields, Jiang Chen knew things had become troublesome.

“Why are there so many cameras here? Could there really be something valuable hidden inside?”

Jiang Chen muttered.

“Forget it. I’ll search around the perimeter first.”

However, after taking only a few steps, Jiang Chen realized how serious the situation was.

It was absurdly excessive. As long as even the slightest sound was made, those relief carvings would immediately look toward the direction the noise came from.

“Damn it, they even have sound tracking.”

This made Jiang Chen even more certain that something valuable was definitely hidden here. Otherwise, the security level would never be this high.

“Very good!”

“This kind of challenge is exactly what makes things interesting!”

As he spoke, Jiang Chen scanned the surroundings and quickly noticed several coarse cloth sacks piled near the wall corner.

Those sacks had likely been brought by believers. They had probably contained something previously, but the contents had already been removed.

Sneaking over to the sacks, Jiang Chen selected the largest one and put it over himself.

“This should work now.”

Work for what? Vivian felt puzzled.

Through Lord God’s earlier muttering, Vivian had already figured out the situation here as well.

So Lord God was actually expecting to fool these magical creatures with nothing more than a coarse cloth sack?

Lord God was so naive that Vivian almost wanted to call him innocent instead.

So Lord God, could you stop fooling around already? There was absolutely no way this method would work.

However, recalling Lord God’s performance in the alley earlier, Vivian actually felt slightly uncertain inside.

Could it really fail to detect him?

Vivian thought this to herself.

But very quickly, she denied the idea.

How could that be possible!

The group that chased into the alley earlier failing to notice him could be explained by them being blind, but these here were magical creatures. There was no way magical creatures could also be blind, right?

Obviously impossible.

However, before she could think further, Vivian saw Lord God deliberately throw out one of the coarse cloth sacks. Clearly, Lord God intended to test whether the sacks would be detected.

Immediately afterward, Vivian saw one of the snake carvings notice the sack. Then a red light swept across from its eyes.

The cloth sack instantly turned into ashes.

Seeing that scene, Vivian subconsciously swallowed nervously.

If that attack hit her body, with her small physique there was absolutely no way she could withstand it.

There was definitely no way she could survive that!

At this moment, Vivian only wanted to leave this place.

Yet Lord God stubbornly insisted on staying.
