Chapter 24: Vivian’s Decision!

“I feel like, given my current situation, the chances of me being targeted are pretty high.”

Among the Ten Origin Races currently unlocked in the game, the Human race had the weakest foundation.

At the start of the server, all players had likely checked the Leaderboard.

And his initial combat power on the Leaderboard had been 36.

Then after drawing a Class, his combat power directly increased by around 1000.

“By this point, any player who paid even a little attention to the rankings would probably notice something was wrong.”

“With this kind of increase, if others don’t know the cause, they’ll likely think I obtained some powerful equipment.”

“Even if they suspect it’s related to my Class, not long after, my combat power nearly doubled again. At that point, what explanation could they possibly come up with?”

“Using the Class as an excuse wouldn’t hold anymore.”

Jiang Chen was certain that, if nothing unexpected happened, most players would now assume that he possessed a top-tier piece of equipment capable of increasing combat power by around 1000.

And that was exactly what gave him the biggest headache.

“This is getting troublesome.”

Currently, the Ten Origin Races in the game were: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Dragon Race, Succubus, Dark Elf, Goblin, Giant, and Nightmare Race.

The Goblin had already been eliminated, leaving nine races remaining.

“Right now, aside from the Dragon Race, Giants, and Succubi—these three races would have a hard time entering Human territory. The others all have varying degrees of trade relations with Humans.”

“It’s much easier for them to enter Human territory.”

“The more famous I become, the more likely I am to become their target.”

Thinking of this, Jiang Chen couldn’t help but sigh.

“Looks like I’ll have to be more careful of other races from now on.”

Jiang Chen had no intention of following in the Goblin Player’s footsteps.

……

While Jiang Chen was still thinking about what to do next,

almost at the exact moment he exited the game, Vivian’s side began to change.

“I can move?”

She slightly moved her body, her tone filled with surprise.

“It’s finally gone!”

“The Evil God is finally gone!”

But recalling how the Evil God had left briefly during the day only to return again, Vivian still felt uneasy.

So she sat in her room for quite a long time.

Only after confirming that she could truly move freely did excitement immediately surged within her.

“Waaah… the Evil God is finally gone!”

“This is so touching!”

“Heaven knows what I went through today!”

Vivian was certain that everything she experienced today was more thrilling than everything she had gone through since childhood combined.

She had casually wiped out more than twenty members of the Death Church, made a grand showing in the Eternal Tower, even offended an Enforcement Officer, and finally bargained with the principal.

“This is just too surreal.”

While recalling everything from the day, Vivian walked into the bathroom.

The bathtub had already been filled with water.

She removed her clothes.

Vivian stepped into the tub, leaving only her small head above the water.

“Ugh… even though the Evil God is gone, what should I do next…”

Thinking back on everything she had done today, although it all seemed impressive…

Her gaze fell onto the necklace around her neck.

“I should return this to the principal tomorrow.”

“I wonder if he’ll be angry.”

For a moment, Vivian couldn’t help but let her thoughts wander.

But she also knew clearly—she had no other choice.

She was just a weakling. The only reason she had performed so brilliantly today was entirely because of the Evil God.

At this moment, Vivian’s emotions were complicated.

The Evil God had given her wealth she had never even dared to imagine, and she had also gained the academy’s attention.

If it were in the past, even in her wildest dreams, Vivian wouldn’t have imagined something this outrageous.

“But none of that matters.”

“Cutting ties with the Evil God—even if I become nothing again, even if the academy’s opinion of me drops sharply…”

“That’s still fine.”

She subconsciously clenched her small fists.

With a splash, Vivian stood up from the bathtub. Water droplets slid down her body. At that moment, it was as if she had made an important decision!

She was Vivian!

Not a puppet of the Evil God!

And she would never worship the Evil God.

Even if she became just an ordinary person again, she could accept it.

The education she had received since childhood would never allow her to walk the same path as the Evil God.

Vivian had already decided—starting from now, she would never again use the power granted by the Evil God.

She would return to being the ordinary Vivian she once was, even if everyone mocked her!

“Right! That Holy Chalice!”

Suddenly, Vivian thought of the Holy Chalice that might be the root cause of everything.

She got up, dried her body with a towel, wrapped herself in a bath towel, and ran toward the living room.

She remembered that the Holy Chalice had been placed there.

As long as she threw it away, she should be able to completely sever her connection with the Evil God.

But the moment she rushed into the living room, Vivian froze.

On the window, at some unknown point, there was now an octopus-like monster emitting a dark aura.

It was clear that the creature had just crawled in through the window.

At that moment, their eyes met.

The scene fell into silence.

“Ahhh!! Help!” As Vivian’s scream rang out, the once quiet noble apartment instantly became noisy.

At some point, Misty Moon Dream had already appeared in Vivian’s hand.

Then it transformed—from an umbrella into a blood scythe.

Vivian assumed a combat stance. Feeling the evil aura emanating from the octopus monster, she subconsciously swallowed.

“Waaah… what is this thing?”

In an instant, Vivian seemed to recall what the Evil God had said earlier while controlling her body in front of the principal.

“Could it be…”

“The Death Church…”

The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed!

At this moment, Vivian was on the verge of tears.

“Lord Evil God, why did you have to say that back then!”

Vivian was certain—if not for that one sentence, this situation probably wouldn’t have happened.

With the principal’s attention, the Death Church would likely have been eliminated before making a move.

“Waaah… Lord Evil God, you’ve really doomed Vivian!”

At this moment, Vivian felt her legs trembling, afraid that the octopus monster would suddenly attack.

Seeing Vivian already in a combat stance, the octopus creature was stunned for a moment. Hearing the commotion outside, it hesitated briefly before quickly retreating.

Watching the creature leave, Vivian, who had been forcing herself to endure, suddenly felt all her strength drain away and collapsed onto the ground.

Her body trembled uncontrollably.

“T-too… too scary…”

Even her voice trembled.

Thinking of the creature just now—the suction cups on its tentacles filled with sharp teeth, its crimson eyes, and the ominous aura surrounding it—

At that moment, Vivian finally understood the gap between herself and the Evil God who had controlled her body to fight monsters in the Eternal Tower earlier.

She didn’t even have the courage to face a monster.

But what Vivian didn’t know was that, not far from her residence,

the old principal Gavin Murdock was silently observing everything.

“I didn’t expect that not only the Death Church, but they have also arrived.”

“But… what exactly is going on with this Vivian?”

The old principal felt puzzled by Vivian’s current behavior.

But in the end, he shook his head. His figure moved as he chased after the retreating octopus monster.
