Chapter 536-1: Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva, How to Cheese the Trial Mission (1)

[The White Elephant Demon presents the scripture and lets you browse its contents…]

[What is recorded in the scripture is the legendary story of Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva attaining enlightenment, and it also comes with a passage of God-Inviting Spell…]

[…]

[In ancient times, Bingzhou had a virtuous woman named Mistress Ma Lang. She was extremely beautiful, aged around twenty-four or twenty-five. She walked alone through the city markets, and all young men associated with her, were intimate with her, and shared her pillow. Mistress Ma Lang bestowed lust upon all people, and all who lay with her forever severed their lust.]

[Mistress Ma Lang died after several years. None of the people of the province did not grieve and pity her. They pooled funeral supplies and buried her…]

[Suddenly, a Brahmin monk came from the west. Seeing the grave, he sat cross-legged, paid respectful worship, burned incense, circled it, and praised it for several days, saying seek my companion. When people saw this, they said, This is a wanton woman, and everyone was her husband. Why does the monk respect her?]

[The monk said, This is not something benefactors know. This is a great Saint, with compassion, joy, and giving. There is no worldly desire She does not follow. This is the Collarbone Bodhisattva. Her favorable karmic conditions have ended, as the Saint says.]

[Everyone did not believe it, so they opened the grave to verify it. They saw that the bones across her entire body were hooked and linked like locks. It was indeed as the monk said.]

[The Brahmin monk lifted the corpse bones with his staff, rose into the clouds, and departed west…]

[The rough meaning is that in ancient times, Bingzhou had a Mistress Ma Lang who was very beautiful. She did not refuse intercourse with anyone, and promised that those who had relations with her would forever sever lust.]

[Mistress Ma Lang died a few years later. Those who had joined with her were all very sad and buried Mistress Ma Lang.]

[Suddenly, that monk from the west sat cross-legged and burned incense before Mistress Ma Lang’s grave, not leaving for several days, saying that he wanted to find a companion who shared his aspirations.]

[When someone saw this, they asked the monk, This is merely a woman of indulgence. Monk, why do you respect her so much?]

[The monk answered, It is not as the benefactor thinks. This is the great compassion only gods, Buddhas, and Saints possess. Mistress Ma Lang delights in giving. Toward all desires and needs of worldly people, she can follow and guide them with great tolerance.]

[Mistress Ma Lang is Collarbone Bodhisattva. Her karmic conditions in the human realm and mission of teaching sentient beings have already been completed. All favorable karmic conditions have reached the stage of perfection. This is what gods, Buddhas, and Saints say.]

[Everyone did not believe it. They dug open the grave and opened the coffin to examine the corpse. Mistress Ma Lang’s corpse bones were indeed as the monk said, hooked and linked like locks. She was a Collarbone Bodhisattva.]

[The monk lifted Mistress Ma Lang’s corpse bones with his Chan staff and thereby attained the Dao and departed west…]

[T/N: I dunno why the author decided to essentially repeat the same thing.]

[According to the scripture notes, Mistress Ma Lang’s Collarbone Bodhisattva is not Her true Buddha name. Her Buddha name is actually Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva, while the monk was Mahakasyapa Buddha in an incarnation descended to the mortal world.]

[After Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva attained the Dao, She became the side attendant beside Mahakasyapa Buddha…]

[At the end of the scripture is a passage of God-Inviting Spell, and it also notes that after Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva attained the Dao, She would still often descend to the mortal world and manifest divinity, using Her physical body to give to those harboring great lust, guiding and eradicating the afflictive desires of believer disciples.]

After Lin Xun finished reading the scripture, he could not help making a complaint. “What kind of public bus is this?”

After finding the method to make Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva willingly descend to the mortal world, he could proceed to the next step of the plan.

[The trial mission has a 12-hour acceptance time. You do not accept the trial for now, and instead ask the Librarian…]

[Since the trial mission is an instance mission, what happens if monsters in the instance leave the instance range before the trial opens, and still have not returned to the instance when the trial opens?]

[The Librarian adjusts his monocle and says, Apostle, there are no clever loopholes.]

[Although the instance cannot be entered or exited during the trial, if an enemy leaves the instance range before the trial, they will also be forcibly teleported back into the instance when the trial officially opens.]

[If you are thinking of luring Mahakasyapa Buddha down to the mortal world, then starting the trial mission to exploit a time difference and enter… I can only say you are thinking too much.]

[You nod, temporarily bid farewell to the Librarian, and return to the temple’s main hall with the White Elephant Demon.]

[The White Elephant Demon looks at the life-sized beautiful Bodhisattva statue and says with righteous resolve, Junior Brother, this matter is my duty. Let Senior Brother invite the god. I guarantee I will subdue this Bodhisattva until She is perfectly obedient!]

Freedom Temple was Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva’s Incense Power dojo, but ordinary temples did not only enshrine a single god or Buddha, especially in the case of a side attendant like Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva.

Some ordinary temples placed Skanda Deva in the Heavenly King Hall at the entrance. Even if some large temples primarily enshrined other gods and Buddhas, they would still set up divine images of the Three-Life Buddhas in side halls.

For gods and Buddhas who were consorts, like Vajravarahi, the Buddha statue of the principal deity Juebo Vajra had to be enshrined together in the main hall.

And Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva was Mahakasyapa Buddha’s side attendant. The main hall did not need to place a divine image of Mahakasyapa Buddha, but a side hall needed to set one up.

Although this would split away some Incense Power, it also indicated that the god or Buddha in the main hall had someone behind them, that there was a great god or Buddha protecting them.

However, there were countless temples with the great Buddhist dharma-protector god Skanda Deva and the divine images of the Three-Life Buddhas. These gods and Buddhas had boundless magic power and managed countless affairs every day, so they could not manage so many underlings.

As long as one did not actively provoke them by slaughtering all the believer disciples in an entire city, causing several great gods and Buddhas to collect less Incense Power and thereby sense it, these several would not get involved.

[After seeing you agree, the White Elephant Demon follows the records in the scripture, arranging a series of ritual Buddhist implements such as burning incense and Buddhist flags, and recites the God-Inviting Spell…]

[You raise your head, your gaze passing through the main hall dome, waiting for Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva to descend to the mortal world and manifest divinity…]

[However, after the White Elephant Demon completes the full set of ritual procedures, no black qi descends from the Nine Heavens.]

[The White Elephant Demon scratches its forehead and says in confusion, What’s going on?]

[Junior Brother, I already did as the scripture said and worked hard to make myself harbor evil thoughts and lust. The God-Inviting steps were not wrong either. Why is Wondrous Dharma Freedom Bodhisattva unwilling to descend to the mortal world and give?]

[Could it be that the Bodhisattva is currently doing business with Mahakasyapa Buddha and cannot split Herself away?]

[With a little thought, you understand the reason. Most likely, Seed of Glazed Pure Fire has already exorcised most of the evil thoughts on the White Elephant Demon, and evil thoughts include all kinds of evil desires such as killing, stealing, lust, and false speech, causing the White Elephant Demon’s God-Inviting to fail.]

[Professional matters still need to be handled by professionals, and Evil Child, who possesses endless evil thoughts, is the best candidate to invite the god.]

[You use Evil Child’s Shell and perform the God-Inviting Ritual again. All kinds of evil thoughts surge into your mind. Your whole body is wreathed in black qi and evil spirits, and your pair of pupils becomes increasingly dark.]

[The God-Inviting Ritual has only just begun when you sense something in your heart and look up toward the sky…]

[You see a stream of black qi descend from the clouds, swiftly heading toward Freedom Temple’s main hall!]

[The White Elephant Demon also senses the Bodhisattva descending to the mortal world and manifesting divinity. It mutters quietly, So this woman does not like tall, thick, and burly, but instead favors short, small, and capable. Truly strange…]

[Though it says this, it quietly leaves the main hall and casually closes the main hall doors…]

[The black qi lands on the divine image. The hard and cold stone statue instantly becomes soft and fair. Its originally rigid and compassionate expression also becomes charming and seductive.]

[In the end, the divine image transforms into a living beautiful woman who walks down from the divine altar.]
