Chapter 11: Class Meeting

Chapter 11: Class Meeting

It was already 6:50 PM, with the class meeting scheduled for 7:00. Zhou Yuwen hurried back to his dorm to tidy up, hoping to make a good impression on the counselor.

However, Chang Hao and Li Qiang didn’t take the class meeting seriously. They were more interested in the relationship between Zhou Yuwen and the girl named Su Qing. Su Qing’s behavior clearly showed she knew Zhou Yuwen well and had deep feelings for him. Why was Zhou Yuwen pretending not to know her?

"What do you mean pretending? I really don’t know her," Zhou Yuwen corrected them.

"Come on, you were so fake just now. Anyone could tell you were trying to annoy Su Qing," Chang Hao said directly.

"Really?" Zhou Yuwen was taken aback. "Was it that obvious?"

"Hey, that’s not important. Do you know Yanyan?" Chang Hao didn’t care about Zhou Yuwen’s relationship with Su Qing; he only cared about Zheng Yanyan.

"Yeah, I met her on the train."

"Do you know who she is?"

"Who?" Zhou Yuwen scoffed. As if he didn’t know who Zheng Yanyan was after being reborn.

"She’s my girlfriend, Old Zhou!" Chang Hao said angrily.

"???" Zhou Yuwen was confused. Did his rebirth go wrong?

"Tsk! Hao, that’s too much!" Luckily, Li Qiang exposed Chang Hao’s lie.

Chang Hao blushed and coughed awkwardly. "Future girlfriend is still a girlfriend."

"…"

"Anyway, Old Zhou, you need to respect boundaries. Asking for Yanyan’s contact in front of me was disrespectful!"

"Thank goodness she didn’t give it!" Chang Hao added.

Zhou Yuwen thought, how do you know she’s your future girlfriend?

"Of course she is. I knew the moment I saw her. I’m serious. She’ll be mine eventually," Chang Hao said confidently.

The three of them returned to the dorm. Zhou Yuwen quickly tidied up, having added many girls’ contacts while helping new students. Some girls found Zhou Yuwen quite charming and had already started reaching out to him. Zhou Yuwen, aiming to get them to buy cards, maintained a nonchalant attitude—neither initiating nor rejecting.

Chang Hao lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and exhaled. "This is the first time I’ve felt this way."

"You’ve been chatting with Zheng Yanyan online for so long without feeling this way. Now you meet her, and it’s love at first sight? Isn’t that just lust?" Li Qiang sneered.

"You can’t say that. I already liked her online, but meeting her made me like her even more. Anyway, I’m telling you, Yanyan is mine, understand? Old Zhou, respect boundaries."

"Fine, fine. I’m not interested in her anyway. Are we going or not? We’ll be late for the class meeting."

"So what if we’re late? If you never miss a class in college, your college life is incomplete."

"I bet if you never get cheated on, your life is incomplete."

"Damn it, Old Zhou, that’s too much!"

At seven in the evening in September, the sun had set, but the sky was still dimly lit. It was the quietest time on campus, except for the boys’ dormitory, which was lively due to the start of the new semester.

Groups of students rushed out of the dorms, hurrying towards the teaching building. The path was filled with the fragrance of osmanthus flowers.

Despite his earlier declaration, Chang Hao was now chatting about whether there would be any pretty girls in their class.

Li Qiang scoffed. "You were just obsessed with Zheng Yanyan. Now you’re thinking about other girls?"

"It’s not like that. Admiring beauty is natural. Liking Yanyan doesn’t stop me from looking at other girls, right? Old Zhou?"

"Don’t ask me; I know nothing."

"Hehe, Li Qiang, you’re still too naive."

"Of course I am. I don’t have money like you guys or girls chasing after me," Li Qiang muttered.

"The semester just started. Don’t rush. When we meet pretty girls in class, I’ll introduce you."

The three of them joked and teased each other as they reached the classroom for the meeting.

By now, it was 7:00 PM. The counselor hadn’t arrived yet, but most of the students were there. Zhou Yuwen and his friends were late. When they opened the door, the class fell silent, mistaking them for the counselor.

Seeing it was just students, everyone relaxed and resumed chatting.

While being scrutinized by their classmates, Zhou Yuwen and his friends also scanned the room.

College was different from high school. In college, you were only close to your roommates; other classmates were just names you’d vaguely remember years later. Zhou Yuwen didn’t remember most of his college classmates, only those he had interactions with.

Following behind Chang Hao and Li Qiang, Zhou Yuwen found a seat.

"Yuhang, why didn’t you wait for us for the class meeting?" Li Qiang complained, sitting next to Lu Yuhang.

"I…" Lu Yuhang didn’t know what to say.

"Why should he wait for you? Does he owe you something? Ignore him!" Chang Hao glared at Li Qiang and smiled at Lu Yuhang.

Lu Yuhang stammered that he did wait for them but left at 6:40 when they didn’t return.

"6:40? The meeting starts at 7:00. You left too early," Li Qiang said.

"Alright, enough with your nonsense!" Chang Hao scolded Li Qiang, thinking he was just stirring trouble.

Li Qiang grinned. "Hao, why are you so angry? I was just joking with Yuhang. Hey, look at nine o’clock. How’s that girl?"

The girl at nine o’clock was Liu Yue, a diligent and capable girl from the countryside. She wasn’t particularly pretty, even a bit plain.

Chang Hao frowned and whispered, "What’s wrong with your taste? She’s not pretty."

"Hey, she’s got a good figure, big chest, wide hips. Good for having kids," Li Qiang whispered.

"Get away from me!" Chang Hao was startled. He might have loose talk, but he’d never discuss such things in the classroom. This Li Qiang was too crude.

Li Qiang didn’t expect such a reaction from Chang Hao and mumbled, "What’s the big deal? No one heard us."

"Alright, stop talking. Your taste is too vulgar," Chang Hao criticized.

Li Qiang retorted, "You only like Zheng Yanyan, with legs like lampposts!"

"You don’t understand. That’s beauty. Let me tell you, in our class, the girl next to the one you mentioned is nice," Chang Hao gestured.

"Who?" Li Qiang looked where Chang Hao indicated.

There was a tall girl next to Liu Yue, wearing a cream-colored wrap tank top, exposing her fair shoulders, and white denim shorts. Her flawless long legs were captivating.

Li Qiang swallowed, but coming from a rural background, he couldn’t express his admiration openly like Chang Hao. He struggled to look away. "Nothing special, too skinny. Looks malnourished."
