Chapter 66: Battle of Donghai Port (Two) |
"Boom!"
A torrent of flame instantly devoured everything in its path. The wharf's front line, which had just been a scene of fierce combat, transformed in an instant into a blinding, churning sea of fire!
"This is the power of a Red Dragon!"
Tyrone looked down at the inferno below and roared with laughter, his gaze savage and arrogant.
Meanwhile, on the coast, over a dozen warships sailed in with the wind. Though slightly slower than the Frogmen, they steadily and surely docked at the shore, disembarking their troops in a continuous stream.
Kobolds and Lizardmen clad in fine equipment immediately charged off the ships, advancing onto the shore!
In the blink of an eye, the wharf fell.
Gazing down at the sea of fire below, the Black Dragon Saga didn't bother with any finishing blows. Instead, he swiftly ordered his vassal races to focus on capturing the Dwarves: "Tie up all the Dwarf prisoners! Get them on the ships!"
Before they left, Xia'er had given strict orders: they absolutely had to bring these Dwarf prisoners back.
Even if they didn't sell them, they could make these Dwarves build a better Royal Court for them.
The current Royal Court was still far too crude.
It didn't look like a place fit for the King of a Thousand Islands, the Lord of the Dragonflight. It looked more like the nest of some ordinary drake.
Although,
to be blunt, Xia'er, this Lord of the Dragonflight, was essentially just the leader of the kids.
But even a leader of kids is still a leader!
"Pathetic! Utterly pathetic!"
Tyrone roared with laughter, continuously spewing dragonfire. He even curled his claws slightly, releasing several fire magic spells that directly incinerated the Dwarf soldiers into ash!
For Tyrone, this battle was pure bliss!
Although he didn't know why these Dwarves lacked those annoying crossbows and detestable spells from before, that wasn't a question Tyrone bothered pondering. Right now, Tyrone had only one thought.
Just enjoy the carnage!
If there was anything resembling a question that followed this thought, it was only this one.
That was...
Where did Xia'er and that Sea-Dwelling Dragon go?
Forget it, no need to worry about them.
Presumably, Xia'er had already witnessed the might of King Tyrone and felt that King Tyrone was more than enough to handle these lowly Dwarves, right?
King Tyrone is invincible under the heavens!
...
High above the clouds, Xia'er observed carefully, taking in the entire situation.
"The humans... don't seem to be up to any tricks..."
Xia'er pondered internally.
Although Xia'er had a Slaughter Mission requiring the death of tens of thousands, her Green Dragon bloodline warned her not to charge in recklessly like a brainless Red Dragon.
If they fell into an ambush, that would be disastrous.
Even though Xia'er had the ability to use Blood Frenzy, allowing her to temporarily boost her power, giving her a very high probability of fighting her way out of an encirclement.
And she also had the monstrous recovery ability of Limb Regeneration. Even if her wings were broken, sleeping for eight or ten years would restore them completely.
But if she had a choice, Xia'er certainly didn't want that.
Let alone being killed on the spot.
Most Chromatic Dragons die from their own arrogance.
Therefore, upon discovering that the human mercenary corps had retreated west of Eastern Sea Port, Xia'er was extremely vigilant and deeply worried this was a conspiracy between the humans and Dwarves, deliberately opening a gap to lure them in. So, during the first wave of the assault, aside from the Frogmen, only the Red Dragon Tyrone charged forward without a care.
Saga was smart; he didn't rashly descend, merely ordering his vassals to capture Dwarves.
As for Disos, who appeared ice-cold and extremely ferocious, he actually wasn't thinking much; he was simply imitating Saga.
It's just that Disos, lacking a brain, looked exceptionally cold, ferocious, and not someone to be trifled with.
But after Tyrone's rampage, Xia'er realized it seemed the humans had genuinely just retreated.
They had even helped her out before retreating, shutting down and taking away all those heavy crossbows and arcane energy weapons.
As a result, the Dwarf legion, facing the Red Dragon Tyrone descending from the sky, had no counter-weapons at all in the initial moments and could only be slaughtered by Tyrone.
Tina flapped her wings behind Xia'er, not uttering a word.
She didn't know why Xia'er had brought her either.
She could only say it was too cruel.
Ocean Dragons and Sea-Dwelling Dragons were neutral dragons, not evil dragons.
Tina had a kind heart; she couldn't bear to watch this.
"No trouble is good."
Xia'er let out a sigh of relief, her draconic eyes sweeping over the entire Eastern Sea Port from the sky.
She immediately spotted a small force of Dwarves assembling in the far rear of the port, within the northern city wall.
The Dwarf legion was very scattered. Although they numbered two thousand five hundred strong, plus a thousand auxiliary troops, the attack was sudden. The human army hadn't notified the Dwarf legion about the port being assaulted. The Dwarf forces near the port were basically caught completely unprepared and were attacked and killed by Tyrone, suffering heavy casualties.
Now, the remaining several hundred soldiers were regrouping. Under the command of their Legion Commander, they were preparing to enter the battlefield and attack the Red Dragon Tyrone.
And Xia'er instantly locked onto the figure surrounded by Dwarf soldiers.
The Legion Commander of the Dwarves' Seventeenth Legion!
The Legion Commander was clad in heavy rune-plate armor, his muscles knotted like the gnarled roots of an ancient tree. His warhammer glowed with an ominous magical light. This was a formidable foe with a Challenge Rating also reaching Level 10!
The same level as herself.
However, there was a world of difference between their races, and naturally, their stats were vastly different.
"Finally, a worthy prey!"
Battle intent boiled within Xia'er's heart, her dragon blood roaring through her veins.
An opponent of this level was the perfect whetstone to test her strength and skills, its value far beyond that of ordinary soldiers.
Xia'er was thrilled. Her massive draconic body tensed slightly, the muscles beneath her dark green scales bulging as she prepared to strike.
As for the other Dwarf soldiers...
Tina's Challenge Rating was Level 9, a dragon on the cusp of entering her juvenile stage, more than enough to handle those Dwarves.
The moment this thought arose, Xia'er immediately had a new one.
Then again, maybe not.
After all, Tina had been chased and beaten by a group of fishmen before.
Forget it, just go for it. Tina should be able to hold out long enough for me to kill the Dwarf Legion Commander.
"Tina!"
Xia'er issued an unquestionable command: "I'll handle the lead Dwarf general! The rest of the Dwarves are yours!"
Before the words fully faded, Xia'er abruptly folded her wings. Like a jade-green meteor shot from an invisible giant ballista, she dove with a shriek that tore through the air, making a headlong descent toward the location of the Dwarf Legion Commander!
Her immense shadow instantly enveloped the Dwarf formation struggling to assemble below.
"Huh? Wait..."
A flicker of confusion passed through Tina's eyes; she clearly wasn't prepared. But seeing that resolute jade-green figure plunging down, Tina knew there was no room for hesitation.
"Woo!"
Tina let out a low cry carrying the scent of the sea tide. In the end, she still fiercely beat her broad wing membranes, following Xia'er.
Her pale blue draconic form followed closely behind Xia'er, cleaving through the sky like a destructive tidal wave rising from the deep sea, crashing down mercilessly upon the chaotic Dwarf lines!
The icy water vapor mingled with the grassy, pungent scent emanating from Xia'er, forming a suffocating wind pressure.
On the city wall, the Dwarf Legion Commander Hogg had just raised his warhammer, roaring to boost morale: "For Jandres! For—"
The sky above his head was blotted out by two pairs of enormous dragon wings. A jade-green and pale-blue hurricane of destruction rushed toward his face!
The terrifying draconic aura was like a physical hammer, smashing heavily into the hearts of all the Dwarf soldiers. The sliver of fighting spirit they had just mustered was instantly crushed to dust.
"So it really is those evil dragons from the north!"
Hogg was furious. As a warrior at the very peak of mortal capability, Hogg's strength was not to be underestimated either: "A Green Dragon? You think I fear your poisonous breath?!"
"All units, form up! Prepare to engage the enemy!"
