Chapter 75: Changing the Meat Distribution Rules

Boulder Camp had already been destroyed, so the five hundred meters of territory around Redwood Ridge that originally belonged to them naturally now belonged to Great Xia.

There were three Crystal Fruit Trees in Great Xia's territory. Counting the six from Boulder Camp, that made a total of nine Crystal Fruit Trees.

According to previous estimates, each Crystal Fruit Tree could yield about six thousand jin of Crystal Fruit each harvest, with three harvests per year. Calculated annually, the total harvest would be around one hundred sixty thousand jin.

That sounds like a lot, but the current total camp population was 341.

If each person consumed one jin per day, based on the current population, as long as the nine Crystal Fruit Trees matured normally and were harvested on time without any accidents, they would be more than enough to feed everyone in the camp.

But the problem was, no one could guarantee that no accidents would happen.

The humans were fine. With Great Xia’s current strength and reputation, other camps in Redwood Ridge would not recklessly trespass to harvest unless faced with extreme circumstances.

The main problem was the Frost Beasts.

There were simply too many Frost Beasts in Redwood Ridge, and their activity range was clearly expanding outward continuously.

At first, within the five hundred meter range of Great Xia’s territory, Xia Hong had only found four Frost Beasts. After the last Golden-Eyed Demon Goat was killed, there should have been no Frost Beasts temporarily inside Great Xia’s land.

But in reality, he had just hunted down an adult Snow Mane. That Snow Mane had almost certainly wandered in within the past couple of days.

Crystal Fruit wasn’t only edible by humans; Frost Beasts also ate it.

For these nine Crystal Fruit Trees, as long as they were not directly guarded, any fruit that grew but wasn’t harvested in time could be eaten by Frost Beasts at any moment.

Therefore, until transplantation was possible, the only method was to regularly check on the Crystal Fruit Trees. Once the fruiting dates were confirmed, they could be checked every three to four months afterward.

Xia Hong wanted to make Frost Beast meat the staple food for everyone in the camp, but the problem was it wasn’t feasible yet. They still had to supply only a portion of people as before.

From the recent hunt of that Snow Mane, even with the Jinghan Blade, he couldn’t single-handedly kill low-level Frost Beasts. He still needed others to cooperate.

Moreover, hunting always carried risks. Even if he was there, he couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t get injured alone. Besides, he had only encountered three types of Frost Beasts so far. If he faced unknown ones, he couldn’t guarantee absolute safety.

So, the idea of making Frost Beast meat freely available to the entire camp was still far off for Great Xia.

However, thinking that even Rogge Camp couldn’t do this yet, Xia Hong felt a bit relieved. After all, Great Xia had been under his control for just over three months, and to have developed this far was already very good.

Soon, Xia Hong and the other two finished inspecting all six Crystal Fruit Trees.

They had harvested a few days ago, so there were no fruits on the trees.

But after observing the growth, two of the trees should be close to fruiting.

After marking their locations, the three returned to the camp together.

At night, the camp no longer sealed the cave entrance, so from over a hundred meters away, the campfire light was visible.

Outside the cave, some older people were carrying wooden buckets, collecting the slightly cleaner snow from the ground; younger ones were playing and frolicking nearby.

“It’s been so long since I last saw this scene!”

Hearing Yuan Cheng’s sigh, both Xia Hong and Xia Chuan felt a bit emotional inside.

To let ordinary people in the camp freely come and go as before—

Just achieving this goal had taken them over three months of hard work.

And among those times, there were several moments when they nearly lost their lives.

In fact, if it weren’t for the second-level Smelting Furnace, he probably wouldn’t have dared to open the cave entrance until now.

After all, besides that Wood Puppet Abomination, who knew if there were other Abominations lurking around?

“Brother, should we share the Frost Beast meat with Shi Qing’s group?”

As they approached the cave entrance, Xia Chuan suddenly asked.

Xia Hong turned to look at him and Yuan Cheng but didn’t answer. Instead, he asked directly,

“What do you think?”

The two glanced at each other, and their expressions showed some hesitation.

But soon, Yuan Cheng nodded and said, “We should share it. They’re part of the camp now.”

Xia Chuan also nodded but hesitated for a moment before saying, “I also think we should share, but the rules should be changed. We can’t distribute like the old three-five-two method anymore.

Now that we have iron tools and can stabilize Frost Beast meat acquisition, we need to use it in a planned way instead of just handing it all out blindly.”

Upon hearing this, Xia Hong looked at Xia Chuan with a hint of admiration in his eyes.

“Looks like you have some ideas. Tell me what you think.”

Encouraged by Xia Hong, Xia Chuan’s face showed confidence. After thinking for a moment, he said, “My idea is to centralize all Frost Beast meat reserves, then divide the distributors into four tiers for now.

The first tier is the leader—that’s you, brother. You alone can allocate the Frost Beast meat reserves based on cultivation conditions. After all, you’re still the main person obtaining Frost Beast meat for the camp…”

When he heard the first tier, Xia Hong furrowed his brows slightly but didn’t interrupt. He just quietly listened.

“The second tier is the hunting team. Although we all participated in killing that Snow Mane today, honestly, we didn’t contribute much. According to Rogge Camp’s rules, only those who have broken through to the Digging Realm can officially be considered hunting team members. So for now, there are no members in the second tier.

The third tier is the lumberjack team, meaning members at the Lumberjack Realm. Currently, there are ten people including me. Based on the situation, five jin per person per day is enough for steady progress.

The fourth tier is the lumberjack team’s reserve members, divided into two levels based on basic strength: over one thousand jin get one jin per day; over three thousand jin get two jin per day.

Also, the age limit for the lumberjack reserves should be relaxed. I suggest setting it between fifteen and twenty-five years old. I’ve calculated that currently, there are sixty-nine people in that age range in the camp.

Based on these four tiers, our monthly Frost Beast meat consumption would be around four thousand jin. As long as hunting succeeds three to five times, it can sustain operations. For now, that should be more than enough.

If there is surplus later, it will all be stored. The leader can use it to reward contributors or further relax the age limits for reserves. Everything will depend on the Frost Beast meat reserves.”

After hearing Xia Chuan’s four-tier distribution method, Xia Hong was filled with admiration.

“Is this kid possessed by an Abomination or something?”

He even half-suspected Xia Chuan wasn’t himself.

It wasn’t that Xia Chuan’s idea was extraordinarily brilliant.

He had planned to change the meat distribution rules anyway, and the rough idea was similar to Xia Chuan’s, just not as detailed.

The key point was, it wasn’t strange that he had thought of it since he had knowledge from his past life. But Xia Chuan was only sixteen and had lived in Great Xia Camp all his life—where did he come up with all these intricate ideas?

He even thought about reserving some Frost Beast meat for the leader to reward others and relaxing the reserve age limits?

“How did you come up with this?”

Xia Hong couldn’t help but ask.

Seeing Xia Hong’s shock, Xia Chuan chuckled and glanced at Yuan Cheng beside him.

Yuan Cheng obviously knew the background and smiled as he said, “Leader, this was taught to us by Rogge Camp’s leader Luo Ming the night before last. Xia Chuan asked him how Rogge Camp distributes meat. After Luo Ming explained, we also told him about the three-five-two rule.

Luo Ming said that since you’re strong and capable, Great Xia definitely has great potential in the future. So he and Xia Chuan worked out this rule together.”

Luo Ming taught it.

Xia Hong was stunned, feeling somewhat strange inside.

Why would Luo Ming teach Xia Chuan these things?
