Chapter 276: Clearing Out the Shop

The other two items in the VIP Shop were the 'Concentration Pill' and the 'Constable Token'.

The effect of the former was to increase basic Spirit by 4 points, while the latter was a class change item that allowed a player to change their class to Constable. The Concentration Pill was slightly cheaper than the Shadow-Slayer Blade, priced at 1200 points, while the Constable Token was the exact same price as the Shadow-Slayer Blade, also 1600 points.

"Although the prices are a bit expensive, they're all good things."

The three items appearing in the VIP Shop were all high-quality goods.

The most expensive and scarcest items in the player trading market were nothing more than these kinds of items that directly enhanced players.

High-quality equipment, class change books, consumables that increased basic attribute stats, including items that unlocked special energy bars—these things in the market were either in short supply or severely overpriced.

After all, for players, opportunities to obtain these kinds of things were not numerous.

Unless one could achieve an S-grade rating in every script like Bai Mu, after finishing a script, getting one or two treasure chests and then buying one or two items from the shop would leave them with no spare money on hand.

Not focusing on improving oneself could lead to death. Everyone would keep the good stuff for themselves, like class change books, and use them directly. At least for the C and D grades, which constituted the middle segment of the player base, the vast majority of people didn't have a class.

A class change book could sell for over 2000 points on the market, and a high-quality weapon with attributes was about the same price. The most abundant things on the market were those inexplicable items: either the usage conditions were extremely bizarre, or the effects were very useless. Putting these things up for sale was basically waiting for a fateful buyer. Truly useful things, on the contrary, were extremely scarce and expensive.

Players could take their entire net worth and die in a script at any time, never to return. Therefore, the goods in the Paradise market wouldn't inflate like those online games where one could constantly grind instances for gold coins. The value of points was very solid, even for high-level players. Sometimes one would even fall into a situation where they had points but no good items to buy. After all, the shop wouldn't give you useful things every time. Bai Mu being able to buy these items in the VIP Shop was undoubtedly a huge profit.

He estimated that if he threw this Constable class change book onto the market, someone would buy it even at 2500 points or around 3000 points. He had just looked at it; this was a combat profession that came with scouting abilities.

Of course, exactly when it would sell depended on which high-level player had saved up that many points. At least, after an ordinary C-grade player finished a team script, it was unlikely they'd save up to 3000 points.

If he was anxious to cash out and sell it off, he could lower the price. If he listed it at 2000 points, it would most likely sell within a week. At 1800 points, or selling it directly at the original price of 1600, it would probably be snatched up by someone within a minute.

Bai Mu, who had browsed the market many times in order to buy a storage backpack, already had a very good understanding of the player market. Therefore, he didn't skimp and spent 2800 points to buy both the class change book and the Concentration Pill.

He tossed the Concentration Pill to Xiao Wei. Mages had the highest requirement for the Spirit attribute. As for this class change book, he kept it, preparing to list it on the market.

Let's set the price at 2600 points. This price was slightly on the high side, but the Constable profession was indeed a good one and would definitely sell; he'd just have to wait a while.

Thus, he spent 4400 points, clearing out the VIP Shop.

Afterward, he bought a 'Cotton Palm' Skill Card in the normal shop. This card was priced at 800 points. It was a martial arts boxing technique and also a skill that could be leveled up. However, unlike the Secret Sword Art, it could only be leveled up to level five. Its effect was the ability to strike force into the enemy's body, dealing damage. In other words, when facing an enemy like the broadsword zombie with extremely hard external defense, Cotton Palm could directly strike force into the interior.

With this, he had finished claiming everything from the shops, treasure chests, and Roulette Draws.

He still had quite a few points left, suddenly feeling wealthy. Added with the county magistrate's heavy reward, even after a bout of spending, the balance in his account still unexpectedly had over 8000 points.

However, a portion of this belonged to Xiao Wei. For this script, Bai Mu still transferred a check of 3000 points to her as her salary. In addition, Bai Mu sold the news about the Prince of Huainan's Tomb and earned another 960 points thanks to Money Sense, simultaneously gaining 2400 points of professional experience.

His Media Journalist level rose to level 6, and he allocated the skill point to 'Trend Spotting'. This was a passive scouting skill that allowed him to sense clues related to 'news'.

The subscription fees for the Paid Column hadn't been received yet, as it was still quite a while away from the 30-day charging period. However, after selling the news about the Prince of Huainan's Tomb, he added another 'column'. When tallying after 30 days, he could harvest an extra 230 points.

After sorting through this huge pile of things, Bai Mu stretched and replied to I Love a Sword in the chat box.

The two agreed to meet in the Community. Bai Mu set the location at the Big Dragon Spinning Bar. He was quite familiar with this place, having gone there together with Great Northern Wilderness and the others when they teamed up previously, so he was too lazy to find a new place.

After agreeing on the location, Bai Mu arrived at the Community alone and met with I Love a Sword in a private booth at Big Dragon Spinning Bar.

Upon seeing Bai Mu, I Love a Sword's eyes lit up.

The two didn't say much and got straight to the point.

"I brought the class change book over," Bai Mu took out the 'True Interpretation of Maoshan Daoist Arts'. "What do you plan to trade for it?"

I Love a Sword didn't play any tricks and unexpectedly took out the 'County Magistrate's Heavy Reward'. It seemed that players who participated in the 'Prince of Huainan's Tomb' all received the 'County Magistrate's Heavy Reward' and 'Retainer Token'; this was a team reward.

3000 points was definitely enough to buy this class change book. The main strength of the Daoist profession lay in supernatural scripts, and it had somewhat diverse methods. Actually, in a real bloody battle, it wasn't as formidable as the Constable.

Even buying this class change book at a price of 3000 points was a bit inflated, but I Love a Sword also wanted to make a friend. He was originally a person who valued loyalty and relationships, and it wasn't until he was betrayed by someone in a script that he put up his guard.

But at the critical moment, not only did Bai Mu not flee alone, but he even came back to block the final boss. And to be honest, these 3000 points were also piggybacked off Bai Mu. Essentially, his own abilities weren't enough to earn these 3000 points, so spending it didn't carry much psychological burden.

Bai Mu didn't act hypocritically and gladly accepted it. Afterward, the two looked at each other's items again. Bai Mu got a 'Small Cosmos Sack' from I Love a Sword at a friendship price of 1500 points. This was an item that could expand inventory space, adding a full 30 slots.

He anticipated that he was about to have a bunch of extra alchemical pills and talismans, and he also needed to stockpile more sword and blade equipment as consumables, so the more inventory slots, definitely the better.
