Bai Mu returned from those war-torn ruins to his community room.
Every wound on his body had been completely healed. His Health and Stamina were fully restored the moment he returned.
This was his second shortest cleared Script, taking roughly an hour and a half in total. Only the half-hour "Dave's Backyard" was shorter.
Once again, he received an S-grade rating. Out of the eight Scripts he had cleared, seven were S-grade and one was A-grade, making his track record truly spectacular. He first took inventory of the equipment and items obtained from the Script. Unfortunately, he did not receive any more "Script Admission Tickets." It seemed that brief encounter lasting less than a minute was his final meeting with Leon.
He no longer had a ticket to return to that world, but there was nothing to worry about. He had witnessed the resilience and perseverance of the survivors firsthand, convinced that humanity would survive and endure in that world.
Because he had rescued all the survivors, the rewards were extremely generous.
He received one normal chest, one rare chest, and a rare-grade special item.
[Name: Survivor's Supply Bag]
[Type: Special Item]
[Quality: Rare]
[Effect: Whenever you enter a new Script, the Survivor's Supply Bag will replenish once. Upon opening it, you can randomly obtain useful supplies from within.]
[Note: Food, water, ammunition, medical supplies, a small knife, rope... A survivor's supply bag always stocks a wide variety of things. If you can think of it, you can find it.]
This was likely a special reward granted only for rescuing absolutely everyone.
According to Bai Mu's estimations, saving five to ten people would likely yield only a normal chest. Rescuing ten to fifteen would grant an additional rare chest. Only by saving all sixteen would the Survivor's Supply Bag be awarded.
A normal chest was guaranteed because even if the Player did absolutely nothing, Leon could still safely escort seven people to the Evacuation Point.
In truth, securing a rare chest only required the Player to save about three extra people.
However, rescuing every single survivor was undeniably a tremendously difficult task.
Setting aside the scattered survivors, ensuring Leon's survival alone was a hellish challenge.
Under those circumstances, it truly lived up to the name "Survival in Despair." Even with his numerous methods, Bai Mu had not been entirely sure if Leon could make it to the Evacuation Point until the very end.
Furthermore, forgetting Leon for a moment, saving the other eight survivors was no simple feat either.
Several survivors had hidden rescue time limits. For example, the first survivor Bai Mu found unconscious in the burning building had nearly suffocated to death in the fire.
According to the basic rules of Paradise, the rewards for such a highly difficult task were bound to be excellent.
He carefully studied the effect description of the Survivor's Supply Bag. The detail most worth pondering was the phrase "randomly obtain useful supplies". 'Could it be that this supply bag automatically assesses the Player's current situation and provides corresponding items?'
'For instance, if my Health is critically low, it might produce recovery items. If I'm surrounded by a horde of monsters, it could generate things like bombs and incendiary grenades.' 'If that's truly the case, then it functions as a magical pocket. It might even be useful for solving puzzles.'
After claiming his rewards, he placed the Survivor's Supply Bag on the table. It was an inconspicuous little gray backpack, not particularly spacious but very portable. Since the bag only replenished its uses upon entering a new Script, it was currently empty.
"You don't know what's inside until you open it. Is this what they call quantum mechanics?" Bai Mu quipped, storing the supply bag away in his inventory.
The other item, the Lucky Dagger, was a piece of equipment. When Bai Mu took the dagger out, he froze for a second.
This thing was actually the pocket knife he had given to Leon back then. It was rusted, taking on an iron-brown hue.
Originally, it had been a folding fruit knife used for peeling apples, just a little trinket he had casually picked up while scavenging for supplies in the apartment. He never expected that one day, this unremarkable fruit knife could transform into a rare-grade piece of equipment.
[Name: Lucky Dagger]
[Type: Special Equipment]
[Quality: Rare]
[Attack Power: Extremely Low]
[Special Effect 1 - Fortune's Favor: When holding this equipment, your luck is enhanced. Any of your check-based Skills or probability-based items will gain an additional success rate of at least 1%.]
[Special Effect 2 - Critical Strike: When holding this equipment, you acquire the active Skill "Critical Strike". When activated, your next attack will have a 100% critical hit chance and ignore 30% of the target's defense. Cooldown: 60 seconds.]
[Equip Requirements: None]
[Note: It used to be just an ordinary fruit knife. Like other fruit knives, it dealt with apples, pears, and even cardboard delivery boxes every day. That was until one day, it was made into an amulet and hung around someone's neck. From then on, it felt there was no need for a fruit knife to remain just a fruit knife. Eventually, it worked hard to become a proper amulet, bringing good luck to its master.]
After quite the journey, this fruit knife had returned to Bai Mu's hands.
Bai Mu had even used it to pry open a can of yellow peaches in that house. Back then, it had been brand new with a sharp blade, but now it was rusted. It was as if one could look through that brown rust and see the vast stretch of time it had endured.
"Let's hope you really can bring me good luck," Bai Mu murmured as he gripped the Lucky Dagger, then placed it in his inventory.
The first special effect was rather intangible, but the second one was quite useful. Critical Strike was equivalent to an active damage Skill. He was just about to run a combat-oriented Script with Great Northern Wilderness and his brother, so it would definitely come in handy.
Moreover, this dagger held a considerable amount of sentimental value for him.
