Chapter 64: Mismatched Lovebirds

“Huh, Hongzhuang, what are you doing here?”

“It's Work hours. You should use my title.” Ruan Hongzhuang glared at Jiang Taozhi.

“But I'm not at Work.”

“But it is working hours.”

“But I took the day off,” Jiang Taozhi said, looking bewildered.

Ruan Hongzhuang let out a chuckle and reached out to pinch her cheek again.

But Jiang Taozhi dodged it with a look of disdain.

Sometimes, she even suspected that the only reason she made Jiang Taozhi her assistant was for the convenience of pinching her cheeks. It was a great stress reliever.

Ruan Hongzhuang sat down across from Jiang Taozhi, waved over a Service Worker, and ordered a coffee for herself.

Then she saw a bouquet of flowers on the table—not Roses, but a mix of tulips, sunflowers, and baby's breath.

“Did your date send these?” Ruan Hongzhuang asked, a little surprised.

He hadn't even arrived yet, but the flowers were already here.

It was clear he'd put some thought into it.

Hearing this, Jiang Taozhi giggled and said, “Not only did he order a coffee for me, but he also had the staff give me these flowers they were holding for him.”

“It seems he's quite considerate,” Ruan Hongzhuang said.

“I just don't know what he's like as a person, but anyone Sister Wenxin introduces should be pretty reliable.”

Because of the flowers, Jiang Taozhi was now filled with a bit of anticipation for the Date.

“Did he say what time he would arrive?”

“Sister Wenxin said he'd be here by six-thirty.”

Companies in Binhai usually let out at six, so Ruan Hongzhuang guessed, “Does he work nearby?”

Jiang Taozhi nodded. “Yeah, he's at the same Company as my Cousin.”

“Her old company, or that new Game Company she's at now?”

Jiang Wenxin was a dispatched accountant and not technically an employee of Glorious Animation, which prompted the question.

“The Game Company, I think?” Jiang Taozhi said, sounding a bit unsure.

Hearing this, Ruan Hongzhuang frowned slightly. Although Glorious Animation was Binhai's largest game company, it was rather unremarkable in terms of strength and scale compared to others, not even measuring up to her own company.

But since Jiang Wenxin had made the introduction, she didn't voice her opinion.

Someone of Jiang Wenxin's standing wouldn't set up her own Cousin for a fall, right?

“Do you have a Photo? Do you know what he looks like?” Ruan Hongzhuang asked curiously.

“Nope.”

“Sister Wenxin didn't send you his WeChat?”

“She didn't.”

Ruan Hongzhuang: …

“How can you know nothing about him?” Ruan Hongzhuang said, rather speechless.

“Why do I need to know so much? I'll find out when we meet, won't I?” Jiang Taozhi said matter-of-factly.

For a moment, Ruan Hongzhuang was at a loss for words. She had to admit, the girl had a point.

“What if he's ugly? Am I just supposed to leave? Sister Wenxin introduced us, so I have to give her some face. It doesn't matter what he looks like or if he's a good person.

None of that is important, really. Since I couldn't get out of it, I'm just meeting him to get it over with for Sister Wenxin's sake.

It's not like I actually want to date him…”

“But…” Jiang Taozhi stared intently at Ruan Hongzhuang.

“But what?”

Knowing Jiang Taozhi as she did, she was sure nothing good was about to come out of her mouth, so she met her gaze with a sharp stare.

Jiang Taozhi grew a little flustered under Ruan Hongzhuang's stare.

Ruan Hongzhuang had a pair of Phoenix Eyes, which naturally gave her an air of authority.

Having been doted on at home since childhood, she had developed a dominant personality.

After reaching adulthood, she built an impressive career for herself and became the sole authority at her company.

As the saying goes: Environment Changes Temperament, Nourishment Changes Physique.

Over time, her dignified presence had only grown, making her seem like a lofty queen.

Her sharp gaze was incredibly intimidating; most people couldn't withstand it.

But clearly, Jiang Taozhi wasn't "most people".

For one, she was quite thick-skinned. For another, she had been with Ruan Hongzhuang for so long and had been glared at every other day that she had long since become desensitized.

So, although she was a little flustered, she still said, “Why are you more anxious about this than I am, caring about all these details? Don't tell me you're getting desperate for a man?”

“You're getting out of line,” Ruan Hongzhuang chided.

“Hmph, we're not at Work now.

And let me tell you, I'm older than you. Call me Elder Sister.” Jiang Taozhi crossed her arms, puffed out her chest, and said defiantly.

The two stared at each other like fighting cocks, neither willing to back down.

Just then, the Service Worker brought over the coffee Ruan Hongzhuang had ordered.

Ruan Hongzhuang's gaze finally softened.

“I'll let you off this time.”

Hee hee~” Jiang Taozhi beamed with a triumphant smile.

Ruan Hongzhuang took a sip of her coffee, glanced at her, and said lightly, “I'll settle the score with you at work tomorrow.”

Gak~

Jiang Taozhi's laughter came to an abrupt halt.

“Boss, you can't do this! We promised we'd be best sisters forever!”

“That's right. Right now, we're best sisters, so I'm letting you have your way.

Tomorrow, we'll be superior and subordinate, so I can't let you off.”

“Then I'll quit.”

“Not allowed.” Ruan Hongzhuang put down her coffee, a sweet smile on her face.

“You dirty Capitalist! You should be hung from a lamppost!” Jiang Taozhi fumed.

“Thank you for the compliment.

Is there more? I'm listening,” Ruan Hongzhuang said leisurely.

Seeing that she hadn't managed to anger Ruan Hongzhuang, Jiang Taozhi's attitude did an immediate one-eighty.

“Hongzhuang, let me tell you, there's a cake shop nearby that's super good.”

“Oh, is that so?” Ruan Hongzhuang said nonchalantly, holding back a laugh.

“Yeah, their Tiramisu is delicious,” Jiang Taozhi said, looking greedy.

She then added, “They also have that Cheesecake you love.

Do you want some? I can go buy it for you.”

With that, she eagerly got up.

“Wait, you're here for a Blind Date. If he arrives and you're not here, wouldn't that be rude?”

“It's fine, it's just next door.

I'll be right back, it won't take long.”

Before Ruan Hongzhuang could say anything, she grabbed her Mobile Phone and ran off.

“Watch my bag for me!”

Watching her retreating figure, Ruan Hongzhuang realized she wasn't going to buy Cheesecake for her at all.

She just wanted to eat Tiramisu for herself.

Ruan Hongzhuang's previous comments about her being gluttonous and lazy weren't just talk. The girl was a total foodie; her bag was usually filled with snacks instead of makeup.

She really did eat wherever she went.

Luckily, she was the type who didn't gain weight, or she would have eaten herself into oblivion.

Seeing that she couldn't call her back, Ruan Hongzhuang had no choice but to keep drinking her coffee and wait for her return.

But she waited and waited, and the girl didn't come back.

Ruan Hongzhuang couldn't help but grow anxious, debating whether to call and ask what was going on.

The reason Jiang Taozhi was delayed was that she had arrived at an inconvenient time.

The Tiramisu had just sold out, but a new batch was about to be made.

Unwilling to give up, Jiang Taozhi decided to wait in the shop, which caused the delay.

Since it wasn't far from the Company, after Getting Off Work, Shen Siyuan rode his little Electric Scooter directly to the Sunset Cafe.

He parked the Electric Bike on the side of the road and pulled out his Mobile Phone to take a look.

In the afternoon, Jiang Wenxin had sent him a Photo. It was a picture of a bouquet, and she told him that the owner of the flowers was his Blind Date for the evening.

Although the Sunset Cafe was an outdoor cafe, it was enclosed by a small fence and surrounded by flowers and plants.

Shen Siyuan walked in and immediately noticed the young woman sitting at a table to his right.

He was stunned by her beauty and, at the same time, taken aback by her aura.

Only then did he notice the bouquet on her table.

He couldn't help but feel surprised. 'Jiang Wenxin's Cousin is this beautiful and elegant?'

Thinking this, Shen Siyuan walked toward her.

Ruan Hongzhuang also noticed Shen Siyuan approaching, so she put down her coffee cup and met his gaze.

But then, she suddenly realized his gaze wasn't on her, but rather seemed to be directed behind her.

Confused, she turned her head. Behind her was nothing but an empty table.
