Chapter 440: Skjerona Award

Jose sat at the referee’s seat. Hearthstone tavern had been divided into a zone for the preliminaries.

This preliminaries also included another Hearthstone Tavern Branch.

Jose still underestimated the importance the Hearthstone players attached to Nolan’s open competition.

In the past, when they played Hearthstone, the Dwarves, who would make a ruckus because of a divine draw, were so serious today as if they were attending an important meeting. They held cards in their hands and did not say a word.

“The Frost Axe clan… The Blackrock clan and the Red Copper Clan’s dwarven elders have basically all arrived.”

As the acting manager of the Hearthstone Tavern, Madam Marina also sat at the judging table.

After nearly half a year of operating the Hearthstone Tavern, Madam Marina had thoroughly understood the factions among the Underdark Dwarves in Nolan, including that the dwarves were ‘important figures’in the various clans.

However, today’s preliminaries looked a little unbelievable to Lady Marina. In the past, the meetings between the Grand Elders of the three major Underdark Dwarves would only appear in some of the more important meetings.

And these meetings were not inferior to Nolan’s Sage Council at all, the kind that might change the underground structure of Nolan.

However, in the eyes of some outsiders, it was just a group of dwarves gathering together to carry out some activities of unknown significance.

“Mr. Joshua, it’s time for me to go to the branch of the Central Business Street.”After leaving these words, Mrs. Marina left the judging table and went to the branch near the White Thorn Garden Theater.

Most of the guests in this tavern were dwarves. With the presence of the elders of the three major clans, Joshua was not worried that the young dwarves would cheat. The branch near the White Thorn Garden Theater was the one that needed to be managed the most.

After Lady Marina left, only Joshua, Hiri, and Tyreen were left in the referee’s seat.

Hiri was not a referee, but a contestant. She had successfully won the first qualifying match.

“Speaking of which, Hiri, do you really intend to give up the qualification to advance?”Joshua glanced at Hiri beside him. Not long after she won, she took the initiative to give up on the next match.

“Well… the purple-clothed person said that the magic power in my body has condensed to a very critical level. According to what you said in the next few days, it seems that I will be going into ‘seclusion’. Today, I still sneaked out,”Hili said.

“I can see that.”Joshua glanced at the door of the Hearthstone Tavern. The purple-clothed person in a dark purple robe was already standing at the door of the Hearthstone Tavern.

The purple-robed man held his magic staff and came to the referee’s seat outside the competition zone. Joshua originally thought that the sage was here to bring her family’s apprentice home, but the purple-robed man came before Joshua.

“The SAGE Council has already approved the establishment of the ‘Nobel Prize’that you proposed, but the Sage Council has named this award as the ‘skjerona prize’,”the purple-robed man immediately explained after seeing the puzzled expression on Joshua’s face. “Skjerona was a great spellcaster when Nolan was founded, but because of his age, he passed away a long time ago. Therefore, the SAGE Council intends to use this award to commemorate him.”

“Alright…”Joshua thought that the person who informed him of this news would be the gray-clothed person, but he suddenly remembered that the gray-clothed person seemed to be still participating in the Hearthstone legend competition.

“What about the time of the award presentation? The specific awards that will be set up?”

Regarding the idea of the ‘Nobel Prize’, Joshua had only briefly mentioned it to the yellow-clothed person and the gray-clothed person, but he did not expect that the sage Assembly would really pay so much attention to it.

“The time has not been set yet. The most likely time is the next time the Nolan Central teleportation portal opens. I’m here on behalf of the Sage Council. I hope that the process and images of the award ceremony can be shown on the magical machinery called ‘television’.”

The purple-clothed man told Joshua in a somewhat awkward way, hoping that the award ceremony could be broadcast live on the television station.

“Of course, no problem. I will assist the Sage Council.”

After hearing the purple-clad man’s request, Joshua heaved a small sigh of relief.

As Nolan’s highest ruling class, the sage Council could use countless tough methods to request for Joshua’s cooperation. However, this time, the purple-clad man personally came to Joshua and informed him of the Sage Council’s wishes.

This made the thing that Joshua was most worried about in Nolan gradually disappear.

It seemed that the decision to use the pulpit to gain the favor of the sages was still correct. At least, there were three sages in the Sage Council who would make a favorable decision for Joshua.

“Thank you.”

After the purple-clad man gave a very formal answer, his gaze fell on his apprentice.

“Healy… Today is the so-called ‘sick leave’.”

What surprised Healy was that the purple-robed man had no intention of bringing her back to the Mage Tower.

“Sage merors.”

Just as the purple-robed man was about to leave, Joshua called out to her.

“Is there anything else? Joshua Arnold.”After the purple-robed man became familiar with Joshua during the movie production of ‘Avatar’, he began to call Joshua by his full name.

At first, Joshua felt that it was a little strange, but now he was gradually getting used to the purple-clothed person’s ‘old man’style of communication.

“Your body looks a little… not too good.”During the conversation just now, Joshua noticed the weakness in the purple-clothed person’s words.

She once told Joshua that her lifespan was less than a year, which was short for anyone.

“This is just a symptom of human aging.”The purple-clothed person did not seem to care about these things, even though she looked to be only in her thirties.

“Perhaps you can change the location of the lecture to the second floor here. The World Tree of the elves should be able to alleviate it.”

The World Tree was also a rare treasure for the adventurers of this world. Just the rumor that it could heal even the most serious injury with just a touch of the leaf was enough to make the adventurers excited.

Of course, the rumor was false. Although the world tree contained powerful vitality, the healing effect was not that terrible.

The purple-robed man heard what Joshua Said and turned his gaze to Tyreen.

“I don’t mind. The holy tree doesn’t want a great person like you to die, right?”

Tyreen had lived in the human world for so long that the prejudice of the elves against humans had long disappeared. Even Tyreen’s world tree was the same.

“I will consider it.”The purple-clothed person replied to Joshua after a moment of silence.

Joshua watched the sage leave the Hearthstone Tavern.

“Is it possible for the world tree to extend the lifespan of humans?”Joshua suddenly asked.

“This… I don’t know either.”Tyreen shook her head and said, “But the holy tree told me that the human was very weak. The reason for his weakness doesn’t seem to be… the exhaustion of his lifespan. I think the holy tree should have a way to heal him.”

“I hope so.”Joshua really didn’t want the great special effects master to die regretfully after finishing only one movie. “Also, Tyreen, do you want to hold a concert?”

Joshua glanced at the various messages from the light chaser on the text message, as well as the ‘Nobel Prize award ceremony’that was held at an unknown time, and this idea came to his mind.

    Chapter 440: Skjerona Award
Joshua sat in the referee’s seat. The Hearthstone Taverns had been divided into zones for the preliminaries.

These preliminaries also included another Hearthstone Tavern branch.

Joshua had underestimated the importance Hearthstone players attached to the competition.

The Dwarves, who usually made a ruckus over a lucky draw, were uncharacteristically serious, as if attending an important meeting. They silently held their crystals.

“The Frost Axe clan… the Blackrock clan and the Red Copper Clan’s dwarven elders have all arrived.”

As acting manager of the Hearthstone Tavern, Madam Malina also sat at the judging table.
After nearly half a year of running the tavern, she had thoroughly grasped the factions among Norland’s Dwarves, including the prominent figures in each clan.

However, today’s preliminaries seemed unbelievable to Madam Malina. In the past, meetings between the grand elders of the three major dwarven clans were reserved for the most significant occasions.

These meetings were comparable to Norland’s Sage Council, capable of altering the city’s underground geopolitics.

Yet, to outsiders, it was merely a gathering of dwarves for some obscure activity.

“Mr. Joshua, it’s time for me to go to the Central Business Street branch.” With those words, Madam Malina left the judging table and headed for the branch near the Weissenasche Theater.

Most of the tavern’s patrons were dwarves. With the presence of the three major clan elders, Joshua wasn’t worried about cheating. The branch required his attention more.
After Madam Malina departed, only Joshua, Ciri, and Tylene remained at the referee’s seat.

Ciri, though a contestant, had successfully won her first qualifying match.

“Speaking of which, Ciri, do you truly intend to forfeit your advancement?” Joshua glanced at Ciri. Shortly after her victory, she had volunteered to withdraw from the next match.

“Well… Purple Sage Mellor said the magic power in my body has reached a critical point. I’ll be entering ‘seclusion’ soon, as you call it. I only snuck out today,” Ciri explained.

“I can see that.” Joshua nodded towards the tavern entrance. Mellor, in a dark purple robe, stood at the door.

She approached the referee’s seat outside the competition zone. Joshua initially assumed she was there to retrieve her apprentice, but she addressed him instead.

“The Sage Council has approved the ‘Nobel Prize’ you proposed, but they’ve renamed it the ‘Skjerona Prize’,” Mellor explained, seeing Joshua’s puzzled expression. “Skjerona was a great mage from Norland’s founding, long since passed. The council wishes to honor him with this award.”

“Alright…” Joshua had expected Gray Sage Lursk to deliver the news, but then remembered he was participating in the Hearthstone competition.

“What about the award presentation’s timing? And the specific categories?”

Joshua had only briefly mentioned the ‘Nobel Prize’ idea to Yellow Sage Croshere and Gray Sage Lursk. He hadn’t expected the Sage Council’s swift action.

“The date is undecided. The most likely time is the next opening of the Norland Central teleportation portal. The council hopes the award ceremony can be broadcast on your magic machine ‘television’.”

Purple Sage Mellor requested this somewhat awkwardly.

“Of course, no problem. I’ll assist the Sage Council.”

Joshua breathed a sigh of relief.

As Norland’s ruling body, the Sage Council could have demanded his cooperation. However, Mellor’s personal visit was a gesture of goodwill.

It lessened Joshua’s lingering concerns about Norland’s power structure.

His strategy of fostering mutual benefits with the sages seemed to be working. At least three council members were favorably disposed towards him.

    “Thank you.”

After a formal acknowledgment, Mellor’s gaze fell on her apprentice.

“Ciri… you’re on ‘sick leave’ today.”

To Ciri’s surprise, Mellor didn’t intend to take her back to the Sage Tower.

    “Sage Mellor.”

As Mellor turned to leave, Joshua called out.
“Is there anything else, Joshua Annerlaude?” Mellor, having become familiar with Joshua during the ‘Avatar’ production, used his full name.

Initially, Joshua found it odd, but he had grown accustomed to the sage’s ‘old man’ style.

“You seem… unwell.” During their conversation, Joshua had noticed a weakness in her voice.

She had once told him her lifespan was less than a year.

“It’s merely a symptom of human aging.” Mellor dismissed it, despite her youthful appearance.
“Perhaps you could relocate your lectures to the second floor here. The World Tree might offer some relief.”

The World Tree was a coveted treasure. Even the rumor of its leaves healing grave injuries stirred adventurers.

Though the rumor was exaggerated, the tree did possess potent vitality.

    Mellor glanced at Tylene.

“I don’t mind. The Holy Tree wouldn’t want such a great person to perish, would it?”
Tylene, having lived among humans, had shed the elves’ prejudice. And her World Tree shared her sentiment.

“I’ll consider it.” Mellor replied after a moment of silence.

Joshua watched the sage leave the Hearthstone Tavern.

“Can the World Tree extend human lifespans?” Joshua asked.

“I… don’t know.” Tylene shook her head. “But the Holy Tree said she was very weak. Her weakness doesn’t seem to be… natural lifespan exhaustion. The Holy Tree might have a way to heal her.”

“I hope so.” he didn’t want the talented special effects master to die after only one film. “Also, should we hold a concert?”

Joshua, considering the Light Chaser’s messages and the upcoming ‘Skjerona Prize’ ceremony, had an idea.
