Chapter 400: ‘infiltrate’

Late at night.

Thousand Faces was glad that her skills had not regressed.

When she was still a member of the heresy court, she had held the position of chief judge.

In addition, the Dark Elves were a race that had fully mastered stealth. Now, the Dark Elves could easily sneak into the castle in the middle of the Kingdom of Frost’s imperial capital under the cover of the night.

The Dark Elves landed on the ceiling of the castle. In the main hall below were shier and a few generals of the fortress.

Shier did not want to start a war within the imperial capital, so she used the captured guards as a channel of communication. She hoped to enter the imperial capital and personally mediate the dispute with the king.

Her choice was no different from tying her hands and letting the enemy ravage her. The soldiers who followed Shier also tried their best to dissuade the prince from choosing such a dangerous plan.

However, shier still insisted on going to the Imperial City alone to tell His Majesty about what the trial court had done in the land of Frost.

In the end, the soldiers and generals from the fortress could only helplessly accept Shier’s plan, then, they made an extreme vow in front of Shier that ‘if his highness does not return safely, we will break through the gates of the Imperial City’.

‘it seems that I should add that she is a king who cares about the people?’

While the Dark Elves were hiding in the shadows of the castle, they were communicating with Joshua through text messages.

Joshua was also involved in this plan. From the moment Shier defeated the guards to the moment she gave up resisting for the safety of the people of the Imperial City, she had recorded everything.

‘As you wish, but the crux of the problem now is that you have to ensure the safety of this prince,’Joshua quickly replied.

‘although I haven’t been an assassin for a while, my skills haven’t gotten worse.’

The Dark Elves gave Joshua a reply that said, ‘Don’t underestimate her.’they followed the shadows of the castle and walked into the hall.

The situation in the Imperial City of the Frost Kingdom was as the Dark Elves had expected. The place was filled with the aura of the inquisitors. It could be said that the entire interior of the castle had become the nest of the inquisitors.

When shier arrived at the main hall of the castle under the escort of a group of soldiers.

‘Don’t worry, I’m by your side.’

The Dark Elves sent shier a message.

After receiving this message, shier directly walked into the main hall of the castle.

The Inquisitors did not underestimate this prince who controlled the power of Frost. There were many defensive runes engraved on the ground of the castle.

The Dark Elves even saw the ‘soundproof’runes between the throne and shier.

It seemed that the judges had already known that Shier had a banshee.

Shier stood in front of the king and the ministers of the Kingdom of Frost.

“Shier, you disappoint me.”The king sighed deeply and said.

“Disappoint? Your Majesty! Don’t you know what the judges from the Kingdom of the sacred religion have done to our country?”

Shier glanced at the door of the ministers present. Some of the ministers who were stared at by shier turned their heads guiltily.

“Is this what the Devil Told You, Shier?”When the king said this, the soldiers behind shier tried to make shier kneel.

“Demon? I understand.”

Shier originally had a glimmer of hope that the king had not been replaced, but at this moment, shier understood that verbal communication was meaningless.

She sent an owl with a thumbs up emoji on the text message she was talking to the dark elves. In the next second, a primary crystal slowly fell from the top of the castle.

The castle’s defenses were indeed very good. No matter what shier did, they could control shier at once.

Unfortunately, they had missed an element.

The moment the protocrystal fell, the shrill cries of the Banshees echoed throughout the hall.

The location where the protocrystal fell was completely outside of the soundproof inscription. Both the king and the ministers standing on it enjoyed the care of the Banshees.

The Dark Elf took out her longbow and placed a few arrows that had the effect of destroying magic on the bowstring. She left the bowstring and destroyed the magic array carved on the ground. Then, she threw the longsword that shier used to her.

“Who… Are You…”

A ‘minister’who was covering his ears noticed the appearance of the Dark Elf. Judging from the surprised expression on his face, this ‘minister’should be very confident in his perception.

“A reporter.”The Dark Elf pulled down the hood on his head, a smile on his face that was full of friendliness.

But in the next second, the arrow passed through the magic inscription that this ‘minister’had constructed, and also pierced through his head.

On the other side, Shiel, who had gotten his longsword, broke free from the shackles on his hands. He held the longsword in his hand and walked step by step towards the ‘King’who was sitting on the throne.

The surrounding soldiers recovered from the Banshee’s shrill cry and wanted to rush forward to stop shier.

However, the frost that rose from the ground stopped the soldiers’footsteps.

A cold aura spread from Shier’s body.

“You… What do you want to Do!”

The ‘king’seemed to want to put up some kind of resistance, but the Banshee’s shrill cry made him cover his forehead in extreme pain.

Frost coiled around the king’s body, and a cold aura began to surge into his body, causing him to gradually lose the ability to resist.

“End all of this.”

Shier grabbed the ‘king’s’collar and lifted him up, then used the longsword in his hand to pierce through his chest.

When Shier pulled out the sword, the ‘king’had already fallen to the ground, and the shrill cry from the banshee slowly disappeared.

After doing all this, shier turned around and looked at the chaotic hall. She found that she could no longer find the Dark Elf.

“Are you still there?”Shier asked tentatively.

No one replied to shier, but a new message popped up in the message.

‘The Banshee’s shrill cry had a big impact on me, and just like what I said before, the king fled after revealing his true form.’

Run Away… Shier turned around to look at the ‘King’who was lying on the ground.

This sword strike was not enough to kill him, and the primary crystal that recorded the Banshee’s scream had already been destroyed.

Shier felt several powerful forces in the main hall..

Was this the chief inquisitor mentioned in the ‘Heretic Judge’s diary’?

Shier did not stay in the main hall for long. After completing the great feat of assassinating the king, Shier followed the dark elves’suggestion and chose to run away!

Although shier was unable to defeat the two chief inquisitors, he still had no problem escaping.

With the help of the Dark Elves, Shier successfully escaped from the castle and met up with the dark elves on an unremarkable street outside the castle.

“You look terrible,”shier said.

“It’s okay, I’ll recover soon.”The Dark Elf rubbed her forehead. The Banshee’s shrill scream was extremely destructive to the inquisitors, but now, the sound in her ears had healed the effects of the shrill cry.

The Dark Elf was not listening to Tyreen’s song, but the recording of the fourth princess speaking..

“I never thought that the capital of our country would be completely controlled by the judges.”Shier recalled the encounter in the main hall and shuddered.

Not only was the king disguised as the judges, but even the ministers were also the judges’doubles.

“But that’s it,”the Dark Elf said as he took out the video he had just recorded and examined it.

BRINGING CULTURE TO A DIFFERENT WORLD 400 - ‘Infiltrate’

    Late at night.

Thousand-Faces was relieved that her skills had not diminished.

During her time as a member of the Heresy Tribunal, she held the position of Chief Heresy Inquisitor.

Furthermore, dark elves were a race that had fully mastered stealth. She could now easily infiltrate the castle in the heart of the nation's royal capital under the cover of darkness. Thousand-Faces landed on the castle roof. In the main hall below were Shier and a few fortress generals.

Shier, wanting to avoid a city-wide war, used captured guards as a communication channel. She hoped to enter the royal city and personally mediate the dispute with the king.

This decision was akin to tying her own hands and allowing the enemy to attack freely. Her soldiers tried to dissuade her from such a dangerous plan.

However, Shier insisted on going to the city alone to inform His Majesty about the Heresy Tribunal's actions in Frostfell.

Ultimately, the soldiers and generals reluctantly accepted Shier’s plan, vowing that

‘If her Highness does not return safely, we will breach the royal city gates.’

‘Perhaps I should add that he is a king who cares about his people?’

While Thousand-Faces hid in the castle's shadows, she communicated with Joshua via text messages.

Joshua was also involved in this plan. He had seen everything Thousand-Faces recorded, from Shier's defeat of the guards to her decision to prioritize the city's safety.

‘As you wish, but your priority is ensuring the prince’s safety,’ Joshua replied quickly.

‘Although I haven’t been an assassin for some time, my skills remain sharp.’

Thousand-Faces texted back, ‘Don’t underestimate her.’ She moved through the castle's shadows and entered the hall.

The situation in Morinke was as she expected. The air was thick with the aura of the Heresy Inquisitors. The castle's interior had become their nest.

When Shier arrived at the castle’s main hall, escorted by city soldiers, Thousand-Faces sent her a message: ‘Don’t worry, I’m beside you.’

After receiving this message, Shier walked directly into the main hall.

The Inquisitors did not underestimate the prince who controlled the power of Frost. Defensive runes were etched into the building's floor. Thousand-Faces even noticed ‘soundproof’ runes between the throne and Shier.

It seemed the Heresy Inquisitors were aware of Shier's banshee.

Shier stood before the king and Frostfell’s ministers.

“Shier, you disappoint me,” the king sighed.

“Disappointed? Your Majesty! Are you unaware of the Aetherion Inquisitors’ actions against our country?”

Shier glanced at the ministers. Some averted their gaze guiltily.

“Is this what the Devil told you, Shier?” At the king's words, the soldiers behind Shier attempted to force her to kneel.

    “Demon? I understand.”

Shier, who had held a glimmer of hope that the king was not replaced, now realized that verbal communication was futile.

She sent a thumbs-up emoji to Thousand-Faces. The next second, a protocrystal descended from the ceiling.

The castle’s defenses were formidable, capable of subduing Shier.

However, they had overlooked one element.

The moment the protocrystal fell, the banshees’ shrill cries echoed through the hall.

The protocrystal’s location was outside the soundproof inscription, subjecting both the king and the ministers to the banshees’ effect. Thousand-Faces drew her longbow and knocked arrows designed to disrupt magic. She released the arrows, destroying the magic array on the floor. Then, she tossed Shier’s longsword to her.

    “Who… are you…”

A minister, covering his ears, noticed the dark elf. Judging by his surprised expression, this ‘minister’ was confident in his perception.

“A reporter.” Thousand-Faces lowered her hood, a friendly smile on her face.

In the next instant, an arrow pierced through the ‘minister’s’ magic inscription and his head. On the other side, Shier, now armed with her longsword, broke free from her restraints. She advanced toward the king on the throne.

The soldiers, recovering from the banshees’ cries, rushed to stop Shier.

However, frost rising from the ground halted their advance.

A cold aura emanated from Shier.

“You… what do you intend to do!”

The king attempted resistance, but the banshees’ cries caused him immense pain. Frost coiled around the king, and freezing magic surged into his body, weakening his resistance.

    “Ending this.”

Shier seized the king’s collar, lifted him, and plunged her longsword into his chest.

As Shier withdrew the sword, the king fell to the ground, and the banshees’ cries subsided. Afterward, Shier surveyed the chaotic hall. She could not locate the dark elf.

“Are you still here?” Shier asked tentatively.

No one replied. A new message appeared: ‘The banshees’ cries affected me greatly. As I predicted, the king fled after revealing his true form.’

Fled… Shier turned to the ‘king’ lying on the ground.

The sword strike was not fatal, and the protocrystal recording the banshees’ screams was destroyed.

Shier sensed several powerful presences in the hall.

Were these the chief inquisitors mentioned in the ‘Heresy Inquisitor’s diary’?

Shier did not linger. Following the dark elf’s advice, she fled.

Despite being unable to defeat the chief inquisitors, Shier could escape.

With Thousand-Faces’ assistance, Shier successfully escaped the castle and met her on an inconspicuous street.

    “You look terrible,” Shier said.

“It’s temporary, I’ll recover.” Thousand-Face rubbed her forehead. The banshees’ cries were destructive to inquisitors, but the ringing in her ears was subsiding.

She was not listening to Tylene’s song, but to a recording of the fourth princess speaking.

“I never imagined our capital would be entirely controlled by inquisitors,” Shier said, shuddering at the memory of the main hall. Not only the king, but also the ministers, were disguised inquisitors.

“But it is,” the dark elf said, examining the video she had recorded.
