Chapter 1: Full-Level Comprehension

The Great Yan Dynasty.

Qingzhou.

Xue Mei Manor.

Like snow, the plum blossoms fell petal by petal. Mixed with blood, it made the scene all the more desolate. The shouts of battle shattered the serene beauty that once belonged to the manor.

"Kill!"

"Today, not a single soul shall be spared at Xue Mei Manor!"

"Not even an ant gets to live!"

The cold, ruthless roars cut through the icy wind, sending a bone-deep chill into the heart.

It was in this setting that Ning Qi regained consciousness.

"Did I... cross over?"

You couldn't blame him for thinking so—just a second ago he was on his deathbed, counting down the seconds to his last breath. Now, he was suddenly turned from an adult into a baby, and it looked like he was caught in a vendetta.

That's right.

Ning Qi was absolutely sure—he had become a newborn.

The warmth of being wrapped in swaddling cloth eased the discomfort of his small body. No matter how you looked at it, this was still way better than his last life.

In his past life, he developed ALS at a young age. He spent his final years bedridden and eventually died alone, swallowed by darkness and silence.

"At least I'm alive... even if the situation right now sucks."

Maybe it was a side effect of crossing over, but Ning Qi found it surprisingly easy to understand the meaning in the voices around him.

He heard the murderous cries approaching, shaking the woman who was running while holding him. Even her body was trembling slightly, and Ning Qi himself was starting to panic. If he had a choice, who would want to die again right after getting a second chance?

He forced his eyes open, though there were crusty dried secretions stuck to his eyelids.

From his perspective, he couldn’t see the woman’s face. But even just her fair, delicate chin gave off a gentle warmth that soothed his heart. Ning Qi could feel a strange connection between them—like their blood was resonating.

"Is she... my mother in this life?"

Just as that thought popped into his head—

The young woman darted into a study. She tapped several times on a hidden mechanism in a precise pattern. Then, a secret compartment opened.

She crouched down and gently placed Ning Qi inside.

In the faint light, Ning Qi finally saw her face.

It was soft and refined, her eyes full of tenderness. A new mother’s glow radiated from her, enough to make anyone’s heart tremble.

Her voice was weak and sorrowful as she spoke:

"Qi’er, you must live. I’m going to fight alongside your father. If you’re blessed by the immortals, don’t blame us for leaving you."

He felt the warmth of her lips press against his forehead, a few teardrops falling softly on his cheeks. The sorrow in her eyes felt like something you could reach out and touch.

Then, she turned away without hesitation.

The compartment sealed shut with a click, and darkness once again swallowed Ning Qi.

A wave of sadness surged in his heart.

Though he had just arrived in this world, the resonance of blood couldn’t be faked. This was his birth mother. Even in such a short time, he had felt her love deeply.

But now... she likely wouldn't survive.

From her weak tone, it was clear: she had just given birth and now had to go to war. The situation was dire. No one knew where the enemy came from, but they’d picked this exact moment to strike—like venomous snakes. There was no way they’d let anyone live.

To be born into such danger—Ning Qi was already on edge.

He didn’t want to die like this.

He focused on listening carefully.

The thick walls of the hidden compartment muffled most of the noise, but he could still hear the battle drawing closer—clashing metal and thunderous blasts echoed nonstop.

From what he gathered, two things became clear.

First, the power level of this world was anything but low.

Second, Xue Mei Manor probably wouldn’t last much longer.

His heart sank.

“What do I do? If the enemies massacre everyone, can I really avoid being found?”

Sure, the compartment felt safe for now—but what if they could sense breath or heartbeats?

In a world with such high levels of martial power, Ning Qi wasn’t taking any chances.

He tried to minimize all movement within his swaddle, even suppressing his breathing as much as he could.

Still, anxiety gnawed at him.

Especially now—the battle cries were fading, replaced by hurried footsteps, doors being kicked open, and people begging for mercy.

His sense of unease spiked.

He had a terrifying hunch: he was going to be found.

He knew it.

Xue Mei Manor was finished.

His birth parents were most likely dead too.

But he didn’t have time to grieve.

The overwhelming danger left him no room for other thoughts.

“Search! Comb every inch!”

“Don’t miss a single corner. Not a soul lives!”

“Especially Ning Ye and Jiang Xuemei’s child—find him! Leave no survivors!!”

The cruel, hateful voice made Ning Qi’s heart pound wildly.

He desperately tried to stay quiet—but his newborn body had instincts he couldn’t control.

“What do I do? What do I do?”

Ning Qi’s mind raced for solutions.

He was just a powerless baby, completely unable to move or resist. Running wasn’t even an option.

All he could do was avoid being detected—otherwise, he was dead.

Then—

The world suddenly went silent.

It was as if light and time themselves stopped.

Ning Qi’s mind entered a strange, miraculous state.

It felt like he could do anything—control everything.

But the sensation only lasted a moment. The noise outside returned.

And then—

A beam of spiritual light flashed through his mind.

And Ning Qi instantly understood.

Crossing over, getting a second life—had triggered something incredible.

His thoughts became astonishingly agile.

His comprehension had skyrocketed to terrifying levels!

That spiritual light illuminated all his past lives—revealing that this was his hundredth reincarnation.

The ninety-nine lives before this? All filled with suffering. Even this one had started in hardship.

"A hundred lifetimes of suffering... even the heavens couldn’t bear it anymore, so they gave me a cheat code?"

Ning Qi was stunned.

Then overjoyed.

He didn’t forget the crisis he was in. He immediately began meditating.

As the light faded, he understood—

His current comprehension had reached the absolute limit that his newborn body could handle.

No one could surpass him.

"In other words, at any given level of life force, my comprehension is maxed out—totally unbeatable. And if my strength increases later, my comprehension will rise to match it—always at the maximum threshold!"

"This is full-level comprehension! Maxed out at all times!"

Joy surged in his heart.

Maybe this was his lifeline.

He could feel his mind more active than ever.

Every random thought branched into thousands of ideas—a miracle far beyond human understanding.

"Full-level comprehension is great, but it won’t instantly make me a top-tier fighter. First, I need to get out of danger!"

Before, he had no control over his breathing or heartbeat.

Now it was different.

He could sense his bodily state and its rhythms.

The chaos outside was growing louder.

Ning Qi’s thoughts moved at lightning speed.

“In my past life, I’d heard that some people didn’t breathe through their mouth or nose in the womb. That’s called ‘fetal breathing.’”

“I’ve just been born. My body hasn’t fully adapted to the outside world. I can occasionally enter a fetal breathing state. I just couldn’t detect it before. But now... I can sense it. Even control it.”

“That faint warm flow inside me... could that be innate qi? Incredible. If I circulate it in a specific pattern, condensing it rather than letting it disperse, the warmth will intensify and protect my infant body!”

“……”

Thought after thought raced through his mind.

Soon, Ning Qi caught hold of that mystical state—then merged it with his innate qi.

His chaotic breathing and heartbeat visibly slowed, then vanished altogether!

If he closed his eyes now, others might think he was a dead infant.

Ning Qi’s eyes sparkled with joy.

"I’ll call this breathing method Innate Fetal Breath Technique."

It wasn’t some supreme martial art—just an internal breathing technique, based on a newborn’s unique condition.

But with the boost of innate qi, it became unbelievably powerful.

Ning Qi began fully operating his newly created Innate Fetal Breath Technique.

As that warm current flowed inside him—

Even though his mouth and nose were sealed, he had no trouble breathing.

His pores gently opened and closed, taking in air for him.

Even the growing hunger was now largely suppressed.

It was truly miraculous.

And the constant anxiety that haunted him began to fade.

In his fetal breath state, Ning Qi’s senses sharpened drastically.

He could clearly hear what was happening outside.

The chaotic footsteps came and went.

People entered the study he was hidden in more than once.

He heard blades hacking and violent explosions—something was being forcefully destroyed.

Probably sword qi or blade qi.

It made his heart tremble.

Luckily, Xue Mei Manor was huge, and the study he was in was unremarkable.

Since he hadn’t been detected, the enemies didn’t focus their search here.

Instead, some hiding servants were dragged out and executed on the spot.

Above the roof of Xue Mei Manor—

A burly man in black frowned.

He clutched his shoulder with his left hand, blood seeping from a savage sword wound.

His right hand kept unleashing sword qi, slicing buildings in half.

Formidable and unstoppable.

Every now and then, a survivor would be flushed out—but the process was inefficient.

And he still hadn’t found Ning Ye’s son.

His frustration grew.

More black-clad men converged from all directions, reporting respectfully:

“Lord Feng, we’ve searched everywhere. No sound, no movement. We even sensed every corner carefully, but not a single infant’s heartbeat or cry. Could it be—”

Before he finished—

Lord Feng waved him off.

He snapped coldly:

“Impossible!”

“Jiang Xuemei just gave birth. Both she and her husband are already dead by my hand. There’s no way the baby was sent away in time!”

His eyes flashed with fury.

He lashed out, releasing waves of sword qi in a rage, leaping across the manor with lightning speed.

Still—no trace of the baby.

At last, Lord Feng let out a sinister grin.

“Such a good hiding spot, huh?”

“Burn it! Reduce Xue Mei Manor to ashes!”

This feels similar to [Comprehension Ability: Creating and teaching the Dao in various worlds]...

Example: now a master who is also close friend of MC's parents will come here and will find the clan destroyed and will think he was too late... However he will find mc and take him to his sect... I don't know if it's this plot 😵‍💫
