Chapter 2214: Echoes of the Ocean Legend (part 9): Sudden Development

......

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After a few more exchanges, Shin forced the opposing side into retreat once again, giving himself yet another space for a powerful move.

Shin found himself in a somewhat peculiar situation. Not because of his enemy, but because he found that his fighting style was somewhat stiff, or rather, he felt like he was lacking in freedom, like he usually had.

He might have powerful techniques that he was able to merge and integrate with one another. He was also able to perfectly transition between any of them now, making them look like the same part of the set technique.

Unfortunately, Shin was unable to fully showcase the true might of his fighting style because he could not use the other forms of the Mondi’s Style, which was supposed to complement his style.

Aside from the Meteor Form, the rest were unable to fully showcase their might because Shin lacked the suitable legendary sword for these forms.

He might still be able to change the form of the sheath in his left hand and let his elemental spirits possess it, but the might that they could generate during the process was not as strong as the proper version of the skill.

It was also because of this that Shin was unable to fully utilize the advantage of his style, which benefited from the high complexity of swordsmanship.

His Myriad Transformation Swordsmanship highly relied on his complex style of fighting, where he constantly changed one of his swords along with the elemental possession that complemented them.

The Mondi’s Style Legacy Skill and the Four Symbol Scripture complemented each other, perfecting this style of swordsmanship, especially when the multiple Elemental Spirit Possessions were thrown in the mix.

This was the core of Shin’s swordsmanship the ever-changing forms and styles during the battle, which was further augmented by the killing moves from the Jade Kirin Scripture and two other possessions that highly complement it.

However, this strength that Shin and his style had seemed to have become its shackles as well, which was why he was unable to fully utilize his true power.

Without the other forms that could complement his signature battle style, the might of his combat prowess seemed to have become somewhat limited.

Leviathan, who was fighting him, seemed to have figured this out as well. Even though the pressure coming from Shin had become much stronger and more terrifying, along with his scary swordsmanship, he was still able to figure out most of Shin’s intentions.

With a much smaller variety of attacks, Leviathan was still able to keep up with Shin and his attacks.

Of course, this did not mean that Shin had become weaker. Leviathan was just more familiar with Shin after their organization had repeatedly clashed against him and the rest of the Empyrean Talons.

They naturally had done their research against him and the others, specifically targeting their styles in battle and, more specifically, their signature skills and techniques.

Shin’s current style was still quite troublesome to deal with, but it was at least much easier to handle when compared to the complete version of his combat style.

Shin understood this as well. He had realized that despite having multiple powerful techniques, he was still far from reaching the perfect form that he was chasing.

His techniques might be powerful, but they still lacked a certain substance if they were incomplete. His strengths and weaknesses had come into hand.

This was further proven during his time in the Tower of Inheritance, which was why he had sought a newfound strength. He had created a new card that he could use to cover his weaknesses.

Thus, the Phantom Series was created.

Even though this technique was created due to the guidance of the tower and its administrators, the flaws of his style had started to appear one after another.

"Unless I have integrated everything into a singular technique, covering everything, I will not be able to achieve the most ideal form that I am looking for," he mumbled while recalling the techniques that Uno had.

Uno had created the ’Yin-Yang Cultivation Art’ by combining the original ’Yin-Yang Arts’ that Shin had inherited from Professor Plum and the hints of the unique Martial Arts that came from his father, which was meant to balance the powers of the Sacred Qi that he cultivated and the Demonic Powers coming from his Seed of Hatred.

The combination of the two then created the upgraded version of the ’Yin-Yang Arts’, which Shin had also somewhat mastered when his Martial Arts were not sealed and isolated.

Then, Uno had further polished it up from there, combining this new version of ’Yin-Yang Arts’ with the insights that he had gotten from the cultivation manuals that Professor Henry had left for Shin to study.

Uno had integrated everything into a singular technique that he could truly call his own, producing a unique art the ’Yin-Yang Cultivation Art’.

Compared to Shin’s Myriad Transformation Swordsmanship, Uno’s technique was more complete and closer to the realm of perfection.

"Looks like other than my other ongoing quest, I also have to actively look for clues regarding legendary swords, specifically the ones that will perfectly fit the Mondi’s Style," he mumbled while repelling another attempt from his opponent.

"Then, I will continue to find a way to integrate all my techniques into a singular technique, more specifically towards my ’Myriad Transformation Swordsmanship’," he added while knitting his brow.

The pressure that he could give his enemy might be slightly limited, but that did not mean he had gone weaker.

It’s just because his cards become a bit limited. However, their might was still extremely powerful, rivaling the top-class combat techniques from other god-level experts.

Boom!

Shin had exploded in power, releasing a barrage of attacks that bombarded his surroundings with a series of explosions produced by his Eternal Flame and Primordial Lightning.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Seeing Shin act this way, Leviathan knew that the latter was planning to finish this battle now.

"Come at me with all you have!" he shouted while raising and pulling his hands repeatedly. He was tugging the soul strings attached to all his summoned creatures while channeling all his power into them.

’Demon Marionette Skill (Tier 3): Art of Death Puppetry Puppet Extraction’

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Not long after, Shin was bombarded by a series of explosions, produced by the ice puppets pouncing at him without any regard for their lives.

They detonated themselves right after getting near Shin, exploding one after another.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At the same time, the surrounding air was filled with demonic energies mixed in the cold fog generated by each ice explosion.

Shin, who was at the center of all of these, did his best to protect himself.

He utilized his ’Demonic Telekinesis’ Elemental Skill from Grimrace’s arsenal to form a massive barrier made of mixed psychic and shadow powers.

This barrier warded off most of the impact from the explosion.

On the other hand, he had created another revolving dome of fire around him to counter the icy fog that was rapidly closing in on him.

The gorgeous flames and the icy fog clashed, triggering another series of explosions that produced a mixture of hot steam and cold mist lingering in the air.

When everything calmed down, Shin cleared the surrounding veil with a powerful gust of wind.

Whoosh!

Right after, Shin suddenly found himself standing right at the center of a massive formation that was emitting an extremely eerie and sinister energy.

Raising his head, he immediately saw that Leviathan and his three ice clones were standing in four different directions, which seemed to represent the core of this massive demonic formation.

"Thanks to your arrogance and for using me as a whetstone to further hone your techniques, I can accumulate enough energy to trigger this demonic formation," Leviathan laughed while making a series of seals with his hands.

"As a token of appreciation, I will let you experience the might of a true demonic formation!" he continued to laugh while activating the massive formation.

’The Call of the Hell Realms: Envious Dragon of the Seven Seas the Nether Realm’

BOOM!

An intense trembling of the earth shook the entire region, spreading fissures on the ground and causing the surrounding trees and glaciers to collapse one after another.

Swoosh!

Shin immediately summoned his ’Nephilim’s Wings’ and swiftly flew toward the sky before looking down to see what was happening below.

That was when he saw that the entire region was being affected by the massive demonic formation that Leviathan had secretly drawn.

Moreover, through his True Sight, he was able to see that the flow of Mana in the air was becoming even more chaotic while also being contaminated by the formation at an insane rate.

[My Liege! This filthy demon is trying to utilize the unique feature of the region to forcefully transform it into a demonic region!]

It was at this moment that Shin had heard Solus’ voice inside his head.

"Huh!?" Shin could not help but raise his brows when he heard this, especially when he felt that there was also something wrong with her tone.

Then, Hanzo’s voice immediately followed, seemingly taking the initiative to explain what was happening.

[This region is where a dimensional portal leading to another realm is located. Because of this, the entire region shared a certain feature of that place, especially due to the leaking energy coming from the other realm.]

[This is the main cause of the unique nature of this place, which will also share a certain feature of the Hell Realm that he is trying to connect with.]

Hearing this, Shin seemed to have realized something and said. "Are you telling me that since he is unable to directly contaminate that dimensional portal to establish a connection between this world and the Great Demon King that he served, he is planning to redirect his attention to the entire region and contaminate it instead?"

Hanzo seemed to have nodded his head and continued. [Through it, unsealing the said portal will be extremely risky since it will be at risk of being contaminated during the process.]

[Once successful at contaminating this place, leaving the portal here will also be risky. It will also be at risk of being contaminated over a certain period of time, which will create yet another demonic portal leading to another Hell Realm,] said Solus with an extremely heavy tone.

The corner of Shin’s mouth twitched when he heard this before asking. "And why are you just telling me this now?"

Unfortunately, the two old spirits did not answer, causing Shin to curse them repeatedly in silence.

Instead, they raised another matter.

[However, trying to forcefully demonize this place will cause him an extremely huge price,] Hanzo continued.

[It is most likely that object that he is originally planning to use to contaminate the portal, My Liege!] added Solus.

While Shin was thinking of a way to deal with the situation, he suddenly received a notification from the system.

*Ding*

System: Player Felicia wants to share a quest with you.

System: Would you like to accept? Yes or No?

Shin raised his brows a little when he saw the notification before clicking on yes after a bit of hesitation.

*Ding*

System: You have accepted the ’Empire Quest Echoes of Ocean Legend’!

System: An emergency quest has been triggered due to the current situation!

System: ’Sub-Quest Fangs of the Sea’ has been generated!
