Chapter 2125: Detailed splitting

By the end of the meeting, Ye Zhongming’s proposal had been approved.

Even if those clan leaders were unwilling, the reality of the situation forced them to agree; otherwise, they risked being cast out.

Among these many small clans, several had readily accepted the conditions—the Aofu Clan, for instance.

Since they were not a monolithic bloc, everything else became easier. Ye Zhongming’s proposal would be implemented immediately, but before that, each clan needed to submit detailed information on every warrior.

Again, this was unavoidable. Since they had agreed to unified command and would be operating in small squads, the more their traits complemented each other, the greater their combat effectiveness, the more they would gain, and the safer the members would be. Thus, no one hid any information about their warriors. Within a few hours, everything was submitted for the Star-Eye Clan to reorganize.

At the end, the two Lords also assured everyone that the Star-Eye Clan would form the squads fairly and justly, and that future battle plans would adhere to the same principle. They added that, in Dark Strip City, all clans shared a common fate—the Star-Eye Clan would never do to them what the Eight Heads had done.

With that, everyone felt reassured.

And indeed, it was true. Although the extermination of the Huaitang Clan had not led to further conflict with the Eight Heads due to the start of the Planet Hunting Ground, everyone knew there would be another storm after their return. Without the support of the small clan alliance, the Star-Eye Clan would be hard-pressed to stand alone.

Thus, they would not—could not—harbor any ill intentions toward the small clan alliance here and now.

As for adjusting the defense zones, they also decided to largely vacate the Star-Eye Clan’s position at the Half-Abyss Demon Cave, leaving only a small force to defend it, while concentrating the main force on the Long River Alluvial Plain side.

With the decision made, they notified the Su Clan. The formation-based race had no objections, simply advising them to hold their defense zones well and avoid any unforeseen incidents.

The redeployment began immediately. In practice, about half of the Star-Eye Clan—roughly ten thousand warriors—moved to the Long River Alluvial Plain side. The Half-Abyss Demon Cave remained under Star-Eye Clan defense and would also serve as a logistical base for the other side. Supplies and wounded personnel would be centralized there.

The small clan alliance was naturally pleased with this arrangement. They knew that the Star-Eye Clan had only this many warriors; diverting half to support them would significantly strengthen their defenses. Though they had not witnessed firsthand the prowess of Star-Eye Clan warriors, the fact that they had wiped out the Huaitang Clan through a raid was proof enough that, given the opportunity for a surprise attack, their warriors were formidable.

On the Long River Alluvial Plain side, however, Ye Zhongming did not set up any formations.

Redeploying troops did not take long, but dividing the various races into small squads took considerable time. It was not until the next day that the Star-Eye Clan produced a formal charter and detailed assignment plan.

The small clans looked at the final assignment list, wanting to say something but finding nothing to say.

The Star-Eye Clan’s arrangement was as follows: each squad consisted of thirty members—five defense warriors, six assault warriors, six ranged warriors, six spell warriors, five support warriors, and two logistics warriors.

This composition was for hunting expeditions. During defensive operations on the Overlapping Water Dead Zone, the logistics warriors from the support category and the medical warriors from the support category would be reassigned to the unified logistics department.

The Star-Eye Clan’s warriors fell into the support warrior category.

Ten squads formed a company, ten companies formed a battalion, ten battalions formed a regiment. The entire Dark Strip City alliance, including the Star-Eye Clan, was divided into four regiments.

The two Lords served as overall commanders. Among the four regiments, the First Regiment was commanded by Cheng Liujin; the Second Regiment by Chen Ning, leader of the Abel Clan; the Third Regiment by Leona, leader of the Heifa Clan; and the Fourth Regiment by Duoduo, leader of the Aofu Clan.

Ye Zhongming was appointed commander of the First Battalion of the First Regiment, in charge of three thousand warriors.

This was Ye Zhongming’s own request. Originally, out of deference, everyone had wanted him to command an entire regiment, but he declined, accepting only a battalion command.

No one understood why. By all rights, Ye Zhongming was certainly qualified. Within the Star-Eye Clan alone, he commanded a Bronze Camp of eleven thousand warriors. Taking command of more—up to thirty thousand—would not have been an issue.

Yet he had indeed refused, without giving a reason.

Not only that, but Ye Zhongming also gathered the warriors under his battalion and reassigned their roles and responsibilities in squad-level operations, which puzzled everyone further.

Moreover, Ye Zhongming himself announced that during battle, he would join the First Squad of the First Company.

Regardless of Ye Zhongming’s decisions, the small clan alliance’s affairs were thus settled. Everyone worked to familiarize themselves with one another. The profiles of the thirty squad members were distributed to each individual, to be memorized and internalized thoroughly.

Ye Zhongming also joined the First Squad of the First Company, becoming its thirty-first member.

………………

On the Su Clan side, after hearing reports of the developments, Huo Zhi thought for a moment and then smiled.

The height of one’s perspective determines the breadth of one’s vision.

Within the small clan alliance, almost no one realized what changes this would bring to Dark Strip City. But Huo Zhi grasped it with just a little thought.

This was partly due to the advantages of being an outsider, but it also reflected that his vision was indeed superior to that of the small clan leaders in Dark Strip City.

“That kid is truly restless. But his courage is remarkable—to think he can bridge the gaps between races?”

Huo Zhi shook his head and turned to Jie Su. “Later, ask him if he needs anything. We can lend a hand here.”

Jie Su nodded, but that was not why he had come. He wanted to know whether the method Ye Zhongming had taught could genuinely enhance all formations.

“In theory, yes,” Huo Zhi said seriously. “But ultimately, it depends on talent. Just like the Follower Formation—though valuable, not everyone can learn it.”

“Take your talent, for example—it’s enviable. It took me a full day to barely grasp it, yet you understood it in just a few hours.”

Jie Su looked a little embarrassed and rubbed his face, about to say something, but Huo Zhi waved him off. “That’s a good thing. Honestly, your talent is one of the reasons the Clan Leader and I have made certain decisions. Do not waste it. Do not let us down. Not only do your brothers hope you reach that position—we hope for it too. When that day comes, the Clan Leader will not cling to power.”

“Alright!” Huo Zhi finished speaking and, without waiting for Jie Su’s reply, stood up. “Go inform the Star-Eye Clan and the small clan alliance. There are signs of lifeforms gathering on all three sides of the Overlapping Water Dead Zone. Let’s… go out and meet them first.”
