Chapter 2040: Another Round Of Negotiations |
In a thick forest.
Grey, Reynolds, Alice, and Klaus stood on a large tree branch.
"What are your plans?" Klaus turned to Grey.
"I had an agreement with the clan I acquired the lightning crystal from so I have to head there first." Grey replied.
"What?! You can communicate with them?" Klaus was flabbergasted.
His reaction was not surprising though, as there was no way for them to communicate with these beastpeople. Now hearing Grey saying he had an agreement with them, he found it hard to believe. Even Alice and Reynolds had the same reaction.
"I can’t, but Void can." Grey clarified, before telling them how Void spoke with them and they allowed him to take the lightning crystal.
"So they want you to help them kill some of their enemies?" Reynolds asked. He was the one who Grey handed the lightning crystal to, so if there was such a condition to it, he did not mind helping out as well.
"Basically. Since I was in a hurry to return, I had no other option. Unlike the beastpeople who had the Core, these guys are very fast and it will take me a longer period to evade them." Grey explained.
"Since that’s the case, I’ll tag along." Reynolds stated.
Alice and Klaus also expressed their desire to tag along too.
Grey already expected them to say they would follow him, hence the reason he had been heading in that direction. He only stopped when they were only a few minutes away from the clan.
They soon arrived at the clan.
Void, who was resting in the clan, sensed Grey’s presence and went straight to the gray-haired beastman to inform him of Grey’s arrival.
The gray-haired beastman was elated by the news and quickly called over the three other Peak Sovereigns of the clan.
When they saw Grey bring three more people along, they probed and quickly lost interest after realising they were only Seventh stage Sovereigns. Only someone like Grey who could harm Peak Sovereigns like themselves was worthy of their attention. They did not spare another glance to Alice and the others.
Klaus and the others naturally did not really care about the looks they got, they only looked around curiously. Seeing Void, they called out to him.
Void appeared beside them, before resting on Alice’s arms. Alice was already used to carrying Void in such a manner whenever they were together, so she did not mind.
Grey and the beastpeople quickly came up with a plan, and according to the gray-haired beastman, Grey would hide among their weaker clan members, and once the battle starts, he should try to kill one of the opposition Peak Sovereigns with a sneak attack. The clan they wanted to fight against had four Peak Sovereigns like themselves, so as long as Grey was able to kill one of them, they were confident they would be able to use their superior numbers to kill off the other three.
Grey could not help but raise concerns over the injured beastman. He still recalled how he and Void injured one of the Peak Sovereigns.
The gray-haired beastman assured Grey not to worry about it, and that they had a way to sort it out. Also, after a day’s rest, he was not as weak as he was the previous day.
Grey naturally said nothing else, since the gray-haired beastman was confident, then he could care less about the safety of these beastpeople. All he needed to do was fulfill his part of the deal before leaving this place.
After they came to an agreement with their plans, Grey asked a question the gray-haired beastman never expected.
"What about the treasures, how will we share them?"
The question made the white-clothed beastman show a frosty expression, "What do you mean by treasures?"
Grey chuckled and replied, "There will naturally be treasures in the territory you’re invading. Although I have no interest in sharing them equally with you, I will not be taken advantage of."
The gray-haired beastman frowned, never thinking Grey would be greedy as to want more treasures even after taking away their sacred treasure. After a while, he said, "We can negotiate about this once we succeed."
"I’m no fool, we will come to an agreement before I can take action. What if after I’ve successfully helped you to kill your enemies you decide to burn bridges."
"Do you think we are as vile as you?"
The white-clothed beastman did not have a good impression of Grey, so hearing him ask for more benefits even after getting their sacred treasure, he felt like peeling the skin off his face and watching him scream in pain.
Grey looked at the white-clothed beastman with apathetic eyes, before turning his gaze to the gray-haired beastman, "I want twenty-five percent of whatever you’re getting."
Hearing Grey’s demand, the four Peak Sovereigns sucked in a deep cold breath. It would seem that Grey was even greedier than they thought. Twenty-five percent of whatever they acquire would be by no means small.
After some thoughts, the gray-haired beastman said, "Fifteen percent."
"Twenty percent, I’ll not go any lower." Grey said firmly.
From the enthusiasm of the beastpeople, he could already tell the gains would be massive. Since that was the case, then of course he was not going to leave it all to them.
The beastpeople might not want to share, but they had no choice, after all, it would be impossible to succeed without him.
