      I'm so tired with generic edgy saviors. Ambition and well, working for own desires became forgotten and forbridden. Because how dare Mc not work to rescue the world, his family, get caught in schemes of villains all the time, etc.

        For me this novel not so much the extreme patriotism that irks me but the series of contradictions. The patriotism I can get by since I've heard in china any literature that goes against the regime gets blacklisted. So pinch in some patriotic idealism here and there either for the government or personal reason gets a free pass however, you can't be praising china's unity, efficiency, and public safety in once scene and then have the mc be compleletely antagonistic towards every dealing in subsequent scenes.
