    just finished the novel, the first arc until the opening of the sky is good (yes there is repetition inside)
    later on it get worse with the author using the same plot 99 times like random antagonist 35 want to capture MC's 6th GF for the 3rd time
    most characters are recycled with different name, heck even MC's wives start different but in the end they become all the same character with the same persona

    i started this novel because i wanted to read a good xianxia with alchemy and cultivation in the end i kinda got disapointed, alchemy is secondary MC starts eating hebs later on the novel unstead of refining pills and the whole point of alchemy is to make cultivator absorb the medicinal effect of various herbs or augmenting them but somehow in this novel eat a herb > refine pill

    My expectations were low since its a junk food type novel but holy moly it can only be classed second after emperor's domination in terms of fillers

    I just finished the book and I loved it. It might not execute everything it wanted to perfectly, but I think what really stands out is the comedy aspect ( it's at least 9/10 in comedy). At first, I read the book because I wanted him to pursue alchemy to the peak-which he does- but he decides to focus mostly on martial arts for a good reason( he doesn't want to be kidnapped by strong cultivators and forced into concocting pills for the rest of his life) which I can understand. And he has a code that he tries his best to follow. You know "don't mess with me and I won't mess with you either" ( though at least on two occasions, he violates this and it made him sort of a hypocrite but well) which I also appreciate. The author also kinda fumbles with wives- aside from them fading from relevance like in all Cultivation novels- he marries some women which he probably shouldn't have and then doesn't marry some which he should. And like in all books where the protagonist has a family, the author tries to strike a balance between arcs where the MC should be alone and times where he should be with his family(which again is not perfect, but he tries his best). All in all, it's a fun, entertaining read. I'll give it a 7.5/10.

      Ch1-100: so far it’s been really good. Good translation, good story line, and good characters. The pace is not too slow but not too fast either. There were some unexpected twists in the plot as well. Worth reading satisfied

        Ch100-200: a lot happened. Although it’s not perfect but it’s still interesting. Translation quality is still good. The mc reaches the peak of 2nd tier of cultivation and is about to attempt the unthinkable. (I won’t spoil it for you)

          Ch201-300: the story is really interesting. It’s slightly different from what I have read before. The mc reaches mid third tier cultivation. There is a mystery realm and a world threatening scheme. The mc officially becomes earth tier alchemist and leaves his nation to explore further. Also, we get to know about the first level of black tower and it’s op! satisfied

    3,0 to 3,2k chapters is the end of the first novel i would say. The ending is fine. The conclusion itself was good but i felt a lot of missing potential. The sequel(chapters after) is basically a different story(world) but it is much better so far. The cultivation system is also a bit better and it is same mc.

    I would say it is an average novel but it has a lot of missing potential. The mc is decent but the lack of fine detail and rushed parts is a big negative for me.

    There are no big no's for me but no standouts either. A 3/5 for me.

    When I read it first a few(4-5) years ago i really felt it was a amazing novel but now i read it and I really feel that the so called Emperor Alchemist isn't good at anything at all -----
    HE'S AN ALCHEMIST BUT WONT BECOME OP BY NERF OF NORTHERN REGION NOT HAVING INGREDIENTS,
    he's dense, he's not that smart (as keeps alive barely everytime coz of black tower) , he can't even lay low and cultivate keeps leaving family behind and later has to come back and make an arc ..
    Joins no sect for no reason -_- ....
    Needs resources and backer but won't find... Has barely heaven tier experience still won't stfu and act his age keeps going into small business projects and fights with children who almost killed his family coz this guy is overly idiotic and won't directly use status

    Super cliche, it may be good if you haven't read much novels else it's as cliche it gets. Also it's pretty much repeat of going to mystical realms or some sort of tournament/competition and hardly anything else. At least MC is likeable and side characters (some around the MC) is fun, enemies to MC is mostly annoying super arrogant people though. Also some weird homophobic stuff and such randomly pop up kinda early but disappear later in the novel (I guess you have to live with such things sometimes in Chinese novels...)
