    I kinda feel sad for Thomas. I know he's done some grave mistakes.

    Like not valuing Noah well even after his element discovery, but that may be a plot hole tbh, because we saw later on that there's no single cultivator with dark element, and Thomas isn't stupid to not value such talent. Or like torturing William, but hey, Noah isn't any better anyway.

    It's all that stupid Rhys' damn mistake, and probably he died in the battle's aftermath.

      Respect? What nonsense is this? Thomas had tons of opportunities to keep his grandson in family. He could officially recognize him, shower him with resources, help with trainings, but... He made him a training doll for other children for a year+.
      In general, in almost any novel with cultivation, meritocracy works. It doesn't matter if you are from the main family, or from the side, as long as you have talent, the family will invest in you. But here - some kind of stupidity with the nobles.

        Even if he did all that Noah was bound to leave the balvan family because Rhys had already caused the death of Noah's mother, he knew he would leave them anyways so he didn't give him the resources... it's not that hard to figure out, and the novel even almost directly stated his reasoning

              You're wrong bro. Thomas is aware of everything and it's even mentioned in the novel that Thomas can stop Rhys from killing Lily, but he didn't. He just watched and showed up right after Lily died. What have you been reading?

              He lose the youngest heroic cultivators over a mortal woman not because of Rhys, but because of himself.

              This noble system in this novel is different than other novel just because it is part of the plot in fueling MC growth. In other novel, doesn't matter if your mother is also coming from a noble family, a woman will always be married of to other family as political means, meaning their children will carry other family names and belong to other. Here in this novel, this idiotic Balvan family's 3rd generation strongest heir is a woman. They invest in women instead of a rare elemental genius from birth, whose children will carry Balvan name just because he's a man.

              This stupid Thomas only understand that point during his last breath. And that's not enough to earned him respect, only stupidity that took him this long to understand.
