It’s Ironic that Black Star is boasting about this when he’s standing next to Mansion, who could probably say the same without any exceptions. Like bragging about being in second place while first place is in the same room.

That's really not the same thing. When you play GTA, do you ever think "these people are so realistic"?

In this virtual game, the characters are extremely realistic. They show real (or, if you want to be pedantic, very realistic) emotional, observational, and interpersonal reactions. Other than their ability to give quests and experience, there's not a hint of artificiality to them.

The players in this novel act like sociopaths. An NPC could be cowering, begging for his life, and the players will just laugh "haha, let's chop his head off!" Seriously? They show no emotional burden at all. If this were reality, I don't believe real people, given this setting, would all react that way.

What you said is right but the npc don't have the ability to give quests ,the quests are given by the system or something else when NPCs need the players do something for them

If consequences mattered, the game wouldn't have a "Wanted" system.
