Who's to say the officials won't make use of public opinion and say they are traitors instead of the truth if they do it silently

People would still consider them traitor who abandoned their home sigh

You don't understand their suffering. When they announce their withdrawal publicly, they shatter false hope and make them face reality. You're just a hypocritical idealist.

This kind of thing was inevitable anyway. I don't feel like what these guys are doing is wrong. At least, they have already sacrificed decades of years and tens of comrades to the cause (which is now being taken for granted), while the strongest guy with the strongest weapon was just sitting there, receiving their protection. If you want to express your indignation, Herlous is a much better target, although I don't blame him. Sunils aren't at fault for being born into a doomed race.

Even with Supers' help, they can only barely hold on, while the Catastrophe is getting more and more disastrous. There is no getting better, just barely surviving. The only way Sunils can save their civilization is through waiting for a universal miracle

Seriously? DarkStar? They destroyed their families and whole planet, and now the strongest guy on the planet, who has no need to be afraid of financial troubles (since he's strong) would be bought by them?
How is this more logical than them being fed up with putting all importance on "wellbeing of the race", which forces them to work like slaves?
      I'm afraid you're overthinking.

I think its better this way
If they just left and didnt annouced it, then their race would have just false hope
Now they can at least make some preparations ahaed of time

Although it's bitter but guy has to right to enjoy his life. Not everyone is a Patriot willing to sacrifice their life.

He is in the wrong though for sowing chaos and dropping morale. He should have left quietly and only informed military officials.

The word would eventually get out to the public, but it would not create nearly the amount of panic he is creating now.
