Bun-hit-dog, who was by the side, felt that something was strange. Refugees? Are they actual players? Why would the NPC think that the players resurrecting is strange? Won’t an NPC not be bothered with that?

I had completely overlooked this point

But it just gives me more confidence in believing that Han didn't transmigrate to a game, but an actual universe, and the players are either people from another universe or from a planet in this universe but are protected and restraint by something

They are extremely profit-driven. Didn’t you destroy Green Valley Ville? You need these people to rebuild the place. These refugees are the best laborers you can find. You can use them to your liking.”

He's not exactly delusional for thinking that. It's a pretty normal thought for a father to think this way about his son. It's not every day that people transmigrate and their memories get wiped out, you know? Also, a warlord without self-confidence might as well retire

I mean the NPCs don't really act like NPCs. So it's likely that this not a virtual world.

my personal guess is that this is a game but on the level of project alicization from SAO, where the world is fully fleshed out and filled with "real" people or something close to it but still virtual, there are some paralels like how time in the virtual world can run far faster while no players are on then when they are connected.
