      About that. Hebrew actually is an artificial language that has been created in the early 20th century and is still in development. The Jewish script is indeed ancient, but it had been purely ceremonial for millennia and not spoken by anyone - the meanings for some glyph combinations were known, but not the phonetics/spoken word. Pretty much a "dead language". But as part of the creation of Israel project a need for the Jewish national language was discovered. So bits and pieces of different languages' phonetics were taken and layered upon the Jewish script.
