"In this world, wherever there is light, there are always shadows."

Kaoru Takime is reborn into the brutal world of Naruto, not in Konoha or any of the great nations, but in the Land of Water - a place where violence decides everything. He remembers watching Naruto series in his previous life, but in this one, he’s inherited something far greater than mere memories: the lost Kekkei Genkai of the Takime Clan.

With war and betrayal everywhere, Takime clan has a goal - to create a new village, a place where everyone can live in peace.

But Kirigakure won’t let them build without a fight. If Kaoru wants to protect his clan and new family, he’ll have to cut down anyone who stands in his way.

What to expect:

- 5 new chapters releasing weekly (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri, Sat)! Each 2000+ words.

- Slow Progression.

- Lots of Fights, Drama, and Bloody Scenes.

- MC isn’t heroic but forms deep bonds.

- Romance may develop naturally over time, but there will be no harem.

- The starting universe will already have slight differences from the original. For example, the Senju clan isn’t wiped out in my story. These changes make Azure Awakening a slightly AU version of Naruto.

- There will be politics, intrigues, schemes and also clan building elements

- I’ll respect canon characters and their personalities, but as the story progresses, I’ll introduce original elements and may alter or remove key events. The MC won’t be focused on preserving the original timeline.

- I’ll involve readers through polls, letting you vote on key details.

This is my first novel, so I hope to grow as a writer together with it xD Collapse

The writing itself is solid. The author is clearly literate and experienced, and they consistently explain concepts and scenes without falling into unnecessary wordiness. However, as someone familiar with AI-assisted writing, I do notice its presence here. I can’t tell whether the text was generated and then heavily edited, or simply written with AI support, but the author does a commendable job blending it together. Even so, there are moments where the AI influence becomes noticeably apparent.

As for the content, the story is highly original. The characters—both original and canon—are thoughtfully realized, the plot isn’t afraid to diverge from the original storyline, the dialogue is engaging, and the combat scenes are consistently vivid and enjoyable.

That said, there are issues that may affect some readers. The main character’s portrayal can be uneven. At times, he is framed with excessive narrative importance; at others, he fades into the background while side characters take the lead. While the story generally finds a workable balance, the moments when it doesn’t are difficult to ignore. Additionally, certain lessons the protagonist should have learned do not seem to carry forward, leading to repeated character mistakes that feel redundant rather than developmental.

Another notable concern lies in the dialogue and emotional maturity of the younger cast. Characters as young as eight to eleven often engage in conversations and express viewpoints that feel disproportionately complex and philosophical for their age. Even for child soldiers, the level of maturity portrayed here can feel unrealistic and, at times, unintentionally jarring. This also contributes to a romantic subplot in which the main character, at age eleven, expresses feelings and commitments that come across as rushed and emotionally premature.

Of course, no story is perfect, and these issues may or may not be deal-breakers depending on the reader. If you’re willing to step over these bumps, the novel remains a creative, enjoyable, and distinctive take on the Naruto universe—just not a flawless one.

Like you, I use a lot of AI for editing and I can easily recognize it. This is killing my enjoyment of light novels and fanfics, seriously, I don't even expect AI to be used less anymore. I hope AI improves enough that I won't notice it and can finally go back to enjoying reading.

Friends, I'll take the liberty of recommending a new vampire novel,
    Ichor Cell
    by An Actual Kiwi
. It's written with remarkable quality, and even the secondary characters are better written than most of the main ones.
    If you've read
A Journey of Black and Red
, you'll definitely like this one, as it's much better done!

I've added this novel to the list of suggested novels on this site. If you'd like it to appear here, please give it a plus!

RE : Filthy Gamer In Narutoverse is pretty good, although it doesn't have much chapters yet and the author seems to take a break to focus on their other fic, Reverend Rizzsanity which is possibly the best RI fanfic I've read and I've probably read all of them by now.

Other than that, Escape From Konoha is also really good but best to be too attached to the original cast since.. yea the title is pretty telling.

📜 Naruto: Azure Awakening — Reviewed by Daoist Inkdrunk

The Daoist has read many scriptures under the broad heavens..... from tales of bloodlines cursed by chakra to the self-inserts who proclaim divinity in Konoha’s alleys...and yet Azure Awakening caught his wandering eye. It is not divine revelation, but it is certainly no heresy either.

As far as Naruto fanfictions go, this one stands steady. I would not enshrine it among the Ten Sacred Scrolls of the Fandom, but neither would I cast it into the pits of the “Dropped and Forgotten.” The prose flows like a clear stream.... simple, unremarkable perhaps, yet easy to follow and refreshingly clean. The combat descriptions strike with enough clarity that even a weary reader can trace the motion of every kunai without drowning in metaphor.

What truly stands out is its premise....a bold divergence from the eternal Five Villages. The forming of a new village outside the main powers is a rare seed of originality among these fields of reincarnated prodigies and omnipotent orphans. The main character’s journey, while not revolutionary, is honest. Characters breathe; they have weight, motive, and purpose. The side cast, though not luminous, at least exists in consistent orbit...each voice distinct enough to shape the narrative instead of cluttering it.

The grammar? Impeccable by fanfic standards... no chaos of tenses, no slaughter of commas. A quiet triumph, that.

Still, one cannot ignore the whispering wind of other readers, and the Daoist lends them his ear.

Echoes of this humble wanderers (Overall comments and opinion that other people had who read till the new update):
1st - that the author seems too enamored with the elder sister.... that her shadow looms larger than the supposed protagonist himself. The Daoist chuckled at this observation, for indeed, there are moments where the supposed Azure Hero fades into the background, a supporting actor in his own epic.

2nd - the slow pace, the lost direction.... the promises made but not kept. The world races forward while the main character lingers behind, training unseen, unproven, unchanged. Power scaling stumbles; the rhythm of growth turns uneven. Greatness once hinted at lingers in delay, as if the author pressed the fast-forward button and then forgot to rewind for polish.

The romance? Misplaced, too early, too faintly rendered. The side cast? Somewhat inflated beyond reason, challenging canon titans far too soon. Yet in fairness....this is fanfiction, the playground of imagination. One must forgive a few reckless experiments in the name of creation.

    Final Reflections
To speak plainly: Azure Awakening stands as a worthy, if imperfect, addition to the Naruto pantheon. It carries the ambition of a dreamer, the heart of a craftsman, and the uneven gait of one still learning the dance. Its author has promise .... but would benefit from pruning their own forest before planting new trees.

It is neither god-tier nor garbage; it is the middle path, walked with sincerity. For the weary readers seeking a new lens upon familiar worlds.... this scroll may offer solace.

    Until then…

    – Daoist Inkdrunkwanderer,
currently nursing chakra burnout and disappointment,
but still searching for scrolls worth the hangover.

Ah… so the fellow seeker isn’t chasing gods or calamities, but the orange idiot’s multiverse of reincarnators and trauma connoisseurs.

Very well. The Ten Sacred Scrolls of the Leaf, as compiled by one who has bled on FFN and Webnovel forums since before the Sage of Six Paths learned HTML:

“Better Left Unsaid” by Kenchi618 — Alternate Universe, strong character growth, ongoing.

“Team 8” by S’TarKan — Solid popularity, ongoing status noted.

“The Eye of Reincarnation in the Naruto World” by Void Fantasy Dragon — Completed, good pacing.

“The Scorpion and the Frog [Naruto SI/OC]” by starterzarinthel — In Progress, but well-rated.

“Naruto: The Blind Swordsman” by VeganMaster — In Progress, interesting hook.

“Outsiders Resolve” (author unlisted) — Ongoing, large chapter count, world-building praised.

“Wolf and Cub” by esama — Fan-fic series noted for depth, ongoing.

“Of Harrowed Hearts” by Sable_Scribe — Emotional depth, ongoing/quality noted.

“Fire Shadow’s Son” by Quill of Molliemon — Lineage exploration, in progress.

“The Thousand-Armed Goddess of Mercy” by AlilSilverfish — Ongoing, creative angle.

There are others buried in the Library of Fanfics, of course......some long abandoned, some too cursed to name aloud.

But these ten? They’ve weathered time, cringe, and rewrites, and still stand strong in the storm.
(Some are personal opinions. Some of them are axed, some are still ongoing. But yeah...these are some good stuff.)
