【A new work from the author of 'Nanomancer Reborn'!】

Having spent her childhood confined in chains, Alice was a child who knew neither love nor joy. Scorned by her family while being tortured in the name of the greater good for years, she grew numb to all feeling and thought. That is, until one day, a man in black offered her a chance to escape.

There were once rumours widespread of an endless hell, a land of glorious death and dreadful opportunity. Fools went in search of it, and the clever never ventured into it. Only when its baleful mysteries spilled unto the earth did all hear its name — the Abyss.

A single drop of its blood could give someone the power to control shadows, move faster than sound, or strength greater than the strongest man. Yet, it all came at a cost; the blood would always make sure those who consumed it became part of the Abyss, with one exception — Alice. Cast away by her own blood, it was her destiny to rot in a gilded cage.

But, that fateful day changed everything. Gifted a second chance at life, a chance to turn her life around and claim vengeance against her family, a chance to dive deep into the Abyss and gain the power to govern her own fate, Alice took his hand, unaware of the destiny unfolding before her. Overall, my final opinion

Pros of the novel for me
    1) Interesting world
    2) Excellent system of power
    3) Interesting abilities and skills of the main character
    4) Interesting battles
    5) Overall, I like it when authors pay attention to the appearance and appearance of the main character. Here, Alice, whether in everyday life or in battle, looks very impressive, and I like to watch her. For me, this is a significant plus.

    Cons of the novel
    1) Reckless protagonist, whose actions are dictated by emotions, not logic.
    2) In the plot, starting from chapters 380+, MC starts to meddle in other people's affairs constantly! There is no reason to look for problems out of thin air, but MC for some stupid reason needs to go look for problems.
    3) Chapter 380+, the plot begins about nothing! The plot loses its meaning, and it becomes boring to read, questions constantly arise, why? Why? What are you doing?
    4) Unstable level of power. In one chapter, MC is terribly strong with the same ability and everyone is shitting their pants from fear, in the next chapter there is a person who doesn't care about her skills (and in terms of strength, he will not be someone powerful, the author just needs to find a way to weaken MC), or vice versa there is a person who can cause problems and danger to her on the same level as MC (this is stupid, considering everything that MC has, she should be absolutely unrivaled at her level, no one should have even a chance to compare with her or cause her problems) 5) There is a lack of serious, powerful, intelligent characters at the top of power. Be it Lords of the Abyss, Apostles, Gods, and creatures equal to them, they do not make the proper impression. Simply put, they are impossible to take seriously. How they got their power, I have no idea. As for me, they are clowns.

Below I will leave my more expanded opinion, if anyone is not too lazy to read, they can take a look.

This is just a repeat of the fate of Nanomancer Reborn.
Like Nanomancer Reborn, this novel starts off great, an interesting world of the abyss is shown to us, darkness, chaos, struggle and blood, the whole world is full of dangers, but even there people found how to survive and benefit.
An interesting system of power, I have rarely seen anything like it (you kill a monster, you get a seal of your choice from it, which becomes your ability. You need to learn how to use each ability beyond the established rules, in short, the more creative and crazy you are, the more opportunity you have to unlock the potential of each seal. You collect different seals that will complement your previous seals. In general, depending on the path you decide to take and what the character ultimately wants to get, there will be different combinations of abilities that will eventually turn into something scary and powerful) I have only seen such a system of power in one work, I have not seen it anywhere else. So it was interesting to read it.
The abilities that MS received and what they eventually turned out to be were also a separate work, I liked them, strong, creepy, demonic. MS and her skills looked very pompous, creepy and beautiful at the same time. Reading in my head there was only one thought - YES, this is MS, she is beautiful, creepy, cool.

But that's where all the good things in this book end for me.

The main drawback that killed me is that MS is incredibly reckless, her actions are not controlled by logic, but by emotions. She gets into literally any shit that has nothing to do with her, and for completely stupid reasons, and then a lot of problems appear out of the blue, which are not needed at all by the plot ... Although in the end she gets a profit from this, but the reason for this is the plot armor. Apparently the author did not know how to give different enhancements to MS, so he went down such a stupid path. She is also quite stupid, in some moments mainly related to battles and abilities she is smart, even a genius, but otherwise she is stupid as hell. Although this is explained by the fact that she spent 10 years in prison and therefore 10 years fell out of her life, but this is more just an excuse for stupidity. Because at one moment MC is smart, sees and understands things like an adult who does not lose 10 years of her life, and the next moment she is stupid as hell...

The next point is the characters in the story. They are all the same to some extent. All the characters here have one thing in common, namely, many have characteristics such as carelessness, laziness, eternally cheerful.... I don't know how to describe it, but I would say that even despite the gloomy and chaotic world, where everything is filled with blood, darkness, cruelty, there should not be characters who can be perceived as otaku who only want to sit at home and nothing more....
So many strong and powerful characters, but except for the Intention of the Abyss, not a single one gives the impression of a creature that stands on top of the world... As if they are not powerful characters who made their way through mountains of corpses, but some carefree people who were simply given their position. In general, this may not be an entirely correct description, but I can't describe my feelings about the characters in this story in any other way, in general there is not a single serious, ambitious character who pursues some interesting goal for the sake of his power. They all have some boring goals in my opinion.

I abandoned this book in chapter 477, the main reason was the frankly wretched and meaningless arc on the surface. Everything that happens there is meaningless and very stupid, I would say that it is just filler for the plot to some extent. The chapters became about nothing, and the complete recklessness and stupidity of the MC finished it all off. Her actions just became incredibly stupid and forced, and her character leaves much to be desired....

Like the last chapters are just a forced plot so much that I quit)

In order not to write too much about what happens in chapters 476-477, I will try to make it short.

There was a battle between the MC and one idiot, their battle changed the landscape, after the battle a cartographer was called there to inspect the area and redraw the map taking into account the new landscape. This cartographer constantly doubts and asks questions "did the MC really do this? How could she, with her level, cause such damage? I don't believe it", although this has nothing to do with him. After MC herself comes, he starts doubting again and asking her, although in fact he is just a cartographer whom MC can just send to 4 sides and not pay attention to the ant. And then it is unclear why MC not only began to explain, but even decided to demonstrate her recently created skill, which is also one of her strongest skills, and she justifies this by saying that she will use the opportunity to practice with a new skill..... Everything would be fine, if it were not for the fact that this cartographer is a spy of the main enemies of our MC. He was sent to check who killed their strong man (this one made MC a chapter earlier).

Now the enemies have information about the new skill created by MS, and MS has also now revealed her power and allowed her enemies to confirm it..... By the way, this is her family that she is running from, because if they find out about her, they will hunt her...

Like, this is an incredibly stupid and forced plot, and stupid actions of MS. From this moment, my desire to read the book completely burned out and killed me.

In general, as I said, a repeat of Nanomancer Reborn, the beginning is excellent, the middle is also not bad (200-300 chapters), everything is okay. Then nonsense begins, MS also begins to make nonsense. But here to each his own, to each his own opinion.

Objectively, if I had to say something about Abyssal Awakening, it's that Reili is trying to recapture the genie in a bottle that was Nanomancer, however they are failing on every account and making a very inferior copy. The one thing that makes it all the more pronounced is how much of a downgrade Alice is compared to Shiro and how much of a downgrade all side characters are compared to the ones in Nanomancer.

Ah… Abyssal Awakening—yet another treacherous scroll plucked from the Library of Questionable Decisions and filled with peril, power, and protagonists who test the patience of even the most enlightened elder. And lo, what a surprisingly delightful descent it is.

The cultivation system (or shall I say, abyssal system?) is well-forged—layered, mysterious, and deliciously incomplete. Much like a half-translated ancient technique manual, the world teases great depths beneath its surface. The secrets of the Abyss remain tightly sealed, and even the citizens walk as if in fog. A little more history would’ve been welcome—perhaps in the form of a drunken old storyteller by a noodle stall—but I hold hope that the past will reveal itself in due time.

As for the MC—ah, this stubborn junior! A young heroine with power, growth, and the uncanny ability to ignore every scrap of sage advice. Her mentor says, 'Avoid this path, for it leads to ruin.' She says, 'Say no more, Master!' and promptly sprints down that very path, tripping over plot and nearly dying—but gaining power, of course. It is the sacred cycle of modern cultivation.

Her logic is like chaotic qi—well-intentioned but unruly. She says she’ll hide her unique ability to avoid being targeted... then unleashes it in her very first school duel. One can only sigh, stroke one’s beard, and whisper, 'youths.'

Still, what this story cultivates best is character. The core cast—small but well-tempered—holds firm through the fog. Each background has weight, and every interaction rings with emotional resonance (or at least mild sarcasm).

The author, much like a crafty alchemist, tempers overpowered traits with very human flaws. And that, I say, is a rare and balanced pill to swallow.

Verdict: A spirited, character-driven tale with fine pacing, clear power systems, and a delightfully reckless MC. The Abyss may be deep, but it is not dull. I recommend this scroll to fellow Daoists who appreciate flawed heroines, risky awakenings, and a touch of chaos in their cultivation.

Note from this humble cultivator: I read this tale long ago in the shadowy corners of another site. Hence, I leave my jade slip of thoughts early here—not for attention, but for guidance. Believe me or not, I simply strive to be genuine in what I share. No lies. No ghostwritten praises.

You write better than 99% of the novels I've read. but considering that you only comment on shitty works, I wouldn't want to get involved in writing and lure weak minds into my insidious networks)

Haha that's kind of you to say—thank you. And it’s all right, really—everyone reads and resonates differently. I’ve only just started posting reviews from this batch, so you’ll probably see me popping up under all sorts of novels as I go along. I plan to comment and review on whatever I stumble across—shiny, shabby, or somewhere in between. Preferences are personal, after all :)
