From one day to the other, Joffrey Baratheon wakes up a changed man.

Far from the spoiled boy-child known to the court of King’s Landing, the Joffrey that comes out of his room three days after the death of John Arryn walks with the stride of a veteran commander and leader of men.

A scholar, a sea-captain, a general, a lover.

This is the story of how he became that man, and how he came to know his purpose through a cycle of endless death and rebirth that saw him explore both his self and the known world from Braavos to Sothoryios and from Old Town to Yi-Ti… and beyond. Collapse

Good 20 first chapter. But after knowing the Yi Ti arc get stretched, I already dropping this novel. Because to me after that it is not ASOIF anymore.

Like someone else said, best and worst fic of all time troll78

The characters are all true to their originals, well written for a fanfic,
The first 20 or so chapters were absolute best. And then it starts the descent.
At that point, to me, it looked like author ran out of ideas regarding the main plot, so we have a lot of filler-ish kind of chapters, fillers they may be but author did write them well so there's that. There was also the time when author forced MC to forget (or maybe he just forgot about it himself,
) a major plot point. The pseudo-fillers eventually starts to get boring, unless you are really interested in a modified ASOIAF lore.
Ultimately to end the novel, to enter the final phase, author makes MC commit the dumbest thing to move the plot forward. I just couldn't continue reading past that, because it was so fking stupid and uncharacteristic (Danteye has mentioned it in spoilers below, adding to that,
). Author could've written that part in anyway else and it would've seemed better imo. I skipped most of the rest to the end; ending was meh, mainly because of that "mistake" MC made. All in all the novel went from 10/10 to 1/10 for me whoknows

A surprisingly good story. The writing quality actually gets pretty good as the story goes on and the author hones their craft, at least compared to the usual copy-paste Korean or Chinese stories on this site or the English-written webnovels with MC's so edgy they are well on their way to putting the infamous "My Immortal" to shame. Anyways, I digress. This is a tale with a lot of character development, action, and romance. It's interesting to see Joffery, who is one of the most hated characters in ASOIAF, become something resembling a good man, and eventually even much more. It's also worth noting that the 84-chapter count is kind of deceptive considering a lot of these chapters are long, and I mean REALLY long.

There are some hang-ups, a minor one being the prologue, which I was waiting for the story to catch up to, but it never really did, or at least when it did, it kind of just skipped over it, so I can only assume it takes place during one of his later lives during the last half of the novel since he seems aware of the White Walkers, but not too late since
Another complaint some may have, particularly purists of the source material/lore, is the whole background of the Whitewalkers and the like, or perhaps even just the general lore of places in Essos, but I thought it was fine since a lot of that stuff is left intentionally vague by G.R.R.M. or he just hasn't gotten to yet in his books, and if the author wanted to write a truly world-spanning conflict and journey like they did here, they kind of had to come up with stuff on their own. Finally, the last complaint some may have is about the last chapters in the last bit of the novel. I thought the ending itself, the epilogue, was great, but some of the parts about how we got there left me scratching my head a bit, particularly how Joffery made a hugely out-of-character, IMO, mistake, at least for the Joffery this far in the future when he had tons of knowledge and a veritable wealth of experience of all kinds. This mistake is so monumental that it leads to
In retrospect, out of the book world, I can understand why it happened. The author was very public about burnout and stuff going on in their life, and it seemed as if they were rushing the story and trying to end it, but it still left the taste a bit sour. Nonetheless, I think the ending by itself is great, and it's worth reading this if you're a big fan of the ASOIAF series, or even if you're not and just like reading.

    >Far from the spoiled boy-child known to the court of King’s Landing,

I see the author is no stranger to the Fiendish MTL Arts. Hopefully his cultivation didn't deviate. Many have walked this path only to become neither beast nor human.

I watched the series (I never saw the books, they were very boring). But I don't remember anything, this fanfic was good at first but it deteriorated quickly, but it's good

I mean I get that the series is called a song of ice and fire, but it would have been much easier if you just said it was a GoT fanfic as I think most people would recognise this

If I remember correctly, this was a great fanfic.

Joffrey is inherently a shitty kid. The regression allows for actual character development over time. It does take a few tries before he starts to realize he was acting like a shitty kid.

The world of GoT is expanded upon, some of the more mystical elements slowly reveal themselves, and by the end of it I actually like Joffrey as a character

It’s a shame that the ending felt a bit rushed… Honestly I’d say his time in Yi Ti is the peak.
