Could you survive a horror movie?

That's the question Riley must answer after he and his friends get lured to Carousel, a malevolent town where horror movies come to life.

Riley thinks he is in big trouble when he is assigned the Film Buff archetype, a minor support class that has a penchant for dying early in movies. At first resigned to his fate to die over and over, he believes he has found a way to survive. Upon obtaining the Oblivious Bystander trope, monsters and killers will not harm him as long as he can convincingly pretend he has not noticed them. At first, this ability appears to be a joke, but Riley thinks that with some clever exploitation, it might just be his greatest strength.

What to expect:

-Strategic gameplay and clever uses of movie tropes to survive

-Perilous storylines right from your favorite horror movies

-Creative Twists of Classic Horror Movie tropes

-Moderate stats-based combat and strategy

Hey, as someone who has read at least eighty chapters of this, I can say it's really good! The author isn't afraid to hurt the main character or allow the mc to be smart. The side-characters can be annoying at times, but they usually have their own reasons!

The only problem with this is the occasional wall of text that shows stats and such. The OG book had them in a diagram and hence didn't use up as much space.

If you want to read a version without the whole wall of text, you can go to OceanofPDF and search for The Game at Carousel. If you download it, you'll get the real book version. However, it only has up to volume 3

    Spoilers:
It was pretty good at first but then it started to get silly. The MC actually wanted to give away his resources even though he's stuck in a life and death movie type situations at the carousel. And the reason is because he's anxious about his fake friends not liking him due to keeping a secret. However, this secret is literally linked to his life and will result in death if mentioned, but he still felt the need to overcompensate by using up his life saving resources. So stupid... And whats more is these guys didn't even bat an eye, and even still complained about the secret when everyone already knows that its a life and death secret that can't be mentioned. Yes, everyone already know its a deadly secret that can't be mentioned lmao. So you can understand how I had to drop this because of such an MC. His personality of needing to be accepted at the expense of survival resources for a silly reason just ruined it. Before, he was pretty good, smart, knowledgeable, had a backbone etc likable traits as an MC. But then somehow turned beta???

There were other issues like Dina forcing them into a high level event without informing them of anything, but they still accepted her into the team lol. Or the problem of things being obvious in the movie, MC already knows it and even monologues it, but guess what... it still happens despite having the chances to act ahead. It gets unreasonable and unrealistic in life and death matters being ignored with many vital interactions. I can only chalk it up to bad writing..

I don't know if this MC changes later. If he does then I do hope its truly an acceptable resolution with solid reasoning's as to why he turned so silly. Would appreciate if recent readers can fill me in too. But anyways.. my review/rating for it is 6.5/10. There really are better 'trapped to play events' type novels out there.

Bro, the novel is very good, certainly the best when we talk about horror, the only thing that surprised me was that most of the mysteries were clarified at the end of the first book (I wasn't expecting it), well, at least the mysteries we know can appear more as it continues the story.

I was upset by the fact that the chapters were disorganized, imagine my surprise when I heard that there were not 299 chapters released as it was written hahaahah, book 1 and 2 is repeated.

The mystery, the struggles, and the roles people play as they try to survive the Horrors.
    I love it.

My greatest pain is that this is too condensed and fast paced, losing out on a lot of depth as well as needed and wanted character development and bonding. It is incredibly tense and interesting as we follow through the scenarios they are put in and I want more of it, but at a more gradual pace that let's us experience Carousel and what it has to offer without feeling rushed or pushed towards the greater mysteries involved..... I said a lot when I should have just said I want more of the lesser plot related Scenarios interspersed between key nodes in the Novel, whether it's for entertainment or developing the world and characters in it.
