The boundless universe was filled with all sorts of wonders.

I, Chen *Ping An, only have one sword, to move mountains, turn the seas upside down, suppress demons, deal with gods, pluck stars, break rivers, destroy cities, and open the heavenly abode!

My name is Chen Ping An, Ping An* of Peace, and I am a swordsman.

The Midland world was full of wonders.

In the center of the world, there was a scholar who had once used a sword to slash out a waterfall of the Milky Way. This was the person he was the most proud of.

At the edge of the East Sea’s cliffs, there was a nameless Daoist who was unwilling to ascend to the peak of a mountain. He only wished for a cool breeze to brush against his face.

In the Western Pure Land, there was an old monk who liked to treat people to chicken soup and tell stories.

In the southern border of the Wilderness, there was a blind painter who controlled golden-armored puppets that were as tall as mountains to move the hundred thousand mountains, creating an embroidered picture.

An impoverished youth who grew up in the north. One day, he saw tens of thousands of Sword Kinesis Immortals above him, like a swarm of locusts crossing the border.

He wanted to see for himself the scholar that the storyteller had mentioned, the surging tides of the East Sea, the vast swamps of sand in the west, and the majestic mountains of the Southern Wasteland.

Thus, one day, the youth picked up the wooden sword and began to descend south.

* Ping An means peace

Daoist Inkdrunk’s Drunken Scripture on Unsheathed / Sword of Coming
(A review soaked in old wine, river mist, and literary sarcasm)

    Listen well, wandering cultivator.
Unsheathed is not a novel....it is a vat of aged immortal wine someone buried under a mountain, forgot, rediscovered, and promptly served to mortals who have only ever drunk tap water. yeah

This book does not “start slow.”
    No.
It marinates you. It braises your mortal impatience. It boils the sludge of trope-choked xianxia out of your system until your soul is clean enough to taste actual storytelling.

If your heart demands explosions every three chapters and “young master dies” every five, then flee.
This book will treat you the way Confucius treats fools: with polite contempt.

Chen Ping’an.... ah, this boy. Half saint, half bumpkin, all contradiction. A clay jar carrying a storm.
At first glance he seems like the usual soft-spoken pushover.
But that is merely the author sharpening the knife while smiling like a grandmother offering you cookies.
The boy grows.... painfully, beautifully...each step carved into his soul by karma, kindness, and the cruelty of a world that does not stop spinning for orphans.

    The romance?
    Like buried jade.
Subtle. Quiet. A heartbeat in winter.
You will not notice it until suddenly you do, and then it will break you with how restrained and sincere it is. crimson

    The worldbuilding?
    Not worldbuilding.
    World-weaving.
A loom of philosophy, folklore, karma, politics, and the kind of morality that makes lesser readers cry “boring!” because they came expecting power leveling spreadsheets.

Here, characters are not NPC furniture.
They’re entire lives....messy, contradictory, tragic, hilarious....wandering on their own paths.
You will see elders who aren’t idiots, villains who aren’t cardboard, and gods who aren’t vending machines.
You will see entire chapters detour to side characters you will never meet again…
and somehow it still feels like watching the ripples of a larger river touching your boat. old

    Some complain this is “slow.”
    Yes.
    So is growing up.
    So is enlightenment.
So is the fermentation of a wine worth drinking.

And when the blade does unsheathe ...when a fight finally erupts after 50 chapters of buildup....it lands like thunder that has been waiting through three winters.

Chen Ping’an’s journey is not the tale of a genius ascending heaven in three days.
It is a record of a flawed, naive, stubborn mortal boy walking a road paved by the blood and dreams of cultivators who lived ten lifetimes before him.

There is philosophy, poetry, quiet sorrow, stupid luck, monstrous powerhouses, and more “show, not tell” than the average reader can handle without a cup of tea and a therapist.

If you want something cheap, fast, and hollow... this will drown you.
If you want something alive, slow-burning, romantic in the sense ancient poets used the word, and as nuanced as a Confucian scholar arguing with a drunk Daoist under a peach tree...then welcome.

    Unsheathed is not perfect.
    It is simply real.
And that is rarer than immortals. gosling3 acinema

Your reviews can be collected to form a collection of poems itself. But the review is very apt. This novel is refreshing. Long gone are the days of "Courting death". This novel feels like a proper piece of literature so far.

I'm seeing a lot of reviews about side characters, side characters and more sde characters. Is the MC powerful or useful in the novel at all?

I don't want to read a slow burn novel only for MC to be stuck at foundation establishment for 500+ chapters.

Hmm now how do I feel about this one.... Honestly I can't say it's a gem cuz a gem has a certain value that is recognised by every Individual, instead I'd say that this novel is more like an ancient heirloom that may be as worthless as a roadside pebble to some, while incredibly important to others. Aside from the rambling, there's no correct way to review this novel. If you like it then you like it, if you don't then you don't.
