    Chapter 318

A month after work officially began on the Pet Home Project, the overall plan was completely finalized.

The efficiency of both sides was astonishing.

Everyone genuinely wanted to make the project succeed.

The Management Bureau truly was an outstanding partner.

Su Hao opened the thick proposal—nearly two centimeters in thickness—and carefully read it from beginning to end.

By the time he finished half a day later, he already had a thorough understanding of the entire project.

Overall, there were only a few minor differences from what he had originally envisioned, but none of them would affect the final outcome.

The entire project was divided into three phases.

The first phase would last two years and focused on technological integration.

Its purpose was to coordinate every required technology so the project could function as intended.

For example, the Spirit Ball needed to replace a summoner's mental power and act as the medium for summoning Spirit Beasts.

That wasn't something Su Hao could accomplish alone.

Nor could the Management Bureau complete it independently.

Both sides had to work together.

Another important concept introduced by Su Hao was Cloud Summoning.

He proposed constructing an enormous planetary supercomputing center.

Every Spirit Ball would be connected to this system, allowing the computers to perform the spatial calculations required for summoning.

The third major technical objective during this phase was integrating Su Hao's short-range teleportation technology with the Perception Rune, allowing spatial movement to be accurately coordinated and stable spatial channels to be opened.

Although the entire process was extremely complicated...

    ...it was entirely feasible.

When Su Hao first proposed the concept of Cloud Summoning, countless engineers inside the Management Bureau were dumbfounded.

"It can actually be done like this?"

"Why didn't we think of it?"

    Of course...

Even if they had arrived at the same concept...

Without Su Hao's rune technology as the foundation, the idea would never have become reality.

    As for the Evolution Program...

Su Hao selected a number of naturally adorable Secondary Star Beasts.

Using the Transformation Chamber, he modified them into a completely new species called Spirit Beasts.

To distinguish them from ordinary Secondary Star Beasts...

He used genetic engineering to add a tuft of bright crimson fur to each Spirit Beast's forehead.

This tuft contained highly compressed genetic information.

By obtaining the corresponding tuft of fur from another Spirit Beast...

...a Spirit Beast could evolve into its next form.

    Thus...

The objective of Trainers became defeating wild Spirit Beasts...

    Collecting their Spirit Hair...

And using it to evolve their own partners.

    Perfect.

Su Hao silently gave himself a thumbs-up.

    "I'm truly a genius."

    Naturally...

None of these technologies could be perfected overnight.

According to the Management Bureau's professional assessment...

    Even under ideal conditions...

The first phase alone would require at least two years.

The second phase was infrastructure construction.

This phase would also take two years.

Simply building the planetary supercomputing center required enormous manpower and financial investment.

    In addition...

Signal relay stations needed to be established across the Main Star...

As well as throughout the Secondary Stars.

    The workload was staggering.

The third phase was the testing and promotional stage.

    It would last one year.

    Altogether...

The entire project required a minimum of five years.

It officially became known as the Pet Home Five-Year Plan.

    In short...

It was a massive money-burning project.

For at least the next decade...

There would be investment after investment...

    With virtually no financial return.

    However...

    Once completed...

Its value could no longer be measured with money.

The Management Bureau would essentially gain influence over two entire planets.

    The benefits were self-evident.

    In the future...

Employees would no longer proudly introduce themselves by saying,

    "I'm from the Management Bureau."

    Instead...

    They would say,

"I'm an employee of Planetary Chain Corporation."

The difference wasn't merely one of name.

It represented an entirely different level of influence.

    One could say...

The Management Bureau had completely transcended its former status.

    ---

    From then onward...

Su Hao and Yashan no longer returned to the Huaiyuan Base in Northern Plains Province.

    Instead...

They officially joined the Management Bureau's research division.

    Their goals were simple.

Learn from the countless experts gathered there.

Digest the enormous amount of technical information Chen Chufeng had entrusted to them.

And make full use of the Management Bureau's vast research resources to further their own studies.

    After only two months...

Su Hao deeply appreciated the convenience brought by a truly enormous research institution.

Looking at the countless cutting-edge machines inside the laboratories...

    He almost drooled.

    "These instruments are incredible..."

"How did I even conduct research before this?"

    "Thinking back..."

    "It was unbelievably primitive."

If only he could take all of them with him...

    Unfortunately...

    That was impossible.

He couldn't even bring his own physical body between reincarnations.

How could he possibly bring laboratory equipment?

    Only information could be preserved.

    Thus...

Su Hao quietly infused every machine with his blood qi...

Recording their complete structures inside the Marble Space.

    It wasn't much...

But it was better than nothing.

He briefly considered recreating those machines inside the Marble Space...

    Then immediately dismissed the idea.

The Marble Space could only simulate things within the limits of his own understanding.

Without completely mastering the underlying principles...

Any recreation would merely be an empty shell.

    ---

    Two years passed.

    Su Hao turned eighteen.

Yashan had also become taller and considerably sturdier.

    Wearing a white research coat...

He excitedly ran to Su Hao's laboratory while holding a metal sphere roughly the size of a billiard ball.

    "Boss Wei!"

"The Spirit Ball passed every test yesterday!"

    Su Hao stopped his experiment...

    Removed his protective suit...

    Opened the laboratory door...

    And accepted the metal sphere.

The Spirit Ball appeared perfectly smooth.

    Apart from a single button...

    Its surface was seamless.

    At first glance...

It simply looked like an ordinary metal ball.

Su Hao immediately recorded its complete structure inside the Marble Space.

Its intricate internal mechanisms instantly unfolded before him.

    After a brief examination...

    He handed it back.

    "Try it."

    "Sure!"

Yashan excitedly entered the Summoning Chamber together with Su Hao.

Holding the Spirit Ball in his right hand...

He pressed the button with his thumb...

    Then threw it forward.

    Click.

The Spirit Ball landed on the ground with a crisp sound.

The surrounding space immediately distorted slightly.

An adorable gray rabbit appeared before them.

    "Chirp~"

    It possessed a plump body...

    A round nose...

    Gentle eyes...

    And an unusually docile temperament.

Its intelligence was obviously much higher than ordinary Secondary Star Beasts.

Its long ears drooped softly to both sides.

    Between them...

A tuft of brilliant crimson fur swayed gently.

This was the brand-new Spirit Beast personally designed by Bai Jingzhong—

    The Round-Nosed Rabbit.

Its current classification was Grade One.

    In reality...

Su Hao had only made three modifications.

He added a Transformation Chamber, allowing it to evolve by consuming Spirit Hair.

He implanted the crimson Spirit Hair, which stored a large amount of genetic information and enabled random recombination during evolution.

    Finally...

Together with the researchers from the Management Bureau...

He slightly enhanced the Spirit Beast's intelligence.

This made it far easier for Trainers to build emotional bonds with them.

    After all...

    That emotional bond...

Was precisely what would make countless young people become completely obsessed.

    Su Hao nodded with satisfaction.

    "Very good."

    "Better than I expected."

    Yashan smiled proudly.

    "There's more."

He raised the wristband on his arm.

"We've also completed the automatic retrieval system."

    "After successful summoning..."

"The Trainer only needs to press the retrieval button."

"The Spirit Ball will automatically return to the Spirit Ball Pouch."

    After saying that...

    He pressed the button.

    The Spirit Ball instantly disappeared.

    Yashan then turned around...

Reached toward the pouch hanging from his waist...

And casually pulled out the very same Spirit Ball.

Su Hao immediately gave him a thumbs-up.

    "Excellent."

"I didn't expect your Spirit Ball research team to be this meticulous."

    "I like it."

    Meanwhile...

Su Hao silently added another thought.

"If we also programmed it to shout..."

    "Go! Round-Nosed Rabbit!"

    "...it would be absolutely perfect."

Completely unaware of Su Hao's thoughts...

Yashan happily demonstrated the retrieval system several more times.

He played with it like a child who had just received his favorite toy.

His face was filled with the satisfaction unique to someone who had personally created something meaningful.

    After Yashan left...

Su Hao quietly looked out the laboratory window.

    "The second phase..."

    "...should be beginning soon."

    (End of Chapter 318)

Spirit ball and beast sound nice.
