    Chapter 310

In the next instant, everyone felt a strange tremor spread beneath their feet.

    They instinctively lowered their heads.

The earth, once covered in yellow-brown soil and scattered weeds, was rapidly turning dark brown before crystallizing into an unfamiliar black substance.

It looked incomparably solid, yet it rippled like the surface of water, rising and falling in gentle waves as it spread farther and farther into the distance.

    "What is this?"

Most people looked around in confusion.

    Only a handful recognized it.

Members of the Resistance Association who had seen recordings of the Resistance Butcher immediately turned pale.

    "The Resistance Butcher!"

"No... why is the Resistance Butcher in Paradise Town?"

"What are they trying to do?"

The more vigilant members immediately attempted to contact the secondary star and summon their contracted beasts.

But the moment they extended their mental tendrils...

    They froze.

Their mental power felt unimaginably heavy, as though every strand had been filled with molten lead.

    They could barely move it.

    Trying to force open space?

    Impossible.

    Their mental power still existed...

But it was no longer capable of prying open the fabric of space.

    "What... what's happening?"

For the first time since becoming summoners, they found themselves completely helpless.

Instinctively, everyone's gaze turned toward the four Great Elders of the Resistance Association—

    Luo, Shi, Huang, and Quan.

(The fifth elder, Qi, had recently welcomed quadruplets and hadn't attended this gathering.)

    Surely...

The elders would know what was happening.

    Unfortunately...

The four of them were just as bewildered.

Realizing they could neither summon beasts nor teleport to the secondary star, they immediately gathered together to discuss countermeasures.

The plump Elder Luo remained the calmest.

He slowly took a drag from his cigarette, surveyed the surroundings, and spoke methodically.

    "Don't panic."

"The more chaotic things become, the worse our situation will be."

"First, there are tens of thousands of people here. This may not necessarily be aimed at us."

"Second, our identities haven't been exposed. To outsiders, we're just ordinary people."

"Third, we still have over a hundred Songshi Beasts maintaining order. If anything happens, they'll protect us and escort us out."

"Fourth, Joy Bay lies to the southwest. There are ten ships anchored there. Riding a Songshi Beast, we can reach them in five minutes."

"Fifth, my private aircraft is parked at South Bay Park. If things truly become dangerous, let the directors and regional officers draw attention while the rest of you follow me."

    "Sixth..."

    "Notify everyone immediately."

    "Prepare firearms."

    "And grenades."

Luo took another leisurely puff from his cigarette before smiling faintly.

    "So..."

    "There's nothing to worry about."

    "Let's wait and see."

The other three elders couldn't help admiring him.

    As expected of Elder Luo.

Even in a crisis, he remained calm and methodical.

    Their anxiety immediately eased.

Nearby managers and directors noticed that the elders remained completely composed.

    Seeing this, they also relaxed.

    None of them realized...

Their fate had already been sealed.

The moment Su Hao pressed his hand against the ground...

    Everything had already been decided.

    Meanwhile...

The transformed Black Crystal Armor beneath the earth continued spreading outward.

    Three thousand meters...

    Five thousand...

    Ten thousand...

Finally, after enclosing the entire square, it stopped.

Viewed from the sky, it looked as though someone had spilled a massive drop of black ink across the earth.

    "Rise."

    Su Hao's calm voice echoed.

The edge of the Black Crystal domain suddenly writhed.

    The crystal ground surged upward.

    Higher...

    Higher...

    Higher...

Until it formed a colossal wall nearly fifty meters tall.

From above, it resembled a gigantic black basin, trapping everyone inside.

    "Oh... my God..."

    "Is this... a miracle?"

    "How did he do that?"

"Mom... is this some kind of magic show?"

Everyone stared upward with mouths hanging open.

    Some were stunned.

    Some were terrified.

    Some simply muttered,

    "Holy..."

    But the transformation...

    Wasn't over.

    Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Countless razor-sharp crystal spikes burst from the towering wall.

Their cold edges gleamed beneath the morning sunlight.

    Only now did everyone realize...

The strange crystal beneath their feet...

Had never intended to protect them.

    It intended to imprison them.

    "AHHHH!"

Someone finally lost control and screamed.

The scream instantly spread through the crowd like falling dominoes.

    Panic erupted.

    People shoved and pushed desperately.

They quickly realized there was nowhere to run.

Growing up in this world, everyone was accustomed to sudden danger.

    Their instinctive response was simple—

    Hide inside the crowd.

    If something happened...

    Someone else would die first.

Thousands of people immediately squeezed toward the center, forming an enormous, chaotic mass.

Those unable to force their way inside desperately tried digging into the ground.

    Only then did they discover...

The Black Crystal ground couldn't be excavated at all.

Even the many powerful summoners present were now no different from ordinary people.

The hundred Songshi Beasts responsible for maintaining order charged toward the crystal wall.

    They rammed it repeatedly.

    The wall didn't budge.

Even where damage appeared, it regenerated almost instantly.

Some Songshi Beasts attempted to climb over it.

    The moment they reached halfway...

Sharp Black Crystal spikes suddenly shot outward.

They pierced straight through the beasts' bodies.

The creatures let out miserable cries before crashing back onto the ground.

The four Great Elders could no longer remain calm.

All three subconsciously looked toward Elder Luo.

It was as if they were saying—

    "Luo... think of something."

    Unfortunately...

Even Luo had no answers left.

    ...

Having finished everything, Su Hao and Yashan slowly stood.

Each held a familiar long blade in hand.

Runes glowed faintly across their weapons.

Looking across the trapped crowd, Su Hao spoke calmly,

    "Let's begin, Yashan."

    At this point...

There was no longer any reason to question whether they should kill.

Whether there were a hundred people...

    A thousand...

    Or ten thousand...

    Everyone marked today would die.

Yashan slowly inhaled before letting out a long breath.

    "Understood..."

    "Boss Wei."

    Boom!

The ground beneath Su Hao's feet exploded.

    His figure vanished.

    Slash!

    A blade flashed.

A human head soared high into the air.

Only then did the decapitated body collapse, blood spraying like a fountain.

The severed head rolled across the ground until it stopped beside a horrified woman.

    "AAAAAHHHH!!"

Another piercing scream echoed throughout the square.

    At almost the same moment—

    Yashan moved.

He appeared beside a middle-aged man.

    His blade descended.

    Slash!

The man's body split cleanly into two halves.

Looking down at the corpse, Yashan muttered,

    "I remember saying..."

"If I ever caught you Resistance scum..."

    "I'd split you in half."

    "So..."

    "I've kept my promise."

    He lifted his head.

    Everywhere before him...

Countless blood-red enemy markers floated above the heads of Resistance members.

That had only been the first.

    There were still...

    More than two thousand left.

Glancing toward Su Hao, Yashan couldn't help feeling shocked.

Only a few seconds had passed...

Yet Boss Wei had already killed nearly ten people.

    Without another word...

Yashan charged straight into the screaming crowd.

    His target—

    Every red marker.

    Slash!

    Slash!

    Slash!

    Three clean swings.

Like cutting weeds by the roadside.

    One swing.

    One life.

I'm somehow surprised they didn't target the leaders first for some reason, maybe considering how this author has often avoided "tense" situations, the kind where dialogue between the antagonist and mc would be exchanged.
