    I've been wondering
    Nightmares are about finding a way to solve a specific conflict couldn't people in most cases just ignore everything and run or hide?
    Take the 2nd nightmare for example. It resolved around releasing hope from her prison. Even if the cohort just ignored everything, Noctis would still try to kill the other saints and release hope from her prison. He would either succeed and the nm ends or he would die trying. In which case does the nm still continue?

      Maybe if the nightmare repeats the actual event, the Spell counts it as a failure, since the goal is to break fate.
      If Sunny’s 'score' was perfect because he altered fate so drastically, then if someone went through the nightmare without changing anything at all, the Spell might well give them a 'zero' and kill them for wasting its time.

      That in my knowledge, would come as a failure. And let me explain this through example from sunny's first and second nightmare and Rain's friend's second nightmare.

      In Sunny's first nightmare, he achieved a glorious appraisal. That's cause he killed auro of the nine, who was fated, and had a duty to achieve, as someone of the nine. But since he didn't, the particular plan must have been left incomplete, changing the course of entire future. U repeat, "entire" future.

      In second nightmare of sunny. They had a choice to either release the hope and destroy the city (which originally happened) or let hope stay captured by killing noctis who was trying to release hope. Cohort decided to help noctis in releasing the hope. And that way, the release of hope happened and city was destroyed was before it was supposed to. Cause in the original version. Noctis made a deal with Weaver in order to free hope.

      Now. About the second nightmare of Rain's friends. They had a similar choice too. They decided to do what was supposed to happen, but make it faster. That way, the original course of events changed and fate is "influenced"

      In second nightmare of Sunny and Rain's friends, fate was "influenced" since what was supposed to happened, actually happened pretty quickly. That's why the Nightmare was a success but their appraisal weren't that good.

      But in first Nightmare of sunny. He didn't just influenced the fate, he changed the complete future by killing one of nine. Doing that changed the courses exponentially and That's why his appraisal was glorious.

        Yes but the spell doesn't give you a clear cut objective for the nightmares. Take the 4th nm that the current cohort is challening rn. They decided to just run and not fight Azarax the history would be alterned quite significantly, since the war maiden whose body Effie took actually managed to defeat Azarax

          No she did not. He said "by the time I killed her, it was too late." At the end, he did won. He was not defeated like you said. He just lost a significant amount of power and army.

          Azarax was an important figure during doom war as well. That's when he was cursed by the shadow god. He also had a huge army during that time as well.

          Also, I believe killing Azarax is a decision the cohort made together. It's the 4th NM afterall, it won't be easy like third one. And running and hiding is not exactly an option here maybe. Especially since Azarax had taken interest in the cohort already.

          He will look for them, he will find them, but he will not kill them. He will turn into their thralls.

          I think Seishan, Morgan and Nightwalker were the one who decided to ally with Mason. Cause they know what it feels like to be thrall (going through Asterion's mindhex). Effie must have agreed too cause she was war maiden who was leading the mercenary army which hired. And you know, she knows, how the war maiden were raised. Kai is a good person, he wouldn't have wanted to protect the Mason's city to the best of his ability. Jet might have had to go with the decision of majority.

    Will we get to come across Nether's Stronghold? I mean all other Daemon strongholds have been accounted for except Weaver. I categorise the TOA as Oblivion's stronghold technically also.
