      who knows maybe the theory about nightmare spell taking them to past might be true so they r changing the fate of people in great river and maybe nightmare spell exists to use people of the other world to go in nightmares change fate and revive people of dream realms?
      something i have always been wondering is since sunny took the obsidian knife with him to the past with him and gave him to noctis but it was just a illusion created by nightmare spell why did the obsidian knife stopped to exists in real time so maybe it was real after all?
