    Cassie just hugged her mom tighter. She couldn't help but cling to her a little longer than she should have.

                Because, from my point of view, her only 2 options were to save Nephis or Sunny. Would you have liked Cassie more if she had betrayed Nephis instead of Sunny?

                  Yeah that's where you are wrong, she had the choice to not take any side which is what she should have done as she knew nothing she does would change what saw in the vision, her actions only made the situation worse. She betrayed one of her best friends for nothing, someone like her is genuinely irredeemable. I don't see how anyone could even stand her let alone like her.

                  The thing here is that not making anything is a choice in itself. She saw in her dream that the shadows were winning ver the light so if she had not done anything the it would have been almost certain that Nephis would die.

                  For example seeing someone hanging on a cliff and not helping it it's a choice in itself and wouldn't be a "good" one

    This hatred for Cassie is really unreasonable. We’re talking about kids thrown into hell for no reason. And this particular kid is blind and doesn’t have an aspect that specializes on fighting. The girl would’ve been dead if not for the miracle that Nephis was close.

    Why do we expect a girl to make perfect decisions, as if she was an all powerful being. Yeah, she can see into the future, so what? Seeing the future automatically makes you capable of solving every problem? That you will never make a mistake? People should get off their high horse.         Yeah, it is incredible. Just put yourself in that shoes. Being blind and utterly powerless, and all you have is an echo who can guide you. All you can do is see vaguely into the future. You can only choose and you have to be careful of every single thing you change because it can have catastrophic impacts. One change might result into the whole Nephis failing to kill the ruler of the bright castle or it might lead to the army getting annihilated. Stopping Sunny from getting isolated can prevent him from getting saint. Just one wrong step and it can have domino effect on a lot of things.

              Just because Nephis protected her at the start doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have died without Sunny’s help though. If they had been allowed to travel to the statue where Sunny was they were going to die there. You can’t put the value of one over the other because of who came first that’s just wrong.

              After learning about Sunny she probably realized that if she met him first he would do what he had to do to survive not out of spite or cruelty, simply to survive cause that’s all he knew at the time and that’d be okay because he was not strong enough to protect her.

              She wouldn’t hate him for it and that’s definitely not a reason for her to betray him she was just naive blinded by her aspect which is fine. She will be forgiven though she hasn’t even tried to apologize and Sunny being petty isn’t making it any better.

                Not to mention how he lived till that point he also wasn't strong enough to afford protecting a blind girl with basically no movement let alone combat skills
                Only nephis who can both heal and kill and was proficient in combat could entertain the thought sunny would be gradually exhausted and then they both would die to the accumulated injuries
                and even then she won't have survived without him
                And actually I am curious does academy know about her(cassie) aspect i am not sure like it's rank
                (put up spoiler tag just in case)so why didn't they protect her

                  I figured her aspect was of that rank because she seems like the best seer in the novel for some reason. Maybe the fact that the author wants to keep her relevant. But don’t forget both Sunny and Cassie were able to refuse to tell them what rank their aspect is so maybe she didn’t tell them but described what it could do to a certain extent and even then as a sleeper she didn’t understand her power fully. As a blind seer with a low rank the academy wouldn’t have protected her nor would others in the dream realm protect her. Keep in mind that children with good talents are likely to boast about it so anyone who kept their rank secret either had a low rank or was like Sunny.

            That’s the tricky thing about betrayal it always comes from those you trust. The hard part is not forgiving the person that’s the easy part…

            The hard part is being able to fully trust that person in the future because there’s no way you’ll have been able to have 100% faith in them. It will be highly unlikely that you doubtfully trust that person with anything ever again.

            I think Sunny is on a fine line between forgiveness and disappointment in her he doesn’t hate her because he understands why she did it but does not forgive her for it which is fine. If/when he does forgive her I’m sure he won’t put all his faith in her watching his back as a friend only as a convenient companion which is fine.

      The hatred for cassie is completely reasonable, not only did she betray her best friend in the worst way possible, she also did so while knowing doing so would change nothing to help nephis.

      So heres the issue, her choice was just dumb and she fell into false dilemma.


      Cassie saw visions a few times, and she tried to change the future she saw, but her actions just propelled towards the visions she saw, nor could she change it, her actions to stop were acting as a catalyst.

      So you would expect her to stop, but no, she didn't, she still gave his true name to nephis like a dumbass, even though she already knew her actions can't change what she saw in the vision, this not only doomed sunny but also doomed nephis as well.

      cassie just shouldn't have taken any side its not that hard to get. shes just dumb instead of being a horrible person comparatively
